My worst home contractor experience ever. I called Bosco on the recommendation of a colleague. My appointment was scheduled by a very polite receptionist. From there it went downhill. From the moment he arrived, the repairman/salesman made every effort to sell me on unnecessary repairs he identified throughout my house, asking to enter rooms completely unrelated to the needed repair to look for hidden risks. I needed one thing done, and got a list of 20 with costs reaching into the thousands. After the exhaustive tour, he and his partner went out to the truck and crafted a series of quotes for work I simply didn't need. Then came the sell and my mistake of agreeing to get work done because I was home from work and the contractor was already in my house. What a mistake.
Here's what's still killing me though. The work I did need done was so vastly overpriced that I commented to the repairman, who simply defended their prices as being a) from a large company so there's more overhead, b) higher quality, and c) possessing a warranty. All true, but that cannot justify prices that hover around $645 for one hour's work(!). Parts would not have exceeded $100.
I feel completely ripped off. The upselling never stopped. I guess when you have a fish on the line, you don't give up. I felt like a mark in the sights of two conmen. Ultimately, my problem is not with the quality of the work. It appears as though the repair was properly done. The problem is value. The cost far exceeded the scope of work. Perhaps if they had spent less time wandering through my house looking for new problems they could have completed the necessary work I needed for less money. In any event, this was a one time mistake for me. I went back to the person who recommended Bosco to me and recommended to them that they never recommend the company again. Turns out they'd actually had no first hand experience with Bosco. Also, not only will I never recommend Bosco, I highly recommend that you not repeat the mistake I made of allowing them in to your home. Don't do it, you'll regret it unless cost is of no concern to you.
