Midway was referred and Mike, who was pleasant, visited, consulted and agreed to replace our roof. This process began in late 2019 but in 2020 we realized, during a visit to the attic, that a vent hose was not re-connected. The pandemic arrived a few months later in March 2020 and follow-up on re-attaching a vent hose could not be completed. Revived activity commenced in 2021 and there was a visit by Mike who recognized the problem and agreed to return. It is now December 2023 and there has been no follow-up by Mike, notwithstanding various calls and e-mail. This company cannot be trusted!

In 2008 we called Midway to have our roof replaced. At that time they were recommended by neighbors. Everything seemed to be going well. The roof was installed in the fall of 2008 and they seemed to do a good job. The roof looked good, was completed quickly and the cleanup was perfect. The new roof installations workmanship was guaranteed for 10 years as well.

The following summer is when things started going downhill. Shingles started falling off the roof. We called Midway and the owner said not to worry he would have one of his crew come out and make sure they were put back up. We were happy that he was doing this. The owner said if we have any more problems with shingles coming down just to call and somebody would be over within a few days to repair them.

The falling shingles became a regular problem, every couple weeks it seems at least a half dozen shingles would come off the roof, we would call and they would come put them back up. After about 4-5 years of this we told Midway that maybe we should just get a new roof since this is an ongoing problem. He said don't worry about getting a new roof yet he would just keep sending somebody back to put the shingles back up.

That only lasted another couple months after that conversation. We tried calling and leaving messages and would not get any calls returned and nobody showed up to fix the fallen shingles.

This fall we decided that we had enough of the shingles falling and wanted to get the whole roof redone. We decided to go with Midway again, even though they never followed up on their 10 warranty, because we found out that the shingles that were used had a defect with the adhesive from the manufacturer and that is what was causing the shingles to fall, not the workmanship.

I called Midway at the beginning of July to see if they could come out and give a quote. I left a message and within a couple hours received a call back from a young lady saying that they have the house on file and that somebody would be over within a couple days to provide a quote. Nobody showed up. I called back again multiple times and left multiple messages and have not received one call back.

Midway was initially contacted based on a neighbour's "grapevine" recommendation. The original quote that was furnished for the Certainteed product that they market was competitive however, the follow up communication aspect of their customer service was nonexistent. I cannot comment on their workmanship as the deal failed to materialize when the owner finally returned my call and arbitrarily chose to rescind the aforementioned quote. Multiple attempts to reach the owner over the course of 6-8 weeks, to clarify small details, went unanswered and proved to be an exercise in futility. This alone raised doubts in the event of any concerns or future warranty issues. I personally, don't base the awarding of a contract solely on price and the failure to follow up with basic communication was enough to warrant exploring a more reputable contractor.

This company was recommended to me by a neighbor in June 2008. The quote for Landmark CertainTeed 30 year shingles was very professional; it even included references to view other properties in the area. After that it was all downhill.

The work crew didn’t deploy protective plywood sheets at ground level, and my neighbour’s house was damaged. Midway’s owner, Mike, said he would make restitution, but that didn’t happen. Their cleanup was hasty and incomplete — I had to finish that task. Their crew even walked off with one of my brooms. I issued a stop payment on the cheque to Midway, and I negotiated a $150 discount before final payment was made.

Fast-forward to May 2018 when a large section of shingles was ripped from the roof in the wind storm (see photo). I called Midway, because the work was still (supposedly) covered by their 10-year warranty. I left messages, but no one returned my calls.

I eventually called another roofing company, and they addressed the repairs promptly.

For the terrible Midway Home Improvements experience, I give them a rating of 1-star. I do NOT recommend this company — just say “NO WAY” to Midway.

I saw this company do a roof on the next street last September - I liked their work so I got a quote from Mike then - in April 2017 I decided to proceed - Mike wrote a very thorough quote covering the scope of work. He also made suggestions such as adding a second vent over the kitchen for better venting of that small roof. Also using diamondeck over the entire roof to qualify for a 20 years non prorated warranty instead of 10 years and an upgraded wind warranty to 130 mph . When I wanted Maximum vents despite his preference for ridge venting he was amicable about the change.

Overall I am quite happy with the workmanship done by Dan the foreman and his 5 member crew. They all seemed to know their jobs and worked independently without needing direction. The crew was mature and experienced - not a bunch of learners. They did a good job on cleanup and respected my and my neighbors property. I would hire them again without hesitation.

When they were two bundles short they were back the next morning at 8:30 am (as promised ) to finish with the missing material.

This was not the cheapest quote - I had 2 for less and 1 for more.
But it was the most thorough and customer friendly I think.

This company was recommended to me. I was worried about the one so-so review. They were very competitive, timely, did a great time and a good cleanup. My roof is steep with a couple of catwalks so not that simple. I also had some rotting. Great job! I will definitely get them to do my garage roof (detached).

Very good pre-service. Overall the roofing job appears to be a quality job, time will tell. Had a few issues with the job. Very poor communication. Did not call to confirm second date after rain delay. Had the upper roof deck replaced as part of the job. Wanted to take pictures of the upper attic due to a very poor insulation job many years ago. Because they did not confirm I went to work. Job foreman did take some pictures and said that he would send them to me. After many weeks of asking for the pictures, I gave up. Problems with the job. 1) Forgot to reinstall the bathroom vent. 2)Satellite dish was not reinstalled correctly, nailed down. 3) Shingles overlapped the gutters and had to be trimmed back. 4) Down spout for upper roof was not reattached correctly. 5) Gutters had a lot of junk in them, nails, wood splinter and plastic. 6) Many nails left on the driveway. 7) One or more of the baffles added was upside down. On the plus side, Mike did fix all of the problems and did a little more than he needed to BUT it took many follow-up phone calls to get the work finished. As part of the contract they did add insulation and baffles to the upper roof. I did notice, what I thought was a large amount of shingle grit in the gutters from the new roof. Will have to remove some of the rain gutters in the spring to flush all of the crap out. Price was competitive. The final number looks high but it included new deck on the upper roof($1500.00). Would cautiously recommend them. Be ready for delays in getting after job repairs remedied and poor communication.

Midway Roofing was an excellent Company to deal with. They are very professional and have a great crew. We obtained 3 quotes and Midway's price was very fair. Mike has been a pleasure to deal. We had an issue with our siding coming loose which had nothing to do with the roof and Mike came out and fixed it in a snow storm at no cost.

After researching several companies incl. BBB and Home Stars, I ended up with three quotes from reputable companies. Midway was not only the most competitive, but the most thorough and professional. The detail in Glenn's quote was impressive and reassuring in that the package also included jobs done in my community, with the address, type and colour of shingle. They were very helpful in providing me with colour samples of shingles, shutters and eavestroughs - which took some co-ordination! I appreciated the fact that they could take care of everything, including replacement of my eavestrough.
The new shingles on my roof (incl. 3 new pieces of plywood) were done on time and to perfection. Reno also did a wonderful job on the eavestrough. In both cases, the cleanup was meticulous.
This company was great to deal with, trustworthy regarding their products, the quality of their job and costs involved - no surprises in the end. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Midway's price was very competitive and Glen answered all my questions. The installation was completed on time and the cleanup was immaculate. When a small leak occurred Mike came over next day and fixed the flashing that had pulled away from the chimney during a massive storm. I am very satisfied with their work.
