Peatson's Heating & Air Conditioning Ltd

I had Peatson's out on June 17, 2014 to repair our 7 year old air conditioning unit. The total cost at that time was almost $700 to replace the fan motor.
Yesterday, the unit was giving the same problem it had been in the past before the repair was done. I called Peatson's again to explain the issue and to advise that they had completed work on our unit two months ago and that I was again experiencing the same problem. I was told that a technician would be sent out.
A technician came out the following morning, listened to my explanation and said he would have a look at the unit. I went inside and about 30 minutes later, he came in to tell me what he had repaired and to show me the part he had replaced. He then said he was going to prepare the paperwork. About 5 minutes later, he returned with a bill for $206.79!
I was completely dumbfounded as, one, I thought the work would have been covered under their 90 day warranty and, two, I had given NO authorization to the technician for any new work to be performed. He just went ahead and did the repair without my permission.
I called Peatson's and spoke with Wayne, who I believe is the owner, and as another reviewer stated, he was extremely rude and insulting and was completely unwilling to discuss the matter with me professionally and seemed completely unconcerned that an employee oh his performed work for which no authorization had been given by the homeowner. He told me that if payment wasn't made he would have the technician rip out the part.
I spoke to the technician and he admitted that the work should not have been done without my authorization and that aclear explanation should have been given of the costs involved upon his arrival.
I didn't want him touching anything further on the unit so I just paid the bill.
Peatson's may know about fixing air conditioning units (and that may be debatable) but they know absolutely nothing about customer service. They handled this situation unprofessionally from the beginning and, perhaps, illegally as well, and then refused to accept any responsibility whatsoever.
I'm now dealing with the Consumer Protection Act Agency to see what can be done.
There are many other heating and air conditioning companies out there, DO NOT USE THIS ONE!

Tech came we had concerns with our A/C function and requested Thermostat replaced. Tech took 15 to replace thermostat never checked A/C to address original concerns Company owner called he was insulting and asked for more money if tech was to return. We will never use this company again.

The technician came on time and gave a firm quote on what turned out to be a time consuming repair. They stuck to the price even though it took longer than expected and the part needed might have cost more than expected.

Our air conditioner quit working in August and left us sweltering! We called a number of places, and made the decision to go with Peatson's - and it was one we didn't regret! The person we spoke to on the phone was courteous and helpful, and was able to get someone out the next morning. They made immediate plans to replace the unit at a very, very reasonable price. The two workers installed the new unit in the pouring rain, and stayed until we learned to use the new thermostat. The service far exceeded our expectations! While we hope we won't ever need to have them back, we'd return in a heartbeat.

I had a furnace and A/C installed in November of last year. The technicians installed the A/c but never tested it to see if it worked. When I turned on the A/C last Sunday, it did not work. It took 2 days for the Ac to be fixed so I couldnt seep for 2 nights and missed work. I left several messages for Wayne but he never returned my calls. I guess once you get the business there's no longer a need to call back the client.

We are doing upgrades to our home, taking advantage of the ecoEnergy grants. We called several companies, and got three different quotes. Peatson's was slightly lower than the others, and Wayne's approach made me very comfortable dealing with them. He didn't try to up-sell us on air purifiers, HRVs, and other goodies. Right off the bat, he said we don't need a heat recovery ventillator... period. Then, he laid out exactly what we would expect by replacing our hot water heater with a tankless - that it would not actually save us any money (simply because there are only two people in the house, and our water demand is relatively low), and talked us out of that upgrade. His words: "Don't misunderstand me - I'd love to sell you a tankless hot water heater, but you should understand what to expect from it in terms of cost." That's refreshing! Other companies either didn't give us confidence in their knowledge, or wanted to sell us everything (even though we found out from Peatson's that it would have been a waste of money). In the end, we just replaced the furnace. Within about a week of quoting the job, two guys showed up and did the install in less than a day. I love the end result. I'd deal with Wayne again without hesitation.

The whole experiance was smooth sailing from the initial call to the install to the follow up call. The information provided by Wayne to help us make teh decision was both honest and unbias.

From the start Wayne stood out from his competition. I was immediately interested and impressed in his approach to replacing my Furnace and A/C. Other companies that quoted the job were only trying to sell product with no concern for me the homeowner. Wayne had a common sense approach and recommended the "best options" for our requirements. He explained paybacks, rebates, maintenance, warranties etc.. The "York" products were installed yesterday and immediately we felt the difference, i.e., more air movement and the temperature is now maintained throughout the house and we will save on energy costs. The installers were very professional, efficient, helpful and courteous to my wife and I. Job well done.

Explained in detail the choices for a high efficiency furnace and air filter. Communicated well regarding the appointment. Technicians removed and replaced the furnace in a short time. Very pleased with the results.
