RightChoice Roofing was hired to fix a roof that leaked only under certain conditions of heavy snow (3" or more) in late December 2009. The owner presented himself as an expert and experienced roofer and was paid $1000 to perform this repair. He supposedly fixed a gully and two valleys, and provided proper tie-in's with two other gullies - all to come with a full 5 year warranty as per the paperwork.
There was no heavy snow between that period and a few weeks ago when our roof leaked again and exactly in the same spot (both at roof and cailing level). Right Choice roofing was called in to rectify the situation. However after a 5 minute visual inspection of the roof and without clearing the snow, he indicated there were no "drifts" or any idications of a leak! After seeing the ceiling inside, he changed his tune and said he was fix the problem for an additional $1,500 and then $1,000! We obviously did not agree and he left quite angry.
We followed this visit with an e-mail the same night, to which he responded "obviously this was not the long term solutiion i had hoped it would be and a different solution is required". He had also called and left two messages the same night that he had time to think about this some more and would like to come in the next day to "rectify the problem". We gave him access to the property and during the two hours that he spent here, he only cleared the snow in that area on the roof, found some other problems with other areas of the rood and said that he was not as experienced last year when he fixed the roof and he knows how to do it now, but that we would only have to pay $500!
We did not agree and that same day, there was another major snowfall and the roof leak became even worse than it was a few days prior. We called Right Choice roofing and and sent them e-mails in the next few day, stressing the urgency of the situation. In this period, the price of the warranty repair went up to $1,000 and then back to $500 for material only! Since then, he has used every excuse in the book from not leaking at all, to leaking in a different area, to it already made it through 2 winters and finally his warranty did not cover "severe weather" as per paperwork (no such thing on paperwork as you can see for yourself)!!!
Rightchoice Roofing are the type of roofers featured on CBC's special program a week ago and are to be avoided at all costs.

As owner and operator of rightchoice roofing. I would like to express my regret for your unsatisfactory experience. I ve replaced, in entirety, a valley basin(gully) for two existing runs of valley. Each corresponding face which empty into gully, 75-80 percent of your drainage function for the gully i replaced for you is untouched, original roofing that was not completed by me. Your roofing issue was solved for an extensive period of time but due to deteriorating shingles directly above gully, for all three faces, has allowed seepage through original roofing to come in before my tie in for your new addition face, which in fact, new leak is up to 5' in from original leak, because of heavey snow accumulation on your roof ice barrier was formed and rainfall brought leak. At the time of my prompt return to your call back. My accessment was made and my findings lead me to my recomendations for you as to what needed to be done to eliminate issue but where not accepted.
I returned to your property again to try and verify that in fact my repair for you was funtioning. Completed extensive snow removal to verify and substantiate with you my findings. At no charge to you.
Due to these extrenuating factors which were contributing factors which lead to your current issue, i ve concluded, in all fairness and to the best of my ability varified that the repair i completed for you is in fact funtioning and your current issue is a direct result of a failing roofing system that needs to be replaced.
