Stan Bernard Carpentry No Longer In Business

We recently hired Stan - again. This time, he came to cut a door under our stairs, so that we could access the space for additional storage in our older home. Stan and his son, Mike, used the existing wainscotting to create a hidden door - that opens just with a little push. It's fabulous. And better yet, the gentlemen cleaned up after themselves, and I suspect the place was actually cleaner after they left. We're very happy with Stan's work and will hire him again.

We first met Stan when he worked for another contractor doing work on our 1855 circa stone house in Prescott. Since then, after starting his own business, Stan has done many more renovations for us over the years. These included a bathroom, refinishing our stairs, replacing the roof on our stone shed with wood shingles, building a garden shed and an arbor. He just finished renovating our master bedroom and last fall replaced the old ten-test tile ceiling in our kitchen which is included in the above cost.

It is obvious that his expertise has grown greatly over the years. He takes pains to make sure that the job is done correctly and to your specifications. We expect he will be doing more work on our house as our budget allows.

This project is one of many that Stan has undertaken for us. He completed the job on time, within budget and completely as requested. He also smoothly coordinated the subcontracts required. Stan Bernard is a contractor that you can be confident in hiring. We recommend him very highly.

To have a local contractor who pays atantion to detail, has pride in his work, charges fairly and is respectful of our working environment is very important to us. We have great trust in Stans work now that he has looked after our upkee and reno needs over the last 2-3 years and would recommend his services with confidence to anyone.

My wife and I were on the hunt to find an older home with lots of character to buy and and fix up. Not only did we find a home with lots of character, but we are happy to report we found a carpenter with lots of character to boot! Stan is knowledgeable, friendly, and does excellent work. He listens to what you want done, and also throws many good ideas into the mix. We are only at the beginning of what we anticipate to be many projects, but we already know who our man will be for all of them. Stan is more than a carpenter, most recently he has done a variety of work for us from demolition to insulating to dry-walling, to installing wood flooring to tiling. It's been said before and will likely be said again - Stan is the man!

I have known Stan for 10 years, in fact up until 2 years ago we were neighbours. This summer I purchased a home in Brockville which needed some fixin', alterations and some new parts. I new right away who to call. Stan came out and I described the deck I wanted built for pool access. Done within a week and looks great! We have got a lot of compliments on his work! I had Stan replace 7 older windows, remove some old cabinetry from the living room, repair and install drywall, replace the bathroom window crank and install new PVC trim to prevent rotting. Thanks Stan once again for a job well done! I'll be calling you in the Spring for mor renos on the outside of the house.

OK, I'm making a lot of exceptions these days - but these craftsmen are just too great not to commend. Stan Bernard is a local (Spencerville) carpenter that can do just about any job, and he does it well. In the old school tradition of carpentry, Stan is a true master. To date he has fixed rotten joists in our basement, adding extra support as well, took out all the nails in our steel roof, adding screws instead - there really is little that Stan hasn't done to help us restore an 130-year old farm house. We are very happy with Stan's work and will continue to hire him wherever needed.
