Bought from and had 7 windows installed by Meridian Windows and Doors. Cost was around $7,500. We had several quotes from different companies. Meridian wasn’t the cheapest nor were they the most expensive. Sales guy was pretty good. Windows themselves are decent. Largest window (98"x73") leaks in 2 different spots. They also broke all 4 of the drywall corners surrounding this window. On all the windows 60% of the caulking has hundreds of different sized bubbles in it and they missed several complete runs of caulking. Apparently these bubbles form when caulk is applied at too cold of a temperature. When cladding was installed, 50% of it was done so that water pools on the cladding and against the window rather than draining away from house. One dining room window has shifted in the frame so the result is a substantial gap at the bottom of the window. These are the same issues we have been trying to get resolved since we noticed the issues.
There are also a few minor things. I will list them here as it just shows how unprofessional the installation was: Caulk was applied to peeling paint so no seal was formed. Spray foam was left protruding out well beyond the edge of the window/drywall. Multiple strips of caulk were just thrown into the flower beds and left. At least 1 window not installed square and flush within the frame making dry walling and trimming the window much more difficult. These minor issues we did not bring forward as we didn’t consider them to be significant and we dealt with them accordingly.
We have been in contact with numerous people at Meridian. Twice people have come out to see the issues and take notes. They also sent people out 2 different times to fix the issues. First time they did not bring the correct color of cladding. The second time the guy (who had come out a few days prior to look at the issues) just re-caulked some of the problem areas. But not all. Also he did not do the entire lengths of the window sides so the 2nd layer he applied is not in line with the original so it has a “step” look…brown caulk going along ½” onto the white window then suddenly it is 1” onto the white then after several inches goes back to the ½”. Additionally, the quality of the caulking job is unacceptable. He also added screws into the center of the cladding directly under the window frame, right where the water pools. He also didn’t bring all the required materials (again), namely the brown cladding, so he couldn’t fix the slope of the cladding. This was is in the fall of 2016.
Now it is spring 2017. When we call they repeatedly tell us to send “Igor” an email, which we have done several times over the past month, but he never replies back. They will not provide “Igor’s” phone number. So now after multiple phone calls, a fax, and emails (to both “Igor” and the Meridian email which in the past they have replied to), we are losing our patience as this has been going on for over 2 years. And they know what the problems are as they have twice sent people to fix them, however, they never bring all the needed supplies, even though we specifically tell them the window color, cladding color, and caulk color PLUS different people at Meridian who have come to the house to view and fix the issues have written “detailed reports” about what was wrong and what is needed for it to be fixed.
Hopefully this review will make people who are considering Meridian Windows and Doors pick a different company. Meridian will not be there to fix any installation issues. I don’t think they would be there for any other problems you may have with their windows either. Prior to winter 2016 their customer service was adequate. Now it is deplorable and non-existent. Stay away from this company. And FYI…both the sales guy and the guy who came to fix the issues in the fall of 2016 have quit working for Meridian Windows and Doors.
What we would like is for these issues to be properly corrected once and for all. After writing the paragraphs above I read some of the other reviews and comments posted Meridian. I just want to say that I don't think we are being unreasonable, unrealistic, difficult, etc. in what we want fixed.
We have included a few pictures to try and show (1) the issues with the installation and (2) the attempt that was made in the fall of 2016 trying to remedy some of the caulking. I want people reading this review to take it seriously so I have posted a small sample of pictures we have demonstrating the issues we have outlined. With regards to the bubbles in the caulk, the slope of the cladding, the unprofessional application of the caulk, these issues are present on more than just the window in the picture (meaning the same issues can be found on multiple windows).
