Arbutus Sundecks

All of my decks were rotten, they were all rebuilt with glass viewing and the back deck was done in Treks.
Mark estimated each deck separately for me. The work was done efficiently. I would definitely call Arbutus for another job.

The wooden fascia on my sundeck was quite rotten out. I also wanted to extend my deck slightly.
The job was quite labour intensive, because under the deck is a closed in ground floor.
I was very pleased with the finished job.
The work crew were very friendly and professional. Also when the job was complete all the mess was cleaned up, and the rubbish was removed.
I would definitely use Arbutus Sundecks again.

Arbutus replaced our current deck cover. Mark and Magnus are both very personable and open and honest. Handled challenges with great expertise. Magnus was outstanding and supervised work daily and was always available by phone or email to address concerns.
No surprises or unexpected charges other than a major snow storm which slowed the work only briefly. We have a very large deck and also some carpentry was required to deal with water damage which added to the cost.

Mark met with us before the work began and explained all option. Provided a detailed estimate.

Magnus met with us for a final inspection after completion of the deck; perfectionist that he is, there were a few last "touch ups" to make sure it was perfect!

Excellent service from the first contact (returned an inquiry email within 24 hours), to the work performed to the wrap up of the project. Job came in on budget and estimated time. All staff friendly, efficient and patient with any questions or concerns. Highly recommended.

Great job. Gave me a rough price over the phone, then came to measure up and installed within 3 weeks. Looks fantastic and feels very sturdy. Good communication and progress updates was appreciated.

Our existing deck was about 27 years old. The structure was in reasonable shape but the vinyl deck was worn out, the wood railing and stairs were near the end of their lives as well. We met with the owner Mark who gave us a couple of options with accompanying 3d animated quotes that really helped in our decision process. The work was done efficiently and looks to be good quality. We were kept informed about each step and any schedule changes. The finished product included a better quality vinyl deck, new stairs with upgraded trex treds, new aluminum railings, some structural leveling and rot repairs and the addition of a fascia board all around the deck and stairs. The end result is a much better look and flow to the back of our house for a fair price. I would definitely recommend Arbutus Sundecks for their deck design and installation services.

If every contractor was like Arbutus Sundecks to deal with, it would be a pleasure to do business with them, especially the principles Mark and Magnus. From our first call, all phone calls and emails were responded to promptly. At the first meeting Mark displayed a level of professionalism rarely seen in contractors. In addition to all the worthwhile suggestions there was never any pressure placed upon us, notwithstanding the numerous meetings that took place at which we were offered many alternatives to consider. Once the decision was made to hire Arbutus, the timelines were set and the work was completed within a reasonable time and on budget. Dean, the trades person that Arbutus assigned to do our deck, was extremely hardworking and very pleasant to have around. If we had any queries, he would take the time to explain. Mark and Magnus made several on site visits while the work was being done and numerous suggestions were made by Mark to enhance our experience with our new Trex Deck such as the addition of a rain barrel to catch water emanating from a newly installed permanent acrylic cover and the application of LED lighting in traffic areas of the deck. These suggestions were implemented and we are more than pleased with the results. We have already recommended Arbutus to our friends and neighbours, and I am confident that if Arbutus is chosen they will do an excellent job.

Mark from Arbutus was extremely professional and had a great visual of the final product before he even started the project. He was actually completing a job that another contractor had started but ran into trouble (didn't know what they were doing).
