Vince was recommended by neighbors so we engaged him to do a major backyard renovation ($150k) that we wanted to do in 2-3 phases over the next few years. He was very good to deal with at first but the project went badly quickly. He first told us that he has teams that work for him to do most of the work. We later found out he does not have anyone that works for him - he subcontracts everything. One of the subcontractors flooded our basement early on in the project. Vince was good to take responsibility at first and got his insurance company involved so we could get it repaired. It took many meetings and various people coming to assess the damage only to have the claim rejected 8 months later despite Vince taking full responsibility. At this time Vince said there was nothing he could do and that he would not pay for the damages. Throughout the course of this Vince explained to us that he was having financial difficulties and the money we had given him to finance the project as per the contractual agreement was not reaching the subcontractors. I have had to pay for many things in my backyard twice now. I terminated the contract and lawyers are involved to try and recoup some of the money. This has been an absolute nightmare. I have a long list of things that were damaged or destroyed and we lost an entire summer with our pool and backyard not to mention the many months of not being able to use our finished basement because of the flooding. VPS is a one man show and he could not manage the subcontractors nor enforce any degree of quality workmanship. I would not trust him with another dime of my money.
