water leak and toilet install

We had a water leak and Service Master referred us to this plumber. A young woman, Sara, arrived and proceeded to look for the leak. She started by making a hole in the wall behind my toilet on the main floor of the house and then removing the toilet. Later she found the leak downstairs, went out for parts to repair it, did the repair, and then came upstairs to reinstall the toilet she had removed. She spent more than an hour reinstalling the toilet and then announced that it was too old and she could not get the right parts to do the job. She said that we would have to have a new toilet. We were surprised as the toilet was working perfectly well before she removed it. Our bill for her work was almost $1000.

A few days later we bought a new toilet and called her back to do the installation. She came at 8:30 in the morning and took four hours to install the new toilet. I called the shop where we had purchased it and asked how long the installation should take. They said it should take less than an hour and not more than an hour and a bit if there were a few complications. She installed the toilet and I heard her tell a colleague (who was here about the drain downstairs) that she had to pull it again for some reason. She charged us anyway. She ran out to her van 35 times in the course of her work. I counted because I became alarmed after I heard her run out there five times in five minutes. She burned my wall paper, baseboard, and white bathroom cabinet while installing the toilet. Then she went downstairs to reinstall a toilet her drain specialist colleague had removed down there. She had to replace the flange and this took three her hours. The result was that I received another bill fort almost $1000. The parts were minimal as far as cost, but the labour was $105 an hour and I feel that she was extremely inefficient at her job and took at least twice as long as necessary. I phoned her manager and left a voice message. He did not return my call. I complained to the Better Business Bureau of which they are a member. So far they have not responded to my complaints. I am looking now to see if there is a Plumbing Board that will review my bills in the interests of fairness. I also want the burn marks repaired in my bathroom.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,000.00
