Keith the service guy told my wife that we had black mold and it would cost $1069 on top of our original cost but we could pay cash to avoid taxes. I know it should have been a red flag and I've avoided and exposed scams before but I was at work and and quite bust and distracted when my wife called and told me about the mold.
We paid the money and when I got home and got the rest of the story from my wife I pieced it together and realized how badly we were taken.
This Keith character told my wife how he had 2 sets of triplets, was a single dad and his wife was committed to an institution.....story after story to distract my wife. They never put any benefect in our system nor did the chemical come into our house, also I assumed if there was mold that they would have been there for several hours and I would have been home to see what they were doing.
....to top it all off I found out afterwards through investigating the vents that they never removed 3 of them nor one of the cold return vents. I know for a fact because 2 of them are glued to my ceiling in the basement and were not taken down.
I called the service manager Jason at their support number (647 453 6500) and he has yet to speak with me. Conveniently he is on vacation until Feb 4th.
I am not letting them get away with my money and for anyone that has been ripped off by these guys add me on Facebook - Wade Loder in Oakville. We can get together and if we can prove a pattern of illegal behaviour by comparing stories we can start a lawsuit against them.
If you don't want to join me in doing this call the Ministry of Consumer Services @ 416-326-8600 (The more people that call the better.) and there are a number of private investigators if you feel it's worth going that far.
These guys rely on people being embarrassed or ashamed of being scammed. I am not one of them. I made a big mistake trusting them and now I'm going after my money.
I have also found out they run under many different company names and websites which homestars will not publish even though I have all the proof. Do a search for the phone numbers on the vacumax.ca website and you will see all the other sites that pop-up....mind blowing.
Also, don't believe any of the addresses provided on their sites. I went to their Burlington location. Not only does the office not exist but the postal code for the Burlington location is in Barrie. I have attached a picture of the address from a receipt. If you think I'm making this up by all means contact me and I will walk you through everything I have found to date.
