Home renovation

Wallace Fleming came in to finish our home renovations that were started by someone else. The original scope included finishing two bathrooms, installing hardwood floors on two levels, painting kitchen cabinets, and some misc electrical work for lighting. We called Vaughan and he promptly met w us that evening to go through the work. He was professional and competent and was very responsive to any emails or texts we sent. Partway through project, we changed the scope (included installing a new pantry door, new baseboards throughout the entire house, and painting the entire house). Each time we added extra work, Vaughan promptly gave us an estimate for the additional work and was able to line up the ppl necessary to complete the work in a timely manner. We were happy w the work he did and would recommend him to friends.

Hi Teri.

Thanks for the kind words and great review. It's always a pleasure when a client is so happy with the work we do that they feel that we deserve such praise and high score. To be sure, we don't take it for granted that we will receive such a score as we are our own worst/best critic. Either way we are constantly striving to be better at all aspects our business and operations regardless of the positive feedback. We know all to well that there's always room for improvement.

The house looks fantastic and is certainly a far-cry from what it was. You guys have done a great job of finishing and furnishing the space. Thanks a lot for the opportunity to work on your home. Do enjoy it!

Basement renovation

This was a basement renovation for a 1950's bungalow. The project involved demolishing to the bare concrete and joists, roughing in plumbing for the new bathroom, relocating the furnace and hot water heater, replacing all the ducting and plumbing, upgrading and relocating the electrical service, installing new windows, and then building to the new floor plan.

We are very pleased with the results, it's a totally new world down there. But we are even more pleased with the project process from design through completion. Some highlights:

- Excellent communication. One of the best things was how quick and open communication was. Wallace Fleming was quick to respond, quick to bring up issues and potential issues as they arose (and with an old house there were little discoveries at every step.)
- The project kept moving and on schedule. Nothing stopped or hung-fire, the trades showed up as scheduled and completed work on time.
- The trades were all good to work with.
- The work was well done.
- We would to give special thanks to Cochise ("Coach"). He was the onsite project manager and all-round guy. He is simply great to work with. A very large part of the project's success and our satisfaction with it is due to Coach.

A second project with Wallace Fleming is now underway for the upstairs: new bathroom, new kitchen and a refresh of the rest.

Hi Carson.

Thanks for the great review! You guys were (and still are for that matter) a great client to work with which always, always, always, makes for a successful project.

We're really good at what we do and have the right trades and suppliers to help us along the way, but a big part of a projects' success is our clients and their attitude and approach to the challenges that come with every project. You guys were great and gracious when issues came up and were always part of the solution.

The above said we are looking forward to working with you again on your kitchen and main floor renovation. Along with the completed basement renovation, your home will be as new as it can get for a 60 year old house. (-;

Wallace Fleming & Associates created a stunning pantry off the kitchen for us & completed a kitchen renovation that matched my vision. They also did a tremendous amount of tile work which looked amazing. The lighting changes & additions as well as laundry reno & mastersuite closet reno turned out great. We transformed an empty loft space into my daughter's oasis! We have current & future projects with Wallace Fleming. Thank you Wallace Fleming!

Addition, Basement Renovation, Double Garage

Our scope included engineering, drawings, project management and construction. We did not want to be our own general contractors on such a large project with so many trades and suppliers. Wallace Fleming provided the project management and supervision of their stable of subcontractors. All but one of the subcontractors completed their work in good time and with excellent results. In the one case, Wallace Fleming addressed all the issues resulting in a high quality result. Once started the work was progressed with few interruptions. Dave, the Project Manager for our project kept the subcontractors organized and was always sensitive to our needs. All issues, which were all minor, were addressed without argument. We are very pleased with the high quality product and recommend anyone with a similar project invite Wallace Fleming in for a consultation.

Sunroom Repair

We had a water feature in our sunroom that leaked causing significant tile damage in that room and some additional damage in the basement room below it. We originally found Wallace Fleming on Homestars and decided to meet with them after reading all the positive reviews. We were impressed by their thorough assessment of the damage and plan for repair, and felt very confident hiring them. The repair process was seamless - someone was on site every day to manage the trades and update me on the process, the work was completed well within the timeframe that they estimated, and it was on budget. I requested a couple of last minute changes and repairs outside of the scope of the sunroom / basement and those were also accommodated quickly and without issue. Since first reaching out to Vaughan and the team, I have been more than impressed by their responsiveness - they answered all of my (often mundane) questions thoroughly and promptly and provided a level of service and professionalism that I haven't experienced in dealing with other contractors and trades in Calgary. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Wallace Fleming for future work or to recommend them to others. In fact, we did have another unrelated issue come up and hired Wallace Fleming to help with that repair as well. Our sunroom looks even better than it did in the first place thanks to Wallace Fleming!

Hi Michelle.

Good to hear that you are pleased with the work completed. We agree that the work looks great and, as we always expect with each and every project, is an improvement on what what there. (-: I'd like to point out that there are no mundane questions, only mundane answers! You questions were valid and deserved unambiguous answers given the relative complexity of the work.

So we do hope you enjoy the new space and be sure to reach out should anything come up that requires our attention. Thanks for the opportunity to complete the work. We appreciate it!

James Hardie Boarding/Siding, lighting, bathroom, and window.

Our interior design recommended Wallace Fleming to install the James Hardie Boarding/Siding at HI-Calgary City Centre.

Wallace Fleming delivers an exceptional finish product, working with them made me feel comfortable and confident in how the construction process unfolded. I always felt like they were intent on meeting or exceeding my expectations, and when minor things were done incorrectly, they were fixed quickly.

