I called Clearview because I had a moen shower pin and cylinder stuck in the valve. Paul said he'd try to get it out, after much yanking and pulling they both came out of the valve. Paul inspected the value and said it was in good condition and "thank goodness because it could have cost $1000+ to replace the valve and then the tile work". We all celebrated that Paul "preserved" and was able to "save the day". He installed the new shower handle, then asked me if I wanted to add on the other shower component for an additional fee of $250, which I did. I wanted this work done correctly. Paul ran downstairs into my mechanical room and turned the water back on. He placed the handle components together and we set a water temp. Paul gathered his thing and I paid about $550.
Little did I know the valve that was "in good condition" was leaking due to the damage sustained from the Cartridge and pin removal. There was absolutely no leaking prior to this work done by Clearview.
The leak went down the wall and into my basement all over my electrical panel for a WEEK!!!! Because I don't go into mechanical room this went without noticing until finally there was enough water for my electricity to short out, thank god!!!!! The electrical damage was a total mess and cost $700 to repair, not to mention damage to all my husbands tools and all of my childhood pictures and treasures that were stored there. I was absolutely heartbroken :(
A technician did come out to my house and inspected. He gave me a quote for $1200 with a possible $200 credit for the work previously done - Because he too agreed that "Paul likely didn't check the work, because the leak was very obvious and fast"....we all knew someone was at fault.
The technician came out and took apart Paul's work we could see right away the was a fast leak from the valve. He said he cylinder and pin were in new condition. He said it we still a possibility that the cinder failed so we ran out and purchased a new cylinder..still leaked.
Ultimately it was noted that the valve was badly damaged and leaking from the sides.
It was so bent I could see it with my eye and I am no plumber. I was in shock!!!
How was this missed? Simple, Paul he didn't check his work before sealing up my shower handle...and he never returned to my mechanical room to check if there was a leak.
I called Clearview hoping that they would resolve this issue with great customer service - unfortunately they suggested I call my insurance and that there was nothing they could do for me. Do yourself a favor do not hire in a Clearview - their work could fail (after all they are only human) and if it does you will be screwed and worst off than you started.
Please note that if Paul had discovered the damaged valve and would have suggested that I replace the entire valve, I would have done so! I wanted this work done correctly and right. Valve replacement was never recommend to me. "All was good" - Paul!
Lastly, when I hired a new company to repair the valve we discover that CLEARVIEW took my brand new valve that I had come with my new shower kit!!!! WTF is that crap! I had to go out and purchase and entire shower kit again to ensure everything fit! $170 down the drain!!!!!! So aggravating that my parts were taken from my home.
I asked for my valve to be returns to my house....never happened. I was never offered $ for the replacement either.
