Electrical shorting and blown fuses.
Last night, I came out from a shower to smell wires burning. I found one outlet just outside the kitchen was sparking and smoking, so I ran downstairs and shut the power off. When I removed the outlet, one side of it was melted. The thing is, nothing was plugged into it.
I knew that if the outlet was not connected, we would be okay until the morning where I could have a better look at it.
But, when I put the power back on, half the house went out.
At this point, I was worried. I was was able to get on line and do a Google search under "Electricians/Oshawa" and found the Captain Electric site and read the reviews as well as all the certificates.
Viewing the certificates can really ease a persons mind, and this is the main reason why I chose Captain Electric.
So I called the company at 9:50am today (Saturday) and was asked to leave a messege and that I will be called back within 15 minutes if this was an emergency, and to me, it was.
Dave called back within 10 minutes and I described to him over the phone what our issues were.
I was quoted the price to come out on an emergency call and agreed to the cost.
Dave was at our house within less than 1 hour.
Before any work was done, Dave showed me all his credentials and explained in detail, but in more of layman's term of what is going to happen and confirmed the cost as agreed over the phone.
What Dave did from there was beyond exceptional. Not only did fix a few issues, he explained to me everything that was wrong with the wiring. It was like a step-by-step tutorial that brought everything to light. We've have had "electricians" in before, and never had this much information. They ("electricians") came in, fixed it and left. There were issues with our fuse box that the others should have pointed out and never did, but Dave took the time and consideration to point out these issues. For that, I'm very thankful. Dave also wore "booties" over his shoes, even though I said it was not needed. He kept them on the entire time.
Dave is a very kind gentleman that I feel truly cares about his clients. I likened him to the Mike Holmes of the electrical field. Do it right the first time, and that he did. He represented Captain Electric with flying colours, and this is why I'm writing this review.
I can't express enough of how happy and relived I am that I called Captain Electric and being able to meet and talk with Dave.
I recommend calling this company for any electrical work, and I will be calling on them again to replace a fuse panel to a breaker box.
Thank you Dave! You're a great person and electrician.
And thank you Captain Electric for keeping very high standards and having great staff.

Keith, thank you for the positive review. We believe that it is our responsibility and our duty to inform homeowners of any safety issues with their electrical system. This involves first taking the time to fully assess what the hazards are, and then taking the time to explain things thoroughly and provide any options that might be available. This way the homeowner can make an informed decision to proceed with any repairs. In regards to the reference to Mike Holmes, we see electrical disasters everyday, just like Mike does; and yes, we want to make things right (always do the right thing). Thank you again, and we look forward to being of service in the future.
