Interior paint job

Kevin and his crew exceeded our expectations. They were extremely friendly, helpful in choosing paint colors and design and completed the job in less time then originally expected. We would use them again in a heart beat.

Painting, Sanding, Staining

I really enjoyed working with Kevin Moore of Moore Brothers Painting on my new home. The project involved paint on three floors, sanding of my deck as well as staining. Of course i wanted to work with an expert craftsman...but that wasn't enough...i wanted to work with someone who was communicative, creative, friendly and above all else enthusiastic about getting my business and enthusiastic about my particular project. As you will see in the pictures it was very much a creative job and signature paint job not found in many homes, even those professionally decorated homes in hoods like Forest Hill. The project went smooth, on time and on budget and turned out fantastic. So good that very few people enter my home without making mention of the spectacular paint job. Surely this helped with the resale value of my home as well this year! I was really happy to spend my money with Kevin and his company and that can't be said about all the products and services i use and pay for to say the least.

Home repainting

I worked with Kevin to repaint my house. He came over promptly, assessed the site and sent an estimate within a couple of days. For me, it was a formidable task, and the decision was not made easily--Photoshopping colour combinations, photographing houses... He was very helpful and informative in the process of picking paints and colours, and patient beyond belief. He really wanted me to feel satisfied with the decision and enjoy the new house that would greet me when I returned home. Kevin and his team were extraordinary. They carried out the job with complete control and expertise, always keeping things organized, ordered and clean so access was never a problem. Their estimate was very competitive and there were no hidden surprises. Everything turned out top notch!

Interior Painting

We needed an experienced painter for our main floor and upper level walls and ceiling. The ceilings were in poor condition with many cracks and peeling paint. Kevin and his assistant did an excellent job. Kevin has a pleasant nature and I am happy to recommend him. He deserves my 10 stars !

Painting condo, stucco removal on ceiling

My experience with the Moore Brothers, in particular Kevin Moore, was extremely disappointing. I chose this company based on their Homestars rating and was appalled by the level of service I received. While the crew was friendly, there were serious issues with quality and professionalism on Kevin’s part. I originally contracted Moore Brothers to remove my stucco ceiling and paint my condo. They ended up having to redo the entire job again because of problems with the original work.
The painting on the original job was fine, but the crew who removed the stucco and re-plastered the ceiling did a terrible job. It wasn't smooth and you could see scuff marks all over from where they scraped the ceiling to remove the stucco. The corners and the edges where the ceiling and walls met were bumpy and you could see excess plaster. Sadly, I found out that when Moore Brothers came back to redo the ceiling, the crew who did the original job realized that they did a poor job because they had no experience doing ceilings, only painting. When they ran into issues, they did not try to get an experienced ceiling person in, but instead finished and hoped for the best.
When I requested that the Moore Brothers re-do the ceiling, I had to follow up with Kevin several times. It was very difficult to get him to agree to show up and view the ceiling – and when he did show up he was late. Besides the initial meeting/project estimate, Kevin never showed up on time and a couple of times during the process, he never showed up at all.
Finally he agreed the job needed to be redone. Once again, I had to follow up with Kevin several times to confirm a date for re-plastering. This time Moore Brothers brought in the master plasterer that they typically use. This turned into a sore point because when I originally scheduled the job, and the master plaster wasn’t available, Kevin didn’t discuss this with me. There was a real lack of communication on Kevin’s part throughout the project. If Kevin had said he needed to reschedule because the master plaster was not available, we could have worked together to find a suitable date to ensure the job was done right. Unfortunately Kevin made the decision to use his own inexperienced crew. Considering how much I paid, I was very disappointed and upset to be an inexperienced crew’s guinea pig.
Unfortunately there were still problems … The newly painted walls were damaged when the crew removed the tape that was holding up the plastic sheet to protect the walls. The tape actually pulled the paint off the walls. The painters tried to touch up the areas, but the paint didn’t blend. The line of touch up paint was very visible. After seeing how poor the walls looked, I asked Kevin to come view the condo. He agreed the quality wasn’t acceptable but then started to complain to me that he was ‘losing money on my job’-- although in previous conversations he made it clear to me that the Moore Brothers do hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of work annually. The irony is that Kevin didn’t seem to understand that they were re-doing my job because of they didn’t get it right the first time because of his lack of communication, poor decision-making and project management.
Soon after, I didn’t see or hear from Kevin although problems persisted. He did not return my calls or answer my emails. I felt bad for the painter who was put in the position of being Kevin’s messenger. I heard from several crew members that Kevin was complaining to them about the loss of revenue and that I was being too much of a perfectionist with the painting and that it was ‘good enough’. After hearing this, I called Kevin again with the specific request for him to meet me at my condo so we could go agree on what areas needed to be finished and for him to communicate to me if I was being unreasonable. He agreed to meet me -- but then didn’t show up or return my repeated phone calls. We communicated through texts, and he agreed to repaint the last room. Unfortunately he didn’t tell his painter, and I had to explain to him what Kevin agreed to.
Three days later Kevin did text me to say that he wasn’t calling me back as he was depressed because bad things kept on happening during the project and he couldn’t deal with it. It was easier for him to walk away and let his crew be the interface with me.
In addition to the re-plastering and re-painting, the other problems/issues were: three of my lights broken, my furniture damaged, nicks in my hardwood floor, and a hard water stain in my bathroom on the ceramic tile bathroom floor. Sadly I found most of the damage on my own, and what really disappointed me was that some items were put back in a way to try and cover up the damage.
I tried again to call Kevin so that we could discuss the damage – he continued to avoid my calls. So I communicated in a final email to Kevin that I understand that accidents happen but what really made this so frustrating and disappointing was his lack of communication and his professionalism. I shouldn’t have to walk into the bathroom and be surprised by the stain on the floor when he knew about it. Lights shouldn’t be reassembled hoping that I won’t notice the glass is cracked. I shouldn’t hear that the original team who did the ceiling knew they didn’t do a quality job and hoped the paint would hide it.
The only response I got from Kevin to this email is that he isn’t paying for the damaged lights because he’s lost enough money on my home.
In closing, the ceiling looks great, the walls were repainted and I’m happy with them. I really appreciated the efforts of Kevin’s painter to do an excellent job. I knew he was between a rock and a hard place, but he kept showing up until the job was done right. The master plasterer who redid the ceiling is a master. However, the process to get to a quality job product was unacceptable and has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Unfortunately words cannot express how angry, frustrated, and disappointed I am with Kevin. This was not a cheap job, and it may be a small point to him, but it bothered me that at no point did he offer an apology. He didn’t apologize for the original poor quality ceiling, apologize for inconveniencing me to live somewhere else for two weeks to re-do the ceiling and painting, or apologize for breaking/damaging my belongings or my home.

