Thirty year AC unit planning to replace it in the spring 2025. Unit began to make a rattling racket but still cooling the house. Called Maple Air, tech sent out. Checked blades, and amperage of electric motor. Motor drawing excess amps...>>>bearings going in the motor. What I appreciated was the honesty of the tech...."no sense to fix it....use sparingly until end of summer (5weeks), and replace next spring." I had told the tech that I was going to be replacing both the AC and the furnace in the spring. Tech also followed me down to the basement and answered numerous questions I had concerning heating system. The most remarkable end effect was the next day when AC came on....no rattle. Why? Top and side panels were removed during inspection, and putting the top back on was a struggle. Tech noticed right away screws were different lengths, probably in last servicing...10 years ago by a different company, the wrong screws were used in the wrong places. I would recommend Maple Air, honest informative techs. Probably next spring, I will be writing a review re. sales staff and installation. Oh, by the way tightness of panels/screws was the first thing I had checked prior to phoning a tech to be sent out.
