We recently purchased a house that had a chimney (wood fireplace) in need of repair, and two side doors that needed to be replaced. The side doors were redundant, with the house having a front door and back patio door (the eventual plan for the house is to add an entrance into the attached garage). So we had them bricked up. The fireplace will be converted to gas, so we had it shortened and capped, rather than repaired. We contacted Bowman Masonry in the fall, and a quote was promptly provided. The quote was a fair price. Work was started in April (our delay), the crew were professional and took three days to get it done. We’re very happy with the whole process. We have some future masonry work to do and will have Bowman Masonry back to do that too.

I had specific chimney repair needs and I was very happy with the work performed. The workers knew exactly what to do and I was impressed with the safety precautions taken. They were careful to clean-up after so there was no debris left. I would recommend Bowman Masonry to anyone needing chimney repairs.

The fireplace was very drafty and in poor shape. The draft has been eliminated. I have not used the fireplace after completion of the work so am holding off on 5 stars for the moment!
The work was done promptly within the provided time frame. The crew cleaned up reasonably well. The crew also discovered that the damper did not need to be replaced as initially quoted for so Bob adjusted the invoice appropriately.
Overall good experience and will use them again when needed.

Bowman Masonry has done a couple of jobs for us over the past few years. They repaired and restored the brick work on a detached garage and, most recently, tuck-pointed some badly deteriorated areas on a Masonry wall. Both jobs were done with professionalism and I would not hesitate to use them again.

The work was done well. Leading up to the work could have been better. Contact with the company became an issue. The date the job was going to be started kept changing and I was left guessing when I should prepare for the work.

We had disintegrating stone on and around our front porch. Likely damage from salt, freeze/thaw and originally, poor installation.
Nigel repaired our porch; his work is beyond exceptional.

Crumbling pillar was restored with better material more resilient to snow, water and salt (previously used stone was too soft for this type of construction).

Our front porch cement was absorbing water which was leaching down into the brick below, and causing issues with stairwell as well. The stairs were crumbling from water damage as well. They cut out the cement stairs, stripped down the cement on the front porch as well, poured new forms for stairs, resurfaced the porch with a 2 coat system, fixed up all the brick surrounding the porch and stairs that was damaged, and fixed the underside of the porch as well, where the water was soaking through the concrete slab. Cutting out the stairs and the rebar was no easy task, and they handled it very well. I had a few small issues, and the GM came back himself the following day to look at, patch up, and fix; service was second to none.
