Ken and his crew at Bastone Electric were exceptional! They were organized, practical, dependable, and very pleasant to work with.

Replacing knob&tube is a messy job, but they took all the necessary measures to minimize the mess as well as the disruption for the tenants. They also arrived and completed the job as scheduled and were available for questions and issues (not their issues) after the work was completed as well. Lotss of great ideas and suggestions along the way. We were in good hands for sure.

We recently purchased an old home and needed to remediate knob and tube wiring prior to moving in. Ken Lam was responsive to our timing (get it done quick) and provided a clear quote that was a a good price, so we engaged him to do the job.

His team was great, he was very clear during the job on the surprises that came up and how to address them, and we always knew what we had to get done versus what was nice to have, which helped us manage the cost. I learned quite a lot about how to manage the home electricals during the job as well!

We recently had to have our outside electrical stand pipe re-attached to the house. It had come loose with time and strong winds. I called Ken Lam (416-720-6815) on a Sunday afternoon and he came to inspect that same night. He put us at ease and told us what to do in the interim (Hydro had to come and re-attach a wire) and he was back a few days later to do the job in no time and at the affordable quote he had estimated. He knows his stuff and is a man of his word, which, along with professionalism are all key elements one wants in an expert electrician like Ken. I already have him lined up for a long list of repairs/updates including rewiring the whole house.

Master electrician Ken Lam submitted the lowest estimate I received out of three total. He is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced, as well as a creative thinker when problem solving. I was pleased to find Ken on-site much of the time. The work was completed within the short time he predicted; His underlings are definitely speedy workers, but not quite as detail-oriented as he is. Ken is quick to follow up on all subsequent concerns long after the initial work is done, which is always much appreciated.

We knew that our lathe and plaster, knob and tube supplied house, built in 1918, needed a complete rewiring, along with additions and upgrades. We also knew that the work would be daunting, considering successive homeowners, obviously trying to cut costs with DIY electrical installations and repairs, had left the home with a rat's nest of faulty or unusable circuitry.
Ken Lam of Bastone Electrical Contractors came in, inspected the house, and, as noted in a previous review,
provided several well-reasoned alternatives to our own lighting and socket placement proposals.
A few days later, he emailed a quote, along with a detailed mapping of the expected work, in spreadsheet format. He asked for a 10% deposit fee, and gave us a payment schedule that coincided with work completion points. He arranged for, and followed through with, all necessary permits, inspections and certifications. The final payment was not expected until the work was completed.
Ken and his work crew were always polite, considerate and, as much as possible, accommodated our needs. As example, Ken, noting my love affair with my coffeemaker, made sure, no matter what else needed to be disconnected, that particular circuit was always available.
In spite of several obstacles to completion our house provided, the work was done as promised, with professionalism, on time, and as quoted. In the final analysis, all of our expectations were met. I came by this company through a word-of-mouth recommendation, and gladly pass the recommendation along.

I decided to bite the bullet and have all the knob and tube wiring replaced in my home after living with it for 10 years. I called a high profile electrical contractor to give me an estimate of time and cost and nearly had heart failure when he said it would take nine days to complete the job (in a small semidetached house) and cost $14,000. I remembered using Ken when I first purchased the house and decided to call him hoping he was still in business. He answered immediately and was at my house within 30 minutes (on a Saturday!) to look at the job. Ken emailed me a very detailed and competitive quote the next evening and work commenced the following week. Apart from a few defeciencies that were fixed the next day, the job was done a day early and on budget. Ken and his crew are a pleasure to deal with, they made minimal damage to my walls, and cleaned up perfectly at the end of each work day. I would recommend Ken highly to anyone looking for an honest, hardworking and qualified electrician.

Ken and his team did an amazing job replacing the knob and tube in our home and renovating various other aspects. Very reasonable quote, excellent workmanship and very reliable. We hired Ken to remove knob and tube wiring that was not everywhere but almost everywhere in the house. He provided a detailed quote beforehand, and as work went along we discovered extra faulty wiring that we hadn't expected. Because we weren't home when these discoveries were made, Ken made video and took photos of the problems on his iphone so we could see for ourselves.
He started work exactly when he said he would, and came with three other electricians. They worked for five straight days from exactly 9am until about 6pm every day, until the work was done, including patching the holes they had to make in the walls.
