2 bathrooms renovated

We hired 310-RENO in February 2014 to renovate two of our bathrooms and we would hire them again for any other renovations or work. Kyle did the actual work and he did a great job, what a nice guy too. He told me each morning what he would be doing that day and cleaned up every evening before he left. Gave us good advice and options too when we had to make decisions about problems, like the wall is crooked or the tile won't fit exactly to the edge. He built us a walk-in shower with a bench and it looks terrific. We are very pleased with the results.

bathroom reno and walk in closet build

310-reno did an outstanding job, taking an unused bedroom/closet and extending our bathroom and constructing a walk in closet. They designed the entire project and finished it in the time they said. Dom made sure everything was up to our standards. We recommend them completely

Bathroom Renovation and Laundry Update

I was looking to fully renovate a washroom and slightly update a laundry room but wanted the job done professionally and with little to no hassle. I thoroughly checked reviews online and found 310-Reno had very high reviews on HomeStars so I took the plunge!

I am very happy with the work that was done on both projects and must say that Tony did a fantastic job. He was on time, efficient, polite and always cleaned up the work area each day.

I have no complaints and would recommend 310-Reno to my friends and family.

Basement Renovation

Mike Jackson and his team are punctual tradespeople. They are also very mindful to maintain a clean work environment as well. Perhaps the most important attribute is the thorough follow-up to assure the home owner is 'happy' with the finished product. This group doesn't walk-away from a problem, they work towards solutions. Well done Mike & the 310-RENO team!

Renovation of a 3 Piece Bathroom

[EDIT] 310 did make good on the promise below to send someone back to fix things. The work were more extensive than we expected, but we're very pleased with the final result. The shower tiling was redone and looks much better, plus a nice backsplash was added. The plumbing was redone as well and everything looks good. The process to get here was long, but in the end, it's the final result that counts. [/EDIT]

Our renovation didn’t fit with the bulk of the reviews here, and it’s difficult to understand why our job went sideways. While it’s clear that 310 does have a vast amount of experience, we saw neither expertise nor care during the execution of our project. Originally the contract to gut and renovate the bathroom was estimated at 2-3 weeks. By the end, we called it a day at 8 weeks, but we’re still finding things that weren’t done, or were done poorly. I think the main problem was that there was no planning stage; planning being the stage where we discuss what the final product is, and is separate from the contract stage where we discuss what major items the job includes. We brought this up, but were told the job was really too small to require it. In the beginning it proceeded well with good communication and while progress was slow, we were happy. However, by the time it got to finishing, things went south very quickly. Items we’d carefully selected and paid good money for weren’t shown care, items were broken (replaced by 310, but having to be special ordered), and the lack of a good plan became really evident. We did communicate with the 310 mothership, but the course did not change. My own assessment is it got to a point that no one was happy about the job and because of that we were getting poor work. The final product looks good at a glance, as you can see in the pictures, because we spent good time and money choosing nice fixtures and cabinetry to go in. However the installation finishes are lacking. Mosaic tiles are crooked, grout is cracked, caulking is peeling (applied to dirty surfaces?).

We hired 310 hoping that by contracting an all in one rather than hiring the trades individually we’d get them as a first line of defense in quality control and a central location for expertise. It would have been cheaper to hire the trades individually, but the spread over this would have been worth it if the job was well supervised and had a good outcome. This was not the case, and there was a lot of shortcomings. Vent fans were blowing attic insulation into the bathroom. Cabinet doors drilled and installed backwards (after a long discussion to get them installed at all). Each of these is a small item for me to fix, but it’s frustrating to have to do so after shelling out 12K on labour in a small bathroom. Things like the crooked mosaic tiles may never get fixed. As I said, I was happy with the first half of the job, but it’s the second half that sits visibly on the surface.

We’ve always done careful research in deciding on a contractor and have never had this type of experience. Contrary to most of the reviews here, I don’t think we saw anything approaching what should be expected for this kind of money.

Company Response

Hello Blair,
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback.
First, I would like to let you know that I am in agreement with your disappointment with what seems to be deemed a final product as I would not be very pleased myself if this was considered a final product in my home.

