Leather Sectional

The Good:

I read all the negative reviews and was concerned that my wife wanted to buy a 4 piece sectional from them. I do woodwork as a hobby and was concerned about the construction of the sectional. After finding out who the actual manufacturer was (that was like pulling teeth) and also looking at the floor model construction I was satisfied that it was not poorly made. My wife ordered the leather she wanted and we were told that it would take about 6 months before it was made and ready.

It came in about 6 months ( a little longer) and I was at home for the delivery. The contracted delivery guys were OK. They carried my pieces upstairs and placed them where I wanted them. I looked at the leather and it looked great, no damage or flaws.

The BAD

The sectional came with 2 electronic reclining seats (one was a lounger and the other the standard type of reclining chair). I went to plug them in to test them before I signed the OK paperwork that the delivery guys needed. The AC plugs were european not North American. I asked the guys if they left the adapters in the truck and they said it didnt come with any. So now I am pissed. I wait 6 months for sectional and I cant plug in the reclining chairs. The drivers calls Mobilia customer service and they say that it will be taken care of. I sign-off and drivers go.

THE UGLY:

Once the drivers are gone I look at the power supply rating that is on the underside of the recliner and notice that it is good for 110V to 230V. I think, great - all I need is a couple $2.00 adqaters from the local electronics store (converts european plug to NA plug). I go and buy 2 and plug the first one in and the longer works like a charm. Plug the second one in and nothing happens although I hear the motor running. I turn the chair over and see that the electronic piston assembly hinges are snapped off the chair on both ends. The hinge supports were made of plastic - totally ridculous!

I call Mobilia and also send pictures (still same day as delivery). They already knew about the wrong plugs and I told them I had no way of knowing the recliner mnotor was damaged until I got the right plugs. I wait a couple of weeks for a service person (contracted but very helpful) to come out and look at the parts that I know are broken.

He orders new parts through Mobilia - I wait 6 months for new part. New part is wrong part! It does not fit at all (not the contractors fault as he ordered the model number that was on the unit).

He removes the old broken part and says that it will be sent away to ensure the right part comes. I wait another 4 or 5 months and part comes in minus the hinge pins that were removed from the old one.

So I have the right part but not the hardware to install it! I looked at the pictures that I had on my PC from about a year before and said that they were pretty standard pins and locks that held the hinges in place. I said he could get them at Canadain Tire or PArts source. He got the OK from Mobilia to get me the pins from there (if they had not I would have told him to leave the motor with me and I would do dit myself...). He went got some pins, hooked it up and it worked... except..... the recliner foot rest would not come all the way out!

I was about to snap! We turned the chair over again and we noticed that there were some wire rods that seemed to be preventing the chair from fully reclining. I said they looked like they were there to keep the unit secure during shipping. He was not sure but I said I would be back in a moment. I went to my workshop, got some heavy duty pliers and bent the rods of that were holding the footrest in place.

We tried it out and it worked like a charm!

After a year my sectional is now the way it should be!

Would I buy from Mobilia again? Probably only if I bought something that they had in stock. There sales people are friendly (At least ours was) but they wipe their hands clean after the sale. Their customer service is poor.

2 Chairs

Unfortunately, I did not read any reviews until after I had problems with this store. Please, if you read this do not deal with this company.

I won't go into all the details (too long to write), to summarise, I never got the chairs that I bought and Mobilia, at all levels of the company, refuse to deal with the problem and will not refund my money.

Luckily, I made the purchase through Visa and I have lodged a dispute and I am expecting a full refund (this can take up to 8 weeks).

For me, this has been a huge learning exercise, and I hope that it wasn't too costly.

leather sofa

We bought a sofa from this store last year. It took 4 months to deliver which we expected but when it was finally delivered, the mechanism on the headrest was stuck. It was like asking for a nuclear warhead just to get the thing fixed. I was told that someone will call me to inform me that "it would take 48 hours" for someone to come. I suggested that they should hire someone to check the mechanisms that they install in furniture. It only takes 30 seconds and would prevent this very expensive operation. I also asked for the supplier of the said mechanism because I don't think it would last. The repairman showed me better mechanism, much more sturdier than what was used. Probably saved $1 for every mechanism, but they lost us and my friends and relatives as customers.

Dining table

The quality for the price is extremely low. Mass produced furniture that get banged up when shipped from overseas. They get such a low price on the stuff that they write off all the damaged stuff. The prices are jacked up for the consumer because of this factor. Such a disappointment...I would never again shop at this story now that I am knowledgeable. Sure the pics on line look great until you get multiple defective pieces. Having to replace our items 3 times indicates that there is a major problem with the merchandise. Buyer beware....mobilia is a huge huge huge disappointment.

