Very disappointed after years of service with Boonstra
I note all the positive reviews are about furnace A/C replacement when people are paying big bucks. I felt the same when our furnace/AC was replaced last year. However, this spring/summer I have been totally frustrated with their service. Boonstra phoned ME to arrange a standard A/C check up at the beginning of the COVID shutdown. I said I didn't want anyone in my house and it wasn't A/C weather anyway. They then set up an appt. for sometime in May. They have subsequently phoned and postponed this appt. three times. The last time they postponed at 8 a..m. on the morning we were all set and waiting for them to arrive (dog walked, breakfast over, so that my husband with compromised health and dog could be in a room where they would not interact with the serviceman). When I expressed frustration over being informed so late about this cancellation, they apologized, rebooked and said we would be their first customer, no cancellations. That was this morning. Once, again, we were all set for their arrival and were delighted when we received a phone call at 7:55 saying the technician would be here in 30 min. When no-one had arrived by 9:00, I phoned and was told he was probably held up in traffic, and would be there soon, and I was given his name. When he hadn't arrived by 9:45, I phoned again. By this time, we had re-organized everything, my husband had moved to another room for his nap. After quite some time, I received a phone call from the original dispatcher saying she was very sorry, but they didn't know that the technician had asked for the day off (so why the phone calls telling me he was on his way, and giving me his name?) and they were sending another technician. It is now nearly 11 a.m. and he has just arrived...three hours after we had been informed a technician was on the way. If this was the first time we had been inconvenienced, I could understand....but there is clearly a problem with the scheduling of routine maintenance of furnace/AC after one has paid the big bucks for the installation of a new unit. The installation was very costly....and I'm not even sure it was indicated. I've been told I may have been misinformed when told we MUST install a new furnace for safety precautions. And I am certainly not pleased with the maintenance scheduling. Too bad...I used to swear by Boonstra maintenance and repairs....but I would no longer recommend them.
