Submatic Irrigation Systems

I inherited this company as they took care of this house before I bought it. At first they seemed good enough. reasonable enough price to start and shut off system. however, they didn't find a basic fundamental issue and caused me alot of extra time and cost unnecessarily and this has since left me with a bad taste and distrust for them. Also they are slow responding to requests. The staff seem nice enough but seem to be hanging around waiting for a tip. I tip often to many service, depending on the level of effort and work and when I don't feel pressured or obligated.

Submatic installed our irrigation system over twenty years ago and has been maintaining it ever since. I have found them responsive, reasonally priced and they do good work. When system alterations have been needed, they proposed effective and practical solutions.

I moved into a house that had irrigation system installed by Submatic. They had been doing fall and spring service for me at $100 each time. The technician that came into do the blow-out gave vague instructions to my spouse that resulted in her shutting off the main valve instead of the sprinkler valve. When the technician left my spouse reopened the valve. When I came home I saw the flooded front yard from the tap that was left open by the technician and understood what had happened. I called Submatic and they said they will rectify the problem at no charge by reperforming the blow-out. However, weeks lager I got another bill for $100. I called reminded them about the discussion we had – they had no recollection of this. They took absolutely no responsibility for the lazy technician that did not want to take off his boots to come and do the job right. Also did not go by their word. This was a blessing in disguise; I looked up another company that was rated highly on Homestars. It cost $60 and the guy was a pleasure to deal with -- takes pride in this work and stands by it. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Submatic to anyone.

When we purchased our home 5 years ago it already had an irrigation system installed by Submatic. The former owner was happy with their services and we continued using them as recommended. Within the last 3 years we landscaped both the front and back of our property to the extent where the irrigation system had to be completely reinstalled and expanded to use up to 9 zones. Submatic did an excellent job ensuring all the gardens and lawns were covered which was not an easy task considering the shapes and sizes of each. They have always come when needed on short notice to adjust or fix a small problem. In addition they are always mindful about calling and coming out for annual startups and blowouts. Very good company to deal with!
