Daimon from Ashlar Landscapes was very approachable and informative.
The quality of the work his company completed was exceptional. The job was completed ahead of schedule with beautiful results. I highly recommend Ashlar Landscapes.

Work involved:
+ Removal of all grass from front yard and creation of two large flower beds with stone edging.
+ Removal of all grass in back yard, and extending the existing interlocking (using same type of stones) to cover entire yard.

Work was very competitively priced and completed within estimated duration. Daimon's crew worked very hard and did a good job of cleaning up afterwards - no need for us to do any further clean up. Interlocking work was extremely professional and proper grade/slope away from house was taken into consideration.

Daimon also made some recommendations for remediation on the original interlocking which will be done in the spring.

We found Ashlar Landscapes on Homestars and were impressed by all the reviews, so we decided to give them a try. Daimon offered a free estimate (unlike other ones we contacted before) which was a big plus, and upon meeting him, we found him to be very honest, knowledgeable, and straightforward with what can and can't be done. We also offered very good design choices and options, and later presented us with a quote that was clear, concise and let us know what was included. He was also very accomodating to our follow-up questions and requests to visit.

We definitely do not regret our decision to go with him. In the space of less than a week, we has able to complete all the work we agreed upon (replaced the old back patio with a bigger, more modern one; made a huge side garden bed; repaired the front walkway...among others). Daimon and the guys were totally dedicated to the job - they started on time (if not earlier) and stayed until they finished what needed to be done that day (which took them past 5:00 some days). They were good in communicating ahead of time if there was a possibility that they may need to reschedule things due to the weather. The finished product was incredible! We're definitely in love with the patio now and find ourselves spending a lot more time there.

Last year we had Daimon of Ashlar Landscape (formerly Forest Hills Design Group) install an interlocking walkway and entrance steps at the front of our home. We were so delighted with the finished product that, this year, we asked Daimon to install a patio in our backyard. Because of a family event we requested a pretty tight timeline. Daimon worked with us to create a beautiful design and made suggestions regarding stonework selection for under our elevated deck which saved us considerable expense and blended wonderfully with the upgraded stone we selected for the main patio area. The combination of the stone created a wonderful contrast. Daimon and his crew shifted approximately 35 tonnes of extremely heavy clay from our backyard to ensure the depth was sufficient to support the installation. This was removed via a steep slope, by wheelbarrow over a 3 day period. Daimon, Brett and John worked non-stop in intense heat to keep the project on track. As was our experience last time, Daimon was very flexible to adjustments to the design so that, when the project was completed, we were totally blown away by the transformation to our backyard. We now have a space that is perfect for entertaining and has greatly increased the value of our home. We had 30 guests enjoy the patio this past weekend and everyone commented on how beautiful our yard looked. Daimon is without doubt one of the most professional, flexible, client service-orientated contractors we have ever had the pleasure to work with. I had cruised through Homestars looking for a recommended landscape contractor to tear down a raised stone deck and rebuild the staircase and add a new stone patio at ground level. I had read the reviews of many contenders but only two responded to my plea ! Pricing was critical and i needed to stay on budget as i had many projects to finish this spring and summer season to meet the deadline of a family wedding.
Daimon came to visit to view the scope of the job and made a quote within 48 hours. What impressed me was that Daimon was willing to reuse some of the orginial stone from the old structure to try to save cost. I am most pleased with the end result and Daimon quoted price never waivered. His crew were prompt and cleaned the site everyday. Thank you Daimon it was a pleasure!

I hired Daimon recently to landscape the front of my house. His quote was in line with others but I was impressed with his enthusiasm and knowledge. I had to wait a couple of extra weeks for him to start but it was worth it. The finished product is great. The walk looks terrific and the couple of changes to the plan he suggested were right on. There was a slight glitch with the colour of one of the stones and Daimon fixed it immediately. Clearly he wants his customers to be happy - and I am. We had Ashlar Landscapes out to do our driveway expansion and garden beds. We couldnt have asked for a better company! Very professional and made sure we understood what was happening each step of the way. Would definately recommend Ashlar to anyone else.

After the company who originally agreed to do my walkway did not show up on the previously agreed upon day of work (after we demolished the existing concrete path, leaving a mud path) and sent us a rude and drunk text message at 1am that morning, we decided we should find someone else. I logged onto Homestars and called the top 6-7 rated companies. I knew it was a long shot - it was late May and I was well aware how busy landscapers were. Daimon was only 1 of 2 people who called me back. I asked if he could squeeze us in as it was a small job. He agreed and sent over a quote that day. He was very communicative with us, and gave us the heads-up that he was coming a couple days in advance. He showed up when he said he would, was exceptionally pleasant, and very professional. He left the job site cleaner when he left than when he arrived. He completed the pathway in a day even though his saw broke late in the afternoon and he had to go rent another (instead of just calling it a day). The end result is amazing! He made style and design suggestions to us that were very smart and greatly improved the look of the walkway. I asked him to draw up a quote for our back patio while he was there so would definitely work with him again and would definitely HIGHLY recommend him to others!

We just recently had Daimon and his crew come back for a landscaping job in June 2010 to compliment the stone work he installed for us in 2009. With the previous work, we understandably had high expectations and once again Daimon didn't disappoint. A beautifully contoured garden was created with a wonderful selection of shrubs, flowering plants and a tree and further enhanced with some gourgeous limestone boulders.
Daimon is a real gem and such a pleasure to deal with. The work is done swiftly, punctuated with regular updates, all questions are answered and as was the case last year the bill came in as quoted.
We will absolutely have Ashlar back in future. There is simply no need to look elsewhere.

He showed up to our house for our initial appointment and quickly got to work providing us with a comprehensive estimate of exactly what we were looking for.
