Pine Glen General Contracting

Pine Glen recently completed a renovation on my condo in downtown Toronto.

At first, there was a bit of a learning curve using their product system BuilderTrend. Once I got up-to-speed it was fairly straight-forward and certainly ensured the project stayed on schedule.

Pine Glen was responsive to all my inquiries and completed the job as per my wishes. As in any renovation, some of the trades people they used were subpar, but Pine Glen was always reactive to my concerns and ensured that they had the trades come back to complete the job as expected.

Quite happy with my overall experience.

It was a real pleasure working with Pine Glen Homes on a new custom home development for me and my family.

Building a custom can be a daunting process with so many decisions to be made, from size of the home, to the architectural design, construction, finishing, closing and post closing, and a lot of people that go through this process have a number of negative experiences along the way.

In my case, Im so thrilled to have worked with Pine Glen Homes because they delivered the perfect beautiful home for us. From the get go, there was full transparency in the process and communication was always clear. We aligned on a budget and they delivered within the budget we agreed.

The quality of the home is simply outstanding and everyone I interacted with in Pine Glen was professional and customer focussed. Rob (supervisor) was amazing and it was clear from day one that he cared about the project and ensuring we were delighted with the home being built which we are! Tyler was always super responsive and ensured that any issue that came up was promptly addressed.

The most impressive part was the closing and post closing process. Usually, thats when people have negative experiences because the builder typically moves on and you are no longer a priority. However, Pine Glen actually ensured that every single issue I raised (no matter how small) was promptly dealt with.

My expectations were very high going into this project but I have to say that they were all exceeded especially in terms of budget, timeline and quality.

By the end of the project, I can honestly say my relationship with the owners of Pine Glen evolved from Builder-Client to Trusted Friends and Ill highly recommend them for any custom home development project.

My wife and I are very happy that we chose Pine Glen to build our custom home. They delivered on everything they promised and kept to their pricing. We are very much enjoying our new home. We faced a number of serious challenges in our project and Pine Glen worked diligently and conscientiously to keep our project moving forward as fast as possible. All of their personnel are knowledgeable, professional and have positive attitudes. Justin has an incredible talent for high level problem solving and devising creative solutions on site as needed. This is critical to keeping projects like ours on schedule and on budget and most importantly completed in the manner most beneficial to our needs/desires. We started with a raised side split 3 bedroom bungalow with 2 baths and had an architect prepare plans and obtain permits to add another story and extend the house to the front to create a complete open concept main floor kitchen, dinning and living room and 5 bedrooms on the upper level and 4 1/2 baths. Three exterior walls (double brick) and the basement slab floor were all that would remain of the original home. Absolutely everything else would be new. Pine Glen had to strip down the existing house to these brick/block walls carefully and then interface the old with the new. This is much more difficult than building new. At the framing stage it was discovered that our architect had omitted several important structural components from the permit drawings. Efforts to gain assistance from this architect to fix his mistake failed so our project had to be put on hold while we had another architect and engineer review the drawings and make the corrections. From a contractual standpoint Pine Glen could have just continued construction without alerting us to the problem, however, they knew this could result in the framing not passing the building inspection or if it did pass could result in building collapse in future years. Pine Glen looked out for our interests and worked with us to resolve this problem and obtain the materials and undertake the necessary additional work so that the project could restart as quickly as possible and without taking advantage of the situation to jack up pricing or put our project on the back burner. The architect's structural mistake did result in a significant delay for us, and it disrupted the original schedule of trades that Pine Glen had committed to our project, but they honestly did their very best to bring them all back when our project was again ready to proceed. This was not so easy as we were building during the peak of the Covid labour and material shortage in the summer of 2021. It was a struggle for Pine Glen's subtrades to summon a full crew at times given the labour shortage but I could tell that Pine Glen was pushing its trades and suppliers to move the project forward as fast as possible in the circumstances. There is no way to describe in a short space here how challenging this construction environment was at that time. Our site manager was working really long hours at great personal stress securing the materials needed to keep the project moving forward. No one can execute a project this complex or challenging without a few mistakes and Pine Glen did make some mistakes. Thankfully and to their credit Pine Glen corrected them quickly and without complaint at, I am sure, significant cost to Pine Glen. I feel like Pine Glen are good honest people who try their very best to follow through on their commitments to completion on time, on price and with high quality to make their clients happy. As a lawyer who does a fair amount of construction litigation, I know that many builders and contractors do not conduct themselves this way. Choosing the right builder is critical. We met with several before choosing Pine Glen and we know we made the right choice. I have recommended Pine Glen to close friends and will continue to do so. We are extremely happy with our main floor/kitchen reno completed by Pine Glen.  The whole team there is top notch and want to make sure the job is done well, and that you as a customer are satisfied.  From start to finish they try to limit the surprises with the use of online tools and setting budget expectations.   They managed to get the work done during the challenging Covid period.  Renan and Tyler were absolutely great managing the process.  We will gladly use them again for further reno work at our house.

