Water Heater Repair

Our experience with Knight Plumbing was horrible! We engaged Knight Plumbing to fix our water heater that has stopped working. The worker told my wife that the valve was broken and we need to pay an extra $200 to replace it, on top of the repair fee. The valve was all intact and proper before they came over. We never had a problem with our 16 years old water heater. Despite that, the valve that was shown to me was bent and seemed to be a result of turning in the wrong directions.

My wife was alarmed and felt injustified why we have to pay for a mistake they have made. Technician Supervisor, David, was very rude on the phone and told us that whatever that happened in your house, you have to pay for it. My wife was very frightened and was tearing up because that is not the way how a person should be treated and definitely not the way a company serves the customers. We felt threatened and felt that if we do not comply, we will get more trouble coming our way. I stopped work halfway and rush back and I suggested that in that case, why not we split the cost. We were told to NEVER CALL THEM BACK FOR ANY PROBLEM if we want to lower the price.

Problem does not end when they left. We discovered that our furnace did not work. We did not dare to call them and check with them and had to call Atco. ATCO only came at 3am and told us that one of the wires from the humidifier is in contact with the furnace which results in a short circuit. The furnace was working before the Knight guys came.

We are really disappointed with Knight Plumbing which on the website, boasts of Friendly professional technicians, Satisfaction guaranteed on installations AND repairs.

On your website- “If all you need is a repair, then that’s exactly what you’ll get.” We got more that we needed. Bad rude service, a furnace that is not working, staying till 3am, a nasty phone conversation with David, an extra charge for a valve.

I would like to thank you for your review and comments. I am somewhat confused with your concerns. We did multiple repairs at your home with your consent and also your knowledge. We replaced the Hot Water Tank because it was under 8 years old and leaking. It was in fact under warranty from the manufacturer and this tank was in fact replaced. There was an issue with the Main Shut off Valve to your home. I believe this is the valve you are speaking of? This was also not working and therefore the reason we assisted you in calling the City of Calgary out to shut off the water to the home so the Main Shut off Valve could be replaced. The handle may have been bent but it was the inside ball valve portion that was not operating correctly. There was also considerable rust on the "C" Vent on your furnace. This was also replaced with your consent and authorization. At no time did we touch the humidifier or go inside the furnace so I am unsure as how this would be our fault for a loose wire or grounded wire. As for the phone conversation I was not a part of this so therefore cannot comment as to what was said by either party. It is my understanding that you and your wife were both on the phone with our Technician Supervisor, and were insisting on a price reduction and wanted to negotiate the costs of repair after the fact. We did in fact try to work with you and your wife and also did give a reduction in price as a courtesy. I would be more than willing to discuss your concerns in more detail but feel that your review is not truly reflecting the actual work that was needed and performed in your home.
