Back in 2011 I went to Goemans Appliances and purchased over $10,000 worth of Appliances. Kitchen, stove, dishwasher, over the range microwave, washer and dryer. During my purchase I was offered extended warranty which I declined because I didn’t see the need to spend almost $1000 in a warranty, I could use that money on repairs if ever needed. The salesman said that I should get it and that if I didn’t use the warranty, I would get my money back. He didn’t really say if it was cash or credit but either way I thought it was a good deal so I went for it.
It’s now 2017 and I moved and went to Goeman’s to look at buying appliances for my new home, during my conversations the salesman asked me about extended warranty which got me thinking about the 2011 purchase, I asked him about the past purchase and getting the credit and they told me to call customer service. I called customer service and spoke with Alanna, I explained the situation and she looked up my account and apparently you can only use the credit within 6 months of expiry. This information is not on my receipt, nor explained to me and I received nothing in the mail to even let me know that my warranty is expiring and I can use the credit. Who is going to remember about calling in 5 years later for credit on a warranty? This is ridiculous and I’m not going to give them my money for more appliances.