By no means do we plan to leave the current deficiencies as your final product. As you already know we were unable to do a final management inspection prior to collecting the final cheque due to conflicting schedules and you being out of town at the time. Collecting a final cheque from your mailbox and not being able to sign-off on the project with you face to face is the only reason the bulk of errors are still as they are.
We always require a final Project Management inspection of the work and this didn't happen.
If the Project Manager had seen these items, they would have been addressed without a question.

There was a lot of confusion with regards to your expectations on this project with regards to design services and relocation of fixtures, and this was a cause for some confusion and timeline expectations during the project. Squaring up the bathroom by shimming it by 2" on the one end coupled with wall mounted vanity faucets and built in medicine cabinets are not standard typical removal and re-install items (without specific mention) for most bath reno companies. We know there was confusion about this; yet we did install these items without adding any extra charges. We will try in the future to be more clear on design services and fixture relocation issues.

All in all, you are not a satisfied and happy client at this point and this is not how we leave things. We will do whatever we can to amend this.
We are currently working on finalizing the plan for an efficient fix to these install issues and are confident you will see a final product and beautiful bathroom you can be proud of.

Sorry for the annoyance and inconvenience; we will make it right and we will be in touch.
Sincerely,
310RENO Management Team

Kitchen renovation

It is our sincere pleasure to write this review for Oscar Visentin / Domani Design Group.
We hired Oscar for the renovation of our kitchen, and from start to final finishings the project went without a hitch.
Oscar and his team were friendly, knowledgable, forth-write and competent. Most important was his prompt communication.. He was always available to answer my calls or questions... We are very happy with the finished project.....We would gladly work with Oscar Visentin again.

Thank you Oscar!

Hello Teri, thank you kindly for this review. Not sure if this is Terry from the Winston Churchill and Derry area? If it is, it seems you've named the wrong company! If this is not the correct Terry, you should direct this kind review to the appropriate company!

Complete Master Bathroom Renovation

First of all, thank you all for your reviews – it was our first big renovation, and we found 310 Reno here. We only interviewed one contractor before meeting with Francis, both felt very comfortable with him and the company, so signed the contract soon after. Francis was our project manager, and he was courteous and responsive throughout this process. As this was our first renovation, a lot of questions we've asked must have been naive to him (and we've asked a lot of them), but he was always there to advice us and guide us in purchasing of supplies and design decisions, either in person or via phone/email.

Even though we ordered everything four months in advance, our glass tiles were delayed and we had to postpone the start of the project. Francis was able to reschedule us for 2 weeks later. Michael was the first person to come work on-site, he has gutted our old bathroom in mere two days. We've then been passed on to a two-men crack team of Sylvaine and Jacob, who were very professional, super punctual and extremely easy to work with. Their workmanship and attention to details are remarkable, and they saved the day a few times, compensating for our inexperience and/or our supplier’s oversight.

Overall, the reno took 3 weeks and we’re very happy with the results – thank you for making our dream come true!

310-Reno has just completed a renovation to our ensuite bathroom. The project was begun right on schedule and continued to completion without a break until it was done. Mike and Francis were prompt in returning our calls and emails at each stage. The work itself was done by Michael who was skilled, thorough and diligent. He showed up punctually each day, made sure our adjoining space was protected, and cleaned up at the end of each day. He was easy to work with, checking periodically to ensure that our requirements were met. We are very pleased with the result and would definitely use them again. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable company to handle their bathroom renovation.

310 Reno were engaged to renovate our ensuite bathroom (4-piece). The bathroom was completely gutted and replaced with a new shower stall, soaker tub, toilet and floating vanity. Beyond the obvious involved in a bathroom reno, there were special features to the bathroom which Daniel and his team were able to nicely install, specfically the pebble tile flooring in the shower stall, along with the dual-option showerhead (rain effect & waterfall effect), for a relaxing spa effect. We were pleased not only with the the end-result and the professionalism Daniel and his team displayed throughout the process, but we were particularly appreciative of the support Daniel provided given we have never undertaken a bathroom renovation before. We would recommend 310 Reno to others.
