We used U Save for some brick repair work and were quite disappointed. After one return visit for touch-ups, we were promised the work had been done as agreed and handed over a cheque, only to discover upon closer inspection that some areas (in locations where a ladder is required to view) had not even been touched. Yes, they did finally come back to finish the job but the overall process took a lot longer than it should have. We feel that the end product was not worth the money. For the time put in, we calculated that we paid U Save $350/hour....not much of a savings, especially for mediorce work.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $1,700.00
- Company Response
Tuck pointing (mortar repair) older homes with several effected areas around house can come with challenges one being getting all areas deemed applicable by client.
We do our best to repair applicable areas yet in rare cases the odd section may be overlooked.
When brought to our attention we respond promptly to address the issue.
Many companies will attempt any tuck pointing what so ever on a house due to the grey area of what is needed and what is not.
To insure that any potential further damage to mortar is addressed weathering of aggregate and mortar combined may have the appearance of being damaged to the untrained eye, but the expert this is a normal aging process without detriment. Only way to get all nooks and crannies is took point whole wall which is almost never the case. We did come back to finish overlooked area.
As for duration of work and cost, if work took twice as long to do would client have paid us more?
After all some jobs are completed quicker than expected and others take more time (it always evens out in the end).
I do take offense to quality of work performed as it was done to a professional standard.