Wallace Fleming's execution of the project was extraordinary with the trades well scheduled and efficient.
Their expertise really shows both in the management of the project itself as well as in delivering a personal touch that made me feel that I always knew the project was being handled properly.

Wallace Fleming really made this major renovation smooth and easy. The end result was fantastic!!!

Hi Jason.

Thanks for the review! We're happy to know that we met your expectations on such a large-scale project with so may moving pieces--windows, doors, siding, sheathing, building envelope, exterior lighting, interior finishing and deck reconstruction. It was quite the broad scope of work. As always clients make the experience what it is for us and themselves. Your whole team at HI Calgary were great to work with, very accommodating, and definitely helped to make the process as seamless as it was. The building looks great and certainly adds another pop of color and style to the East Village. Thanks for the opportunity and we look forward to working with you in the future!

Home renovation

We picked Wallace Fleming after asking friends and checking out a bunch of reno company reviews on Homestars. We ended up meeting with and getting quotes from 4 companies. Wallace Fleming wasn't the most expensive but not the cheapest either. However, we immediately felt comfortable with Vaughan and Greg, they struck us as very honest and knowledgeable, and as they were building the quote we ended up meeting most of their trades who they had come to our house.
We were confident with each trade we met as well as the construction manager - Jorme. Unfortunately, a week after signing our contract, we were informed Jorme had left the company. We were bummed out as Jorme had gotten special recognition in many of the Homestars reviews. We ended up getting assigned a new construction manager - Dave. More on him later. We also had a great guy named Coach who was a very skilled carpenter and did some great work at our home.
Our project was fairly significant - replaced all poly-b water lines in our house, added a new full bathroom in our basement (which had not been roughed in and required jackhammering out concrete heated floor), completely gutted our kitchen and re-designed it from scratch, new hardwood flooring entire main floor, painted entire house, some major demo on the main floor to open up the floorspace.
The entire project took 2.5 months to complete - we moved out for that time. The job ended up on time and on budget. The quotes were accurate and almost all of the trades that Wallace Fleming brought into our house were awesome (we had a couple of issues with the plumbers and painters but overall they were minor and Wallace Fleming were VERY MUCH on top of it, dealt with things promptly, and handled our concerns).
Like with any reno, we had a few minor hiccups along the way (nothing in comparison to most people we know who have done a big reno). However, the Wallace Fleming team were always willing to listen, never made excuses, and always handled things promptly and professionally.
As mentioned, the quote up front was pretty much bang on, and the detailed work schedule we got up front was very accurate.
Finally, I mentioned earlier we were a bit bummed out that we ended up getting assigned a new construction manager a week into the job. However, what a blessing in disguise. I'm sure Jorme was great, but Dave was AWESOME!! Great sense of pride in his job, very customer focussed, knows what he is doing, and has a great sense of humor. We really clicked with him and to us he was the face of Wallace Fleming as we dealt with him almost daily. We ended up having a big housewarming party once the reno was done and invited Dave. We were happy that Dave attended and he was a very fitting addition to our house full of friends celebrating our new home. THANK YOU Dave for all of your work at our house!!!
We love our new home (its the same space but truly feels completely new and fresh) and are so pleased we went with Wallace Fleming. Vaughan and Greg were great to work with. Both had some very practical suggestions when we were in the planning stage and they truly listened to us and wanted what was best for our family and situation - not just trying to increase the cost of the project.
Thanks to the entire Wallace Fleming team - Vaughan, Greg, Coach, and Dave. You guys are the real deal.

Hi Dean.

Thanks a lot for the review and rating! As we've said before we never expect a 10/10 on any project and are always pleased when our clients are kind enough to rate us at such a high level. To be sure, there were some challenges, but to your credit we were able to resolve them quickly and keep the project moving forward on time and on budget. The space looks great and is definitely very open. It's an excellent example of what can be done with the removal of a wall and the addition of new cabinetry, flooring and paint.

Thanks again for the opportunity and we wish you nothing but the best in 2016!

Full Condo Renovation

We hired Wallace Fleming for a full renovation of a apartment-style condo on recommendation.

Throughout the whole process Vaughan, Greg, and Construction Manager Coach were extremely professional.

Despite living out-of-city for the majority of the reno, I found it extremely easy to contact them. Emails and Texts were all answered quickly. Even knowing they have multiple jobs on the go, it never once felt like any attention was divided.
I received regular updates, and if there was an issue at any point it was made known immediately.

In terms of the actual work, things were done quickly and quite well. Despite some small delays with painting the job was done roughly a week in advance. Considering we kept most items in the condo, and worked in a two stage process, I was very impressed by the speed at which things were done.

Any issues that have popped up since moving back in, such as cosmetic scratches and dings, as well as some shower heads that wouldn't quite tilt down have been fixed quickly and effectively.

I would gladly recommend Wallace Fleming to anyone looking to do small changes, or changing out everything but the doors like I have done.

Condominium Siding

Last year at the same project we used a different company and had numerous complaints from the owners. This year we choose to go with Wallace Fleming. Hi M.O.

Thanks for the review. We appreciate it! Given the size and scope of the project and that we were onsite for 4 months, it's great to hear that we met everyone's expectations and no complaints were received. In the end this can attributed to three important elements for the project: 1) adequate planning upfront; 2) ongoing communication with all parties affected by the project; and 3) ongoing site evaluations. The above said, it's also important to point out that our sub-contractors did an outstanding job. Qualified, competent, and responsive trades and suppliers are an integral part of any project's overall success.

Thanks again for the positive feedback.