Purchased work desk from Mobilia, Marham

I purchased two work desks from Mobilia last month. On the day of delivery, the guy found that one big piece (glass for supporting the monitor) was missing. He called the delivery center and the answer was "no idea why and can't tell when I can get that piece for you". I waited for almost two weeks to get that piece back. BUT another thing was missing AGAIN - the "key/screw" to connect the glass top to the table. Luckily the delivery guy had some other tool to put them together. And the delivery center said they would give us the "key/screw" back on the following Saturday. GUESS WHAT - no one came on Sat and we called them again. They said they can't find an extra one and we need to wait again. NO ONE called us before/on Sat about that and they simply didn't show up. IS THIS THE RIGHT WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS? I don't understand two piece could be missing in a box, they really have problem with their QC. I will tell all my friends/families and anyone I know not to buy furniture from Mobilia.

Italian Leather sectional with chaise

I bought my very expensive lItalian sectional about 4 years ago now and aside from waiting almost 16 weeks for it (sales asoc. Ordered it backwards first time) the wood stretcher that runs on the underside of both the sofa portion and chaise portion has cracked. You would think they would have researched the max length a stretcher should be for the weight of people sitting. I do not see how it can be repaired. My husband has put blocks of wood under the cracks to support it as it will only get worse. I wonder what the president would say if I sent her the photos? Probably too busy with her "funny" commercials to bother with resolution, but I'm going to try.

PURCHASING LEATHER CHAISE

We were looking for a contemporary styie chaise for our new master bedroom seating area. We loved the look of this leather and chrome chaise which has a slim look and not bulky. We found one at Mobilia furnishing store , Markham and we ordered it. When we received it and brought it home we realized it had some oily stains on the leather. we took it back to the store and were promissed to get a new one shortly after. It took many calls and a few months, call to the warehouse, manegers, etc. until they said they have a new one for us. We picked it up, sterted using it and after a short while the stains appeared again. Apparently they did not get a new one for us but somehow covered the stains which was good only temporarily. We never pusued it further but we know they were not honest with us.
This store has some very nice pieces of furnitures but you have to be cautious with their service, it is bad.

What a scam - cheap quality furniture at highend prices.

What a scam, not just on the quality of products, but on the service guaranteed. This is a case where you DO NOT get what you paid for. We purchased a bedroom set from Mobilia thinking that if we purchased high-end furniture, we would get quality furniture that would last longer as well as the service to back it in case of a defect. We were told instore that the bedroom set we were purchasing was all wood, manufactured in Canada. Upon delivery we found out the bedroom set was manufactured somewhere in Asia and assembled in Canada. We purchased the complete bedroom set in July of 2011 and within 2 weeks of owning it, the bed frame broke while I was sitting on it and at the time I was 8 months pregnant! I am a very petite woman and was not much bigger during my pregnancy, overall no reason for a brand new bed that is part of a $3700 bedroom set to brake.

Due to miss-communication at Mobilia the service technician was continuously sent to the wrong address to fix the bed. This went on for over a week at which point we fixed the bed ourselves. I gave birth soon after and we left the issue on the back burner. Fast forward to 6 months later, February 2012 and our entire bedroom set is falling apart. The top layer of the furniture is lifting in spots. We contacted Mobilia once again and at this point requested a full refund and to return the bedroom set. If a bedroom set is falling apart after only weeks of owning it and then more issues at 6 months, then one can imagine what will happen in a few years, it wont last.

Since contacting Mobilia again in February we were given the run around, finally getting a service technician to come take pictures on March 14, over a month later after contacting them. Mobilia's final verdict: to fix the defective bedroom set by gluing the areas where the top layer is lifting. Yes, their answer for resolution on a $3700 bedroom set is to glue it. We declined such “service” and continued our fair request for full refund on the defective bedroom set but were obviously turned down.

We have since contacted a lawyer and will be filing a lawsuit against Mobilia for personal injuries sustained when the bed broke with me while 8 months pregnant, as well as lack of service rendered, and product guarantee, all stated in their purchase contracts and invoices.

Large 10 seater wooden Dining table

This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They have delivered three time wrong base of the dining table - that does not match with the top. No proper response from the customer service, they dont even pickup the phone. If you are lucky and they pick up the phone, they dont even listen to your problem - very rude. However, after calling thousand times, I somehow managed to get the correct table in fourth time after one month of my purchase. The famous statement - "We only deliver on Saturdays".

I would never buy any stuff from them and will not reocommend as well.