Company Response

Thanks for the feedback. It is regrettable that there seemed to be a personality conflict between yourself and Kevin. We are happy that you were ultimately satisfied with the results of the work and wish you the best.

Painting 2 bedroom condominium

After having my ceiling totally re-plastered, the company I contracted out had Moore Brothers as their painters. After meeting Kevin and his painters and seeing the wonderful finish they did with the multiple square footage involved, I asked if they would paint the whole condominium. Kevin was very accommodating. With his help, we were able to pick all of our colors within 24 hours and seamlessly the painters finished the ceiling and returned for another 3 days to finish the painting. Kevin came in on budget, he uses only the top of the line Benjamin Moore paints but you cannot beat the quality of the finished product. Here we are 2 months later and we've completed so much in a short period of time because we found Kevin to do a job that would have taken me months to complete on my own with my busy schedule . The workers were on time, they were very courteous, respectful, and I would recommend them to anyone who wants a painting job done properly.

Crown moulding/wallpaper of powder room

After contacting several contractors, many of whom did not return my call or even follow up with a promised quote, I decided to hire The Moore Brothers. Kevin was so helpfull over the phone, and then came over to provide a more accurate quote. He was very detailed and thorough. Even though my job was a small one, he still gave me the same amount of attention and respect as though it was a $20,000 project. The job was finished in a very reasonable amount of time and Kevin made every effort to ensure that each step of the way the job was done properly and efficiently. Kevin is fantastic and I cant say enough great things about him. My husband and I love the bathroom and could not be happier. Great job to you and your team Kevin, you guys are an amazing bunch and you will be my go-to guy for all future projects.

Drywall/baseboard work, painting (interior/exterior), porch repair and parging, door installation.

When it came time to do various fix-ups and renovations around our house, a co-worker of mine recommended Kevin Moore and The Moore Brothers to me.
I suspect that we were probably one of those annoying clients who comes with a whole laundry list of little jobs to do, rather than one big project, but Kevin and his crew took it all in stride and were great.
We needed to have drywall replaced and repaired, the pillars on our front porch repaired and re-parged, basement carpet removed and the floor re-painted, rooms re-painted, and various other odd jobs done.
Kevin broke it all down for me and gave me a very reasonable quote. He and his crew did all the work quickly and efficiently. Kevin's a very easy-going and nice guy, so it made it a very pleasant experience to work with him. He offered a lot of good suggestions, and was good about responding to any questions or concerns I had about the work.
Kevin also "saved my bacon" recently, when our hot water tank sprung a leak a week before we were going to put our house up for sale. Unfortunately for us, replacing the tank necessitated cutting out a big chunk of basement wall (since a previous owner had decided to "build in" the furnace and hot water heater). I called Kevin up and asked him if there was any way he could - within the next few days - fix up our basement wall and install new doors for easy access to the furnace and hot water system. Once again, Kevin came through for us and got everything fixed up and re-painted so that we could get our house on the market as planned. Our real-estate agents were very pleased with all the work that The Moore Brothers had done, and we successfully sold our house in one week! There's no doubt in my mind that Kevin and his crew were instrumental in helping us achieve this sale.
I would definitely recommend Kevin Moore and the Moore Brothers for any job... big or small!

Painting basement and main floor, repairing damaged baseboards

These guys are great! We hired the Moore brothers after contacting a couple companies from homestars, and getting estimates for our painting job. The Moore brothers were the most reasonable of the three, and also gave the best breakdown of the work, so we knew exactly what we were paying for. Kevin was very easy to deal with, and prompt in replying to any questions we had. The finished job is fantastic...they were quick with the work, but very thorough, doing an extra coat of paint on areas that needed it, even though it wasn't in the original estimate. We will definitely be using them in the future when we paint the upstairs, and would absolutely recommend them!

condominium painted

If it were possible to give a company 11 out of 10 stars, that would be the rating we'd give The Moore Brothers. Kevin, our contact, was a dream to work with! We needed my late Mother's condominium painted quickly for an open house – Kevin and the gang somehow managed it all very last minute and did an absolutely beautiful job. They understood what we wanted, were reasonable in price and left the place neat and tidy. Everything went without a snag, even though we weren't on the premises to oversee things. They will be the only painters we use in the future and will get our highest recommendation to family and friends. Well done Moore Brothers!
