Grading deposit never received

Terrible customer service. I have spoken to a few of our neighbours who have also been waiting for the grading deposit to be reimbursed. After almost a year of calling and emailing, Vanessa finally called to say that they will be releasing the deposit. 2 years later and no one has heard from them. Town said that they did not receive anything from the builder. Stuck in a rut!

Will not give deposit back

Bought a house in 2015 in Sutton. I paid a $500 deposit that we were told we would receive back once property was assessed. I have been emailing Christina Homes for years asking when we would receive the deposit. In one email I advised we may were thinking of moving and would like to know if we'd get it back and that is the 1st time I ever recieved a response for Danusa the rep for Christina Homes stating we would forfeit the deposit of we moved. I went to my lawyer the next day who said that is a bunch of B.S! There is no such claus in the purchase of sale agreement. Another email from A rep named Vanessa now saying they are waiting for the town to release the funds back to them. I spoke to Town of Georgina 2 days ago who advised they released funds 2 weeks ago and the cheque was cashed. I emailed Vanessa again, called both phone numbers associated with Christina Homes both out of service and no email reply. Surprise surprise. They are shady!

New built

Very unprofessional builder.

The walls in the house were never sanded down before painting leading to very rough, uneven walls on touch. Some places are basically wrinkled. A contractor came in, sanded down some places, patched a big crack on the wall in the living room and said he'll be coming back to finish the job. The contractor never returned. Upon following up with Christina homes, they informed me that they won't be coming back because they don't need to finish what the guy left. My house is full of white spots on a beige paint and they are telling me that i need to do the painting. How do you start a job that you can't finish? I have attached some pictures of what was left in all the rooms in my house.

I still can't believe somebody with a license to build, will do something like this.

Be ware.

Christina Homes Sutton

Simply bad!

Buyers beware! Awful customer service, appalling communication, very unprofessional. My husband and I came to the realization shortly after buying from this builder that it was a big mistake. The decor selection appointment was held at the unfurnished model home itself and the very limited finishing options were available. At the decor appointment we were given a few pieces of paper informed we had 2 hrs to select our finishes. No assistance was given on the options to select, the sales person didn't even stay upstairs to answer any questions we had during the selection process. ((Sale person’s name is Danusa)) When we had to come back in to sign for the amended purchase we were informed that we had to pay upfront for half the cost of the upgrades. At no point during the selection process, or any time prior to that were we told that any upgrades added we needed to be paid for upfront. This is my 4th new construction purchase and I have never been asked to pay upfront for half of my upgrades. When I asked the sales lady (Danusa), why she had not inform us of this prior, she became very aggressive, extremely rude and tried to cover herself by saying that she had informed us. She even had our selection options wrong, when she sent us the email confirmation of our upgrades some items were missing and other items we didn’t select were on there. When I informed her that it was incorrect she very rudely said it was accurate and if we made any changes we would have to pay for a change request….. Thank goodness I keep my emails, I accordingly forwarded her a copy of our email communication which confirmed our finish selections. Instead of apologizing for her error and her unnecessary rude response she just sent us by email the corrected selections and said sign and send it back. We had numerous delayed date changes, which to some degree is expected with new construction however, our delays reached 9 months, but that isn’t the worst part…. Our final closing date was set, so most reputable builders will close when the final closing date is set as they get financial penalty if they don’t. We had three delayed closing notifications after this date. We were informed 3 weeks to closing that an extension was needed… then rolls around the new date and 11 days to closing on this date we are informed they need another extension. Than rolls around this new date and 7 days to when were are scheduled to take possession we are informed once again they need an extension of closing. New closing date arrives once again 8 days to taking possession we are…yes once again notified of another extension is needed. We were accordingly left with very little time to get short term living accommodations to be told 11 days, then 7 days and 8 days to taking possession that your house is not ready put us in a very difficult situation. Our lives were thrown into chaos to say the least and not even a courteously call was given for the continuous short notifications, we were notified by a general, generic email from the lovely sales representative Danusa. This builder doesn’t seem to have a clue what they are doing. We have spoken to other people in the community and not one person has a positive thing to say about their experience or completed product with this builder. The completed house we were lucky to not have many problems, we do still have major items that need fixing but compared many others in the neighbourhood our list of pending fixes is light and short. If you value your sanity and money do not buy with this builder.

New House in Sutton

Worst customer experience ever from a christina Homes LTD builder - Closing was delayed 3 times, the last delay was within 10 days of closing. Screwed up my financing completely. The bank had to extend the mortgage commitment twice. We had a slight delay in funding the mortgage - the funds came in late in the afternoon of the closing date. Our lawyer asked for a delay of 1-2 days to close, and we were shocked when the response from the builder was: you have to close today or your client will lose their deposit and home!!! our lawyer has never seen a response like this from any builder and he does hundreds of closings. Such disregard to the customer should never be tolerated by anyone! they are the ones who created the problem by delaying the closing and they threatened us to take the house from under us in the 11th hour and keep our deposit. not to mention 47 defects on the PDI list! very sloppy workmanship. I would advise to anyone to stay away from this builder and look elsewhere to a company that treats the customer with some respect.

New Home Purchase - Sutton West ON

This was our 2nd new home purchase. We purchased an "inventory" home from Christina Homes so I can't comment on delays on construction since the home was already built.

Build quality was very good. Many things are builder grade which is too be expected but many things were up and above builders grade. Our first home by a different builder used the cheapest junk and contractors they could find and this was really evident when we bought that new home. The review of the other building can be found by checking my profile.

Our PDI was performed 2 weeks before closing and we struggled to find any deficiencies. The 8 we found were so minor and ALL of them were fixed before closing.

One small issue which results in loosing a star over was due to some damage to a rain trough when they were erecting up the scaffolding in place to brick up the new neighbors house. I understand things happen but communication or lack of it getting a hold of the builder was a bit of challenge but this was resolved and shouldn't be a deterring factor in purchasing their homes.

UPDATE: Aug 11/16 A new service contact was put in place and any contact with the builder to fix any small deficiencies was corrected in very timely matter. Working with the last remaining site supervisor and service person on the site to this day has gone well. I would go out of my way to purchase another Christina Homes over some other builders.

All in all watching some of the other houses being built you can see there good work being performed by the trades and not all builders are on not on a equal playing field. Christina Homes does a good job so feel comfortable pulling the trigger on their homes.
