We were looking for a company that would not only pave our driveway but also do interlocking brickwork in front of the house along with steps by the front door. After talking with many companies that would do one or the other but not both, we finally contacted West York Paving after one of my friends had their driveway paved by them and was very satisfied with their work. From Remo, who came out to do the quote and to offer very useful ideas, to Louis who did the wonderful interlocking work and Joe and Frank (whose crew did the driveway paving) they were a pleasure to work with. Everything was done on time and for the cost that was in the original estimate. The paving crew arrived as scheduled and spent considerable time cleaning up the work site afterwards. We are already considering having them do more work for us. They are a truly professional company that we highly recommend!

Can't say enough great things about Joe and West York Paving! Joe along with entire crew are true professionals. Everything about the entire job from Joe showing up for the quote, removal and laying of the new driveway was done in a timely (weather permitting) and professional manner. We were especially impressed with how neat and tidy they were. Their trucks are clean and shiny and they cleaned up all the debris.

York West was recommended to me by Vern at Gazzola paving. He told me that they had the right equipment and people to do smaller driveways, or bigger jobs. He was right. I met Joe and Frank Barone, got a fair quote and a beautifully finished driveway/ parking lot. They gave me the thickness I required and paid attention to the details. They left the site clean. They use the best paving material supplied by Gazzola. The paving business has a bad reputation with a lot of fly by night operators. Use this company and you will be happy. Watching these guys work is like watching a formula one pit crew. Everyone knows their job and they do it well. They give value.

Had West York pave our driveway today. Frank and his crew were just fantastic, everyone had a job today and did so without any questions.
The whole crew worked as one unit were neat and cleaned up everything before they left. Can't say enough about them.

We shopped for a contractor to redo our driveway. We had prices with a difference of over $3000 from the lowest to the highest. When we contacted West York Paving we got a call back the same day to schedule a visit for the next day to provide a quote. One called us back over 7 days later asking us to measure our driveway. He would give us a price over the phone. Another never even returned our call. We had 3 in total actually come to the house out of the 6 we reached out to.

Joe arrived right on time, discussed all our options regarding single layer, double layer, grade of asphalt etc. explaining in detail the pros and cons of each. He was patient in making sure we understood the differences. They weren't the lowest price but they weren't the highest either. We believe they were the best value though.

They were at our home three times. Remove the old driveway, reset the concrete curb along one side and finally pave the driveway. Each time they arrived right on schedule. The crews were friendly, professional and efficient doing exactly what they said they would do and doing it very well.

We believe we may have actually gotten more asphalt thickness than we contracted for. We asked about the slope of the driveway for water runoff while they were doing the paving. For peace of mind they hosed down the asphalt in front of the garage to demonstrate the water running down the driveway toward the road.

There were a couple of very small spots near the bottom of the steps where the roller couldn't go. After tamping the aggregate still seemed a bit course there compared to the rest of the driveway. They got a small amount of asphalt from the truck without aggregate put it in place by hand, heated and tamped it. Now it is perfectly smooth just like the rest.

As a part of some landscaping we are doing, we made some driveway changes. Raymo and his West York team promptly and efficiently removed the old asphalt. We waited a couple of weeks, and the new asphalt was poured. The work was done quickly, and well, and at a reasonable cost. Additionally, we found the trucks belonging to the company/crew were always clean, bright, shiny red! Raymo is personable, friendly; and we found the crew to be focused and hard working.

They installed an asphalt driveway with an incorrect grade resulting in water flowing into my garage vs away. They promised numerous times last years to return and fix this but nothing was done. This year, I spoke to the owner, Joe, who refused to fix the problem unless I paid them the holdback money. Unprofessional and dishonourable.

After I added this review to homestars, West York Paving contacted homestars and told them that I was never their customer. Fortunately, I had written proof of my payments to them and their signed agreement to return and correct their faulty job. Again, dishonourable and dishonest.

I needed to have my driveway redone as it was quite old and cracking in various areas; since I was doing the driveway I decided to completely redo the front walkway upto the front door of the house and also install a backyard patio.

My wife and I decided to obtain a number of quotes to get a ballpark figure, while we looked at stone interlock solutions and concrete options. We ended up going with stone due to the additional curb appeal and the very nice finished look.

Joe was one of the companies we contact to provide a quote. From all of the ones I had received, his was the most reasonable cost-wise and he was one of the few companies that did not increase their quote then offer me a ‘discount’ if I posted a positive homestars review for his company, like others did. Based on his professional demeanour, apparent knowledge of the work and ability to customize the work to my needs (ie. we had a metal bracket in the backyard holding up our A/C and they had to get underneath as I didn’t want to remove, they offered to remove our backyard door to fit through and also cut it since the height was going to decrease when installing stone from grass previously).

The men who were installing the stone were very particular when cutting the stone to fit and did clean work. They knew what they were doing answered all our questions regarding the installation process and post-maintenance with knowledge. We appreciated their professionalism in completing the job.

Joe provided references when requested and the visits to the work done in the last 1 & 2 years seemed to hold up pretty well. We are posting this a couple weeks post-completion so we cannot say much about how the stone holds up over time; however, it looks beautiful right now.

I did have a slight concern that the company is well known for residential and commercial paving, and that I was getting them to do stone work. But after speaking with the guy Joe uses for stone (Remo) he was great and felt good with the choice we were going to go with.

I would definitely recommend West York Paving, Joe and Remo, and the work they do.

The only negative was that the session had to be rescheduled a couple times, but each case was due to terrible weather (remember the spat of snow that Toronto received in early April 2018?) and couple other times when there was heavy rains. Apart from that, which was out of their control, a pretty satisfied customer!
