Fiberglass Front Door & Garage Doors
I built a custom bungalow 2 years ago and went to Uni-tech in Vaughan to look at front doors. They were very helpful , friendly and knowledge about fiberglass front doors.. I ended up giving Richard the business not only for the front door but also 4 overhead garage doors with belt driven motors and to install everything.. I felt so good about the purchase and dealing with them that I paid in full!! 3-4 Weeks later I got them to give me a template of the front door so my stone mason could know the radius of the door and complete his work.
Delivery time was 6-8 weeks and they met that. So the front door arrives and the colour was wrong, it had lights in the frame which we didn't want and the type of glass on either side was not what we chose. They tried to convince me that the door was the colour I chose but admitted after when I had images to prove otherwise. They said they would take back the door and fix it or replace it but that would be another 6 -8 more weeks. I knew that they could have easily fixed this door within a week but they said they were too busy to do it sooner.
I couldn't wait any longer and trying to avoid arguments I decided the hell with it just install the door. So the installer removes the template and puts in the door. The radius of the door is way off and has about 2" - 3" gap on the top centre of the door. I asked the installer why the door doesn't match the template.. His words exactly. " the template is not exact it's just a rough estimate"
Well I almost lost it but held my cool and said "my mason and caulker can fix it."I was really upset about the front door but in the grand scheme of things i was at the finishing stages of the build and that was the least of my worries. Overhead Garage doors came a few days later, 2 installers showed up that seemed like it was their 2nd time installing. 4 Doors were slapped up, the doors and frames were crooked, doors didn't seal properly when closed and were extremely noisy. I called and complained and they sent someone else back to fix them. Well he tried to fix them the best he could without ripping everything out but it didn't help.. I called back and told Claudio to come out and have a look for himself at the install. He said he would that night but never did. i tried calling him for about 3 weeks and got tired of leaving messages and being avoided.
I ended up paying another garage door company $800 to redo the install. They needed to use better rails and rollers because the ones used were very cheap. Now my doors are whisper quiet..
I remember Richard selling me on how good his rollers where. The ones he showed me in the showroom were nylon rollers, he gave me cheap plastic ones..when I questioned this he said that there was an up charge for this and it wasn't on my bill.
Even though at the start their price came in a little cheaper then competitors it was not worth the frustration, lack of customer service, deceitfulness and a poor quality job all around..
I would never refer this company to anyone I know.
If you still want to use this company make sure every last detail is noted on the bill and only give a small deposit.