We chose Pine Glen to complete the renovation of our two bedroom two bath condo. Other than the flooring and the drywall, everything was removed from the condo. It was essentially starting from scratch and rebuilding it.

Renan was the Super of the project He is responsive, knowledgeable professional and a pleasure to work with. Renan answered our questions and found solutions to all challenges throughout the project. We always felt our concerns were understood and respected. He provided updates throughout project. Renan
established a great working relationship with condo management and staff which was very important.

Some of the things that made PineGlen and its team stand apart and ensure the success of the project were:
Enough time was allocated to walk through the property to establish the scope of work and understand the clients objectives. The scope of work was in writing and approved by the client and PineGlen.
The Budget process was clear with no surprises
Upgrades/change orders were approved in writing
solutions and options to challenges were provided quickly without delay
excellent products and materials provided during supply shortage
Utilized technology to centralize and track chosen materials, contracts/documentation and communications which really made it easy as a client to be able to find specific material choice, reference contract, keep track of changes, progress and cost with a few clicks.
The team was always responsive. There was never a time that communication was answered promptly.

I had the pleasure of collaborating with Pine Glen via the client as the interior designer for Project Verobeach: an extensive renovation. There were a number of challenges beyond anyone's control that Pine Glen handled so very well throughout the entire build process, allowing us to move forward to a success completion. They had systems in place to ensure the material selections made were executed efficiently and expertly; the end result was a transformation that everyone cannot believe is in fact a renovation, everyone believes this to be a new build home. Every member of the Pine Glen team was helpful, courteous, pleasant and professional. The completed work is excellent, we're very happy with the results.

Our project took twice the time to complete (than quoted), as there were some unforeseen obstacles. This is good to consider and prepare for, for every project! Some details were missed during initial finishes, but corrected in the end.

Overall, we have a very beautiful space we can enjoy for years to come!

We have now worked with Pine Glen on (3) separate construction projects
We initially retained PG in 2013 to complete a relatively small basement renovation of our 1970 back-split bungalow.
At the time we were very impressed with the scope of work, the price and the ultimate finished product.
With a growing family we found the need to expand, so in the fall of 2018 we once again retained Pine Glen, to demolish the old house and build a much larger custom home on the existing foundation.
Pine Glen took care of everything from design though the permit process and ultimate construction.
The entire project was completed within 10 months and the quality of the work was outstanding.
In 2022 we decided to finish the basement of our relatively new custom home, and once again retained Pine Glen for the project.
Eddie and his team provided us with advice on the layout and finishes.
Once again, we were extremely satisfied with the quality of the finished product.
Upon completion and during the final walk-through, we pointed out some issues resulting from settlement of the custom home construction, (ie. nail pops & bulging of corner beads), and Pine Glen stepped up to repair all of our concerns.
We now have a beautiful custom home for which we receive numerous compliments.
Our experience with Pine Glen over the years has been very satisfying and we would recommend Eddie and his team of professionals to anyone that is considering a home renovation project or construction of an entire custom home.

If you are reading this review, you have found the right people to help you with your home project. Pine Glen provide the level of service that everyone expects on a project (on time, on budget, made with quality & care, with attention to detail and professionalism - all with a smile), but usually never gets. You would be doing yourself a disservice to not at least get their opinion and estimate on your needs.
We sought out multiple quotes when trying to assess who to help us with our home project, and Pine Glen showed a level of expertise and understanding of home projects that was clearly a step above the rest. They are true experts when it comes to understanding how these home projects get executed.
We were a small project for them and they provided us with the same level of service that their larger projects benefit from. Everyone there really cares about your project no matter the size. Justin, Eddie, Tyler, Luca, Andre, Gloria, Jenna, Artur, and everyone else at Pine Glen always made us feel so welcome and valued throughout the project. You can see the level of trust and strength of relationships within their office that are all core to how they execute projects as a high performing team. When the key person on our project fell ill, others managed to step in and ensure that everything was well executed on time. Their subcontractors were also superb.
I really enjoyed the buildertrend app that they use where everything is documented and everyone from Pine Glen is super responsive. Even at 6 pm, 9 pm, on weekends I would get responses within minutes. All the little details are captured from the time of the estimate and throughout the whole process; even things like when we wanted to salvage specific materials from the debris pile.
They did a phenomenal job from start to finish and our house looks amazing now.
