Company has the distinction of being my first bad experience with movers
Although Adam's came highly recommended I was very disappointed in the service I received. I'd love to just forget about this awful experience but I keep finding new scratches and gouges on my old but much loved furniture some of which I've had since childhood :(! They were just so careless from start to finish. - Nobody went over the paperwork to confirm the details before beginning the move - One of the movers wasn't wearing a mask when he first arrived - I had to ask him to put one on. - They didn't bother to wrap the sofa, chairs or any of the wooden pieces to protect them from the rain - they claimed they were going to pad it in the truck but they took them through the rain unprotected to get to the truck - They didn't even take the time to take the wooden legs off the sofa to wrap them (they're all scratched and gouged now). - They piled wood furniture on top of wood furniture on the dolly without padding - They took no care in making sure the boxes remained the right side up, and joked about how they were going to try to fit the whole apartment into a single elevator load. - They asked to take a break in the middle of a two hour job which I've never heard of before. - My much loved desk has a gouge in the right hand corner which I will now have to repair. They were hurried and careless like they were trying to get everything done as fast as possible. But not so fast they couldn't take a break in the middle of the job. In the past I've used other moving companies both of which carefully wrapped the pieces and took far more care with my belongings then the movers Adam's provided. How I wish I'd gone with one of the previous companies I used rather than taking the recommendation to hire Adam's. Absolutely heartbroken about the desk :(
In response to the company's response below: As you say they were well under the 4 hour minimum, and so my point about the elevator comment was that they didn't need to try and fit everything into one elevator load. There was ample time for them to wrap the furniture, to remove the legs from the sofa and wrap them so they weren't damaged, they didn't need to overload the dollies and pile wood furniture on top of wood furniture with no padding and stack the boxes any which way. After all, I was going to pay for four hours anyway as that is your minimum. But as you say all moving companies operate a bit differently.

We are terribly sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with our services. We had the opportunity to speak with the crew on your job and we wanted to address your complaints.
To begin, our office staff called you on November 4th, to confirm all the details pertaining to your file. The movers do not normally re-confirm the paperwork once they arrive, as the details were already confirmed. It is protocol for the movers to do a walk-through of your home with you when they arrive and you can provide further details at that point should you wish.
One of the movers on your job did say that he forgot to put on his mask when he showed up at your apartment. However, he went to the truck to retrieve it as soon as he noticed it was missing. We try to take the upmost precautions with regards to Covid-19, but that was a mistake on his end, and he takes full responsibility, and apologizes for that.
The movers were impressed with the size of the elevator at your apartment building and were making a joke at how large it was, and how it would be able to hold a fair amount of furniture – they do not understand that complaint, or why it would upset you.
All moving companies operate a little differently. We do wrap all the furniture with moving blankets while it is on the truck. If it is raining, the movers will wrap the belongings inside prior to moving them outdoors. In your particular move – they were moving your belongings out of an apartment building, that had a covered walk-way from the building to the truck. The movers assure us that none of your belongings were exposed to the rain or got wet.
The movers completed your 2 bedroom move well within our 4 hour minimum charge. We feel they were both effective and efficient while treating your belongings with the upmost care and respect.
With regards to the damage claims. If there is ever a damage done to your furniture while in transit we recommend contacting our office as soon as possible and we would be happy to help rectify the situation. We typically do not remove legs from sofas (or any article of furniture) unless it is required. If you would like us to send someone over and address the gouge in the desk we would be happy to do so. Please let us know as soon as possible.
