Detailed Drywall

Detailed was hired by restoration company to do drywall in my condo after a fire. They were overpriced (I was forced to use them) and their work was terrible. They subcontract out and they don't care about quality of the work. My painter told us it was the worst drywall job he has ever seen and he has been in business a long time. I would not recommend these guys at all!!

I had water damage in my basement due to sump pump failure and I contacted almost 10 contractors before I stumbled upon Detailed Drywall on the Homestars website.They came in to see the scope of work immediately ,well prepared I might add,to take measurements etc unlike some contractors who had come in prior.Detailed Drywall were professional,getting back immediately with a reasonable quote and I found them to be very approachable when I wanted any questions answered regarding the various aspects of the job.No job is too small for Detailed Drywall,again unlike other contractors who did not get back to me as they found the job too small to be of any financial benefit to them.The actual work too was done in a timely manner and the basement looks good once again.Thank you Detailed Drywall !

We had a great experience with Detailed Drywall for replacement of our dining room ceiling (had been removed to replumb to replace leaking grey pol-b piping).

This was a smaller job, and we had a lot of difficulty getting interest and quotes from various other firms, calls not returned, job planned and then cancelled, etc. Very frustrating.

Once we talked with Detailed Drywall, it was a whole different story. Tony came out for the quote, very knowledgeable, patient and with good advice on our options. Price was fair, and better than a very over-priced quote provided by another firm. Job was very well-organized, communication and updates excellent throughout, and the quality of work (thanks Roger) was excellent. I am a detail oriented guy with high standards and expectations. Detailed delivered on all counts, and we will use them for the next phases of work ahead. Highly recommended!

We needed drywall installed in our basement and contacted Detailed Drywall. Tony came to give us an estimate; he was punctual, very professional and extremely knowledgeable.

The file was then handed to Jesse who came by to look over the proposed project. Jesse was also very knowledgeable and provided fantastic customer service. Drywall was supplied and the installation crew did a super job. Clean-up was great. We were very happy with the job.

No deposit was required. We received Detailed Drywall's invoice in the mail several days after the job was completed.

Excellent service was provided to us by Detailed Drywall! We would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

We needed to get our attic up to par. Tony,Nicky and the rest of the team did an outstanding job. Everything from the customer service to getting the appraisal to having the job complete, was done very professional and in the time frame we agreed on. We needed extensive drywall repair due to vandalism. Our guy came in and did a remarkable job in a clean and efficient manor. The damaged areas can't be found to show any where throughout the house. Great job.

The office and the crews were excellent to deal with and very efficient on the project. Cleanup was great from the crew. The house is so much more comfortable now. Exceelnt service.

We hired Detailed Drywall to drywall our basement development in 2010. Timing was very important to us as we needed the basement completed for Christmas. We communicated our timing to the salesman and he indicated that they could meet our time lines. They were late getting started and eventually sent an individual who had not drywalled in years!! He was well intentioned but had no idea what he was doing so he worked very slowly. He also worked very short days. My husband ended up doing over 50% of the drywall and still the drywalling was more than 7 days late. Even though my husband provided over 50% of the labour they still charged us full price. I would never recommend this company.

I hired Detailed Drywall in the summer of 2007 to drywall my walkout basement. Their scope included drywall supply, install, mud, tape, sand and spray texture of the ceiling. This was for all walls and ceilings in a large rec room, bathroom, office, three closets and a stairwell.

This was an extremely busy time for residential construction in Calgary so I was nervous as to the quality of workmanship available to complete this work. I did not have any personal references for Detailed and only discovered them by looking in the Yellow Pages and checking their reputation on the BBB website (where they had no complaints). Lorne Boychuk was the first person I spoke to at Detailed and he provided me with references of satisfied customers to whom I could speak with.

Lorne came out personally to price out the job and went about each room carefully planning out the sheet sizes he would need to use for each room. I found him professional to deal with, he answered all of my questions, and when the quote came, I was comfortable that it was well thought out and was also fairly priced. Also, Detailed did not require any deposits and only required that I sign off approval on their contract to get the job started and order the drywall for delivery. I was only required to make one payment for 90% of the work once the entire job was fully complete and an invoice was mailed to us. The remaining 10% was invoiced once the 45 holdback period (per the Alberta Builders Liens Act) had cleared after job completion.

I found the quality of the completed job to be very good and others have commented the same upon viewing the finished work. I had also requested rounded corners for all corner bead and also had a tricky curved wall that needed to be installed overtop of the basement stairs. Again, I was impressed with the work done and glad that I did not even try to attempt to do this work myself.

The only subcontracting that Detailed completed was arranging for a nother company to come in and spray texture the ceiling.

As far as any areas for improvement, there were some days that the work crews were late in arriving but it was explained that they had other jobs in the area at other stages of completion that they were in the middle of completing, so perhaps project coordination could be improved.

Based on my positive experience, I recommended Detailed to a friend of mine and they also completed his basement project in the fall of 2008.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Detailed to others.
