I decided to bite the bullet and have all the knob and tube wiring replaced in my home after living with it for 10 years. I called a high profile electrical contractor to give me an estimate of time and cost and nearly had heart failure when he said it would take nine days to complete the job (in a small semidetached house) and cost $14,000.
