We recommend Finished Basement to anyone who will listen. Our basement was completely unfinished. Our realtor referred us as he was very impressed with their previous work. We added a sitting area with a fireplace, a games room, a dance floor, bathroom and home theatre. They were fast, efficient, polite and they did a great job and from start to finish it was just over 2 weeks. There was a problem with the fireplace as the regular fireplace guys were on vacation but they came and got it working it quickly. We get lots of compliments from friends who we entertain in that space. Great job and thank you.

We rarely review companies but we were so impressed by finishedbasement that we just had to.

We did lots of research, including reviewing the numerous testimonials for all the available contractors, before deciding on finishedbasement. The only caveat to finishedbasement is that they are expensive, but as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for.

Honourable mention to the staff, Andrij was quite wonderful to deal with and very patient especially when explaining the same thing multiple times to ensure that we fully understood. All provided estimates were spot on so no surprises from the cost perspective at the end of the project. There was absolutely no pressure to sign with them and we were free to compare quotes prior to making our final decision. Igor, the owner of the company, had lots of great ideas/recommendations to help us maximize the space and achieve the most optimal layout, which was nicely complemented by Natalie’s efforts in helping us to choose the most appropriate interior decor. The entire team displayed the highest level of professionalism at all times and are truly skilled, dedicated, and knowledgeable in their work. They were always punctual, caused minimal disruption to our everyday lives and cleaned up every single day always leaving the place neat and tidy.

Our friends and family are very impressed by the work done in the basement and we have no qualms about recommending them in the future. Our finished basement has added value to our entire home and is regularly used.

We started the project not really knowing exactly the layout since the owner told us it would depend what they would find in terms of structure. That for us was the most difficult part.
After that we had a meeting with the lovely Victor, who designed with tape on the floor his suggested layout.
The day they started they figured out some parts of the layout needed to change and at the end it changed for better results.
Best part of this story was the experience with the crew, they really know what they were doing and were really helpful and patient.

Finished Basements (ISM Renobuilders) was easy to work with and easily met expected deadlines. (In fact, they finished a couple of days early.) The project is well-detailed in written form prior to beginning the work. Having a design center is a huge benefit and prices for upgrades and options are reasonable.

We were very pleased with the quality of work. There were a couple of minor issues to resolve after the work was complete, but these were addressed promptly. Any changes from the initial quoted price were easy to track. There were no surprises at the end.

Feel free to ask the crew questions during the construction process. Andrew (the salesman) was responsive to any other questions we had. Mr. Igor was terrific, too. The crew was hard-working and cleaned up at the end of each day.

Just a note to those who have not undergone renovations. (This is NOT a complaint!) Be prepared to deal with lots of noise and dust in other areas of the house. It is a given with this kind of project. Of course, the result is well worth it. The fact that Finished Basements completed the work ahead of time and on-budget makes it easy to recommend them.

From the initial contact to request a quote all the way through to the finished product, this company was fantastic. Igor, Vitaliy, Natalie and all the crew were helpful, experienced and pleasant to work with. With most families with teenage kids, they were anxious to have a finished basement to not only enjoy themselves but to entertain their friends and have their own private getaway. I researched quite extensively and decided to take a chance and hire Finished Basement based on their positive reviews. I was definitely not disappointed! From our initial meeting with Vitaliy, we were impressed with his professionalism, thoroughness and no nonsense style. What also attracted me to this company was that they have their own décor store where you can choose all sorts of options from flooring, to tiles, to bathroom fixtures and not having to stress and take the time to shop for these items yourselves. Natalie was great in helping us choose our colours and made helpful recommendations. During the construction phase, we were amazed with the workmanship and efficiency of the crews from the framers, the drywall and the finishing crew to Igor who helped with our designs and to Yuri the plumber, who not only did a professional job with our bathroom but also provided extremely helpful ideas and tips for areas of our basement. Each day, the crew would work 11 hour days religiously and take pride in their work and clean-up. The other major benefit of hiring Finished Basement is they have strong relationships with other companies that they recommend such as the cabinet maker, the ductwork company, and an audio visual company for our entertainment solutions. I ended up hiring these recommended companies and was extremely satisfied with every single one of them. Each of these recommended companies not only had the same professionalism and work ethic as Finished Basement, but they all know each other’s process where the homeowner does not have to worry and follow-up, which is a huge added bonus. Finished Basement not only exceeded our expectations but also completed the work in literally 2 weeks vs the initial estimate of 2 1/2 weeks! My husband and I and especially our kids are ecstatic over our new basement, and we can’t wait to show it off and recommend to our friends, family and our neighbours! I cannot express how happy I am with choosing FinishedBasement. Igor and his team were excellent! Finding a contractor was such a horrific experience, we called many of the top (local) contractors, half would only provide a quote over the phone, a third didn't return our call, etc. One company in particular, Penguin Basement, came and did a thorough review and quote and we were quite pleased. When it came to make a decision, we called, emailed, texted and no response back (this was after a spiel that they are always accessible). Completely deflated we went back to the drawing board looking for contractors on Homestars. I am Glad we did. Here is what I learned in my experience:

- Some contractors will budget just for labor and not material (this is a bonus if you wanted to hunt for good deals, but not great because warranty would be null)
- Some contractors would ONLY use their materials (much like a homebuilder) - not great if you don't like their options.
- FinishedBasements method was ideal for us, they created a budget within departments (i.e., electrical, plumbing etc.) and had a great showroom but we also could shop for those deals (they extended their discounts to us as well).
- another big thing was - they're bonded, covered by WSIB, and do the necessary permits.

The really impressive stuff about FinishedBasement.ca:
- they finished our basement in 2 weeks
- workmanship extremely high, workers were friendly, courteous, and tried to keep the job-site as tidy as possible (considering it was a major renovation)
- specific/special tradesmen (painters, electrical, plumber - so not general contractor who does everything)
- they came every day, on time and were accessible 24 hours.
- From sales (Andrij), to design consultation (Natalie), to Igor the electrician, to Igor the owner, they were outstanding.

We are so pleased with the overall experience, and are thrilled with our new, modern, comfortable living / entertainment space. We still cant get over the transformation.

With the horror stores of contracts out there it was such a joy to have finished basements do my job. From the start with Andrew to the last meeting with Igor the job was very professional and extremely well done. I can not say enough about the quality of the work , the commitment to the job and the materials that occurred during this (just a little less than two weeks) process. You never felt that they came one day and would not be back until the next week. The guys were committed to doing your work and were not spread out over 20 other jobs. I really appreciated the help from Natalie in working through the colours and materials. There was no hidden costs. All was laid out and explained. I have had a horror story of renovation to an on-suit so was very apprehensive . This has been such a great experience and I would recommend them over and over again!!!!!!!!
