Pilkey Glass & Mirror

Absolutely horrible customer service! I am not one to write a negative review, however my experience with Pilkey Glass was so awful that I feel others should be warned. We took a piece of beveled glass from my grandmother's china hutch cabinet door from Italy as a template to cut a similar size. The piece of glass was not only expensive but also something that was very important to my family. Pilkeys apparently lost or threw out the piece of glass and could not re-create it. When I politely asked for some type of compensation, the employee told me he "did not have patience for this"! I was absolutely shocked to hear that HE did not have patience to help me after they had discarded a very expensive and important item of ours! If anything I should not have patience for them losing our glass door! The employee was awful, rude and did not even offer any apologies. As someone that works in customer service I was completely mortified at their response and lack of sympathy. I will never be returning here ever again and I advise everyone to beware of this terrible company!

Very Bad Customer Service
I placed an order for a sliding window on 26 Feb, the owner John told me the order will be ready to be picked up in 10 days. I added an order on 28 two days later and called to follow up on 1st March and confirmed with the receptionist that the 2 orders have been placed since I have an inspection on the 10th. When I picked up the order on the 7th, I found that there’s only one, I asked the receptionist how could it possibly happen. Suddenly, John jumped up to me and raised his voice and said “when the order is not here, it’s not here, what do you want? I cannot make it here magically!” I think he should say “sorry” instead. Finally, I got the add-on order on the 13th and I missed the inspection.

Been dealing with John and his employees for 20 plus years.
They are always polite and prices are reasonable.
They are busy so no time for kissy, kissy but rude n e v e r !

The seal in the top pane of glass in our living room window was damaged and the glass was fogged up and looked terrible. We thought we would have to replace the whole window. I called Pilkey Glass here in Markham and the owner John said they could replace the damaged pane of glass and gave me a quote for the dimensions I provided but scheduled Pete to come out and measure. With measurements verified, John confirmed the amount over the phone and order was placed and I was told we would hear back when ready to install 5 - 10 days. Happy to report week later Pete installed the window and we are very happy with the results. He even did a final cleaning of the glass inside and out.

Very disappointed w the customer service of Pilkey Glass. First attempt to install mirror and they had not measured stairwell so couldn't get it in. While trying they gouged and scraped the walls. Not a problem as I pulled out the filler and paint and they repaired it on the spot. Pilkey came back a week later to try with mirror again (they had cut it smaller) I wasn't in but my daughter and friend were in the house. They again gouged the walls but left this time didn't bother to ask for paint and filler (or at least fill with their own putty if this is an issue they seem to wncounter). Was surprised that they made no comment or apology for demoing my newly renovated wall. Phoned Pilkey to complain and was told 'they would tell the boss'. I took pics of damage and sent email stating I'd like to hear from them. No response. I guess since they are paid in full before they work they figure they don't need to make the courtesy of an apology. Wouldn't recommend this company.

I quite enjoyed dealing with Pilkey, even though we had some miscommunication at the beginning (about coming out to give me a quote), and they had to come out 3 times to get the installation done. I was doubtful the shower wouldn't leak given my experience with similar glass-panel showers in hotels, but here we are 3 months later and all is well (no leakage)...so all is good. Good work (finally) and good people to deal with.

I accidently put a hole in the original thermal units to our house that were installed in 1982.
After trying the usual big box stores and finding that they either didn't even know what I was talking about or suggested I buy a whole new door unit I went to Pilkey Glass company. I was greeted by Lauren who knew what we wanted and showed us samples to choose from, her advice was greatly appreciated.
The two installers came out and took out the old panels and put the new units in with care. The workers were very professional and cleaned the area as they went along, even tidying the pavement outside .
The units are amazing and change the exterior and interior look of the house....bonus all around.

Pilkeys just installed our shower glass, looks beautiful, we have always used them for all our other glass needs as they are so easy to work with, well priced and always on time. Thanks Lauren for your help and advice on this project, including the mirror. They are the place to go for glass in Markham.

I had 3 cracked windows that needed repair. I had a very difficult time finding a company willing to do the job. It seems most window / glass companies just want to replace your entire window instead of replacing the glass only. I found Pilkey Glass & Mirror on Homestars and contacted them. They gave me a reasonable quote on the phone and then came to measure my windows. Right from the beginning the installer who came seemed experienced and confident about the work I needed done. He estimated 2-3 weeks before they would come back to install the glass but I ended up waiting for over 4 weeks. Otherwise, the installation was done smoothly, they even spent extra time to tune up the stubborn hardware of my windows. Saved quite a bit of $$ from not having to replace the whole window.

We had two thermal pane windows in need of repair. The company that made them is long ago out of business.

Another local glass company came out to measure the job, but never got back to us with a quote. So we contacted Pilkey.

From start to finish Pilkey's staff were prompt, friendly and professional.

Even though the windows are of an unusual type, they were able to replace the internal glass units, remove and replace the decorative molding, leaving the windows looking perfect. Brilliant.

I highly recommend Pilkey for this type of work.
