I needed to have my driveway redone as it was quite old and cracking in various areas; since I was doing the driveway I decided to completely redo the front walkway upto the front door of the house and also install a backyard patio.

My wife and I decided to obtain a number of quotes to get a ballpark figure, while we looked at stone interlock solutions and concrete options. We ended up going with stone due to the additional curb appeal and the very nice finished look.

Joe was one of the companies we contact to provide a quote. From all of the ones I had received, his was the most reasonable cost-wise and he was one of the few companies that did not increase their quote then offer me a ‘discount’ if I posted a positive homestars review for his company, like others did. Based on his professional demeanour, apparent knowledge of the work and ability to customize the work to my needs (ie. we had a metal bracket in the backyard holding up our A/C and they had to get underneath as I didn’t want to remove, they offered to remove our backyard door to fit through and also cut it since the height was going to decrease when installing stone from grass previously).

The men who were installing the stone were very particular when cutting the stone to fit and did clean work. They knew what they were doing answered all our questions regarding the installation process and post-maintenance with knowledge. We appreciated their professionalism in completing the job.

Joe provided references when requested and the visits to the work done in the last 1 & 2 years seemed to hold up pretty well. We are posting this a couple weeks post-completion so we cannot say much about how the stone holds up over time; however, it looks beautiful right now.

I did have a slight concern that the company is well known for residential and commercial paving, and that I was getting them to do stone work. But after speaking with the guy Joe uses for stone (Remo) he was great and felt good with the choice we were going to go with.

I would definitely recommend West York Paving, Joe and Remo, and the work they do.

The only negative was that the session had to be rescheduled a couple times, but each case was due to terrible weather (remember the spat of snow that Toronto received in early April 2018?) and couple other times when there was heavy rains. Apart from that, which was out of their control, a pretty satisfied customer!
