Batroom, Kitchen, and flooring renovations
We hired John Rodgers because of the recommendations of his wife who was my friend at the time. Now I understand that she must be the only person who considers John Rodgers a professional contractor who does “excellent” job. Everybody was happy until I noticed that some of his work was not done properly. When confronted about it, John Rodgers started packing his equipment and threatened to call other professionals to quit working in our house. After negotiations he did finished what agreed. Unfortunately half of the projects were not done correctly and we are still correcting his work: not straight walls, uneven floors and we still need to lay a different floor where he put laminate on top of the existing carpet. John Rodgers FYI: YOU DO NOT LAY LAMINATE FLOOR ON TOP OF A CARPET!!!
He is not reliable and you cannot trust him. Because the floor was squeaking and flexing we confronted him on the laminate on top of the carpet issue. He replied that it is just fine and he even got approval of the manufacturer to put the laminate on top of the existing carpet. He also said that the squeaks will go away in about a year?!
We wrote few letters to John Rodgers asking for partial reimbursement of the cost of the renovation. Unfortunately after supplying him with the written documentation from the manufacturer who confirmed that the work was not done properly, he ignored us not even bothering to reply. What he did is he did call the plumber, electrician and the drywaller and asked them not to work for us anymore.
John Rodgers is working as a site manager for one of the Vancouver developers building houses in Port Coquitlam, God save the buyers of those homes! He does renovations on the side and he gladly accepts cash…
I would not recommend John Rodgers as a contractor to anybody.
