Emergency Repair

Recently, we had major water damage to our home caused by faulty plumbing in our 2nd story bathroom tub. Basically, the hot water connection to our tub exploded in the wall and the result of the water damage was major issues to our main floor (kitchen, dining room and living room) and a little damage to our basement -- as the water traveled down the walls.

Upon calling Nu-trend (on a Sunday afternoon), they sent out immediately an emergency plumber and clean up crew. Not only did they do a fantastic job in cleaning up and fixing the plumbing issue; but I continued to use them as the general contractor to fix all the damage to my home. When everything was said and done, we had to replace all the hardwood flooring in our living room/dining room. We had to have the main floor walls repainted. We had to replace cabinets in our kitchen, fix some electrical and a few other things -- all caused by the water damage.

I can't say enough about how pleased we were with the "clean up" crew that Nu-Trend deployed. They were amazing!! I also want to give a big shout out to Manny (General Contractor) and Dave (who worked with our Insurance company) -- they were on the ball, available when we called and generally looked after us.

I recommend highly, if you have an emergency repair -- call Nu-Trend.

Basement Restoration

I don’t typically write reviews but in this case I felt compelled to. I recently had a flood in my basement and contacted my insurance company; they in turn referred me to Nu-Trend Construction and I am so happy they did! I have to say as traumatizing and overwhelming the whole flood situation was (especially with a small child in the house!) Nu-Trend made me feel comfortable and at ease with the situation. From the moment they stepped in my house to the moment they finished the job, nothing but exemplary service, workmanship and respect. If anyone has to unfortunately go through anything like I did, I highly, highly recommend Nu-trend Construction. Excellent job guys and thank you!

Water Damage

We had our toilet overflow in the upper floor en-suite bathroom and it completely flooded our upper and main floors right through to the basement level. We were so grateful and pleased to have such a professional company like Nu-Trend Construction handle this project for us. I have never seen this amount of water inside a home before. Our walls and ceilings were completed saturated with water. I truly did not expect to have this level of service and to have them respond so quickly at that time of the night. The company sent out emergency crews immediately to the house and were on site within 45 mins of us calling with all the necessary equipment on hand. It was rather impressive to see the group of qualified and specialized staff react to the situation. The work started instantaneously to contain and prevent further damage to our house. I was so amazed with the knowledge they presented along with their health and safety protocol to ensure our family’s safety. Staff were very polite, professional and accommodating all while taking the time to answer my questions and explain to us what the next steps were that needed to be taken. Thanks again to all the Management and staff at Nu-Trend Construction for turning a disaster into a very enjoyable experience.

roof damage

We had a roof leak that caused damage to a large part of our home. We had a guy show up from New Trend Construction named Mark who was amazing and helpful. I am certainly no expert in construction but mark was able to walk us through the process and his expertise and knowledge helped us get our roof problem fixed quickly. I would highly recommend New Trend Construction because they made my roof leak nightmare a pleasant experience all things considered.

Burst Pipe - Nu-Trend Construction

After a pipe burst in my basement I contacted my insurance company who in turn sent Mark from NuTrend Construction for a site visit. I have to say from the moment Mark came by to assess the damage to the day the job was completed, it was an absolute pleasure dealing with Nutrend. Their workers were very courteous and did a fantastic job rebuilding my basement in a timely manner and i would highly recommend them on any future jobs!

Fire damage

Worse company I have ever dealt with. My small job dragged on for well over a year due their incompetence, false promises and poor quality of work. They shouldn't even be in business let alone working with insurance companies.
I had to bring in someone else to help me because Nu Trend's work was so sub-standard. Avoid at all costs.

Insurance Claim

We are writing this review in hopes that someone will read this and stop them from using New Trend Contruction so that they don't fall into the same trap we have. In February of 2014 we moved into our current home and experienced ice damning from our roof,we quickly filed a claim with our insurance company and got New Trend to do the work. Problem is it's October 2014 and we are still trying to deal with them. They told us this job would not take longer than 2 months. Unfortunately due to their careless while repairing our hardwood floors, they completely broke our kitchen tiles adjacent which resulted in having to completely remove our kitchen cupboards in order to properly run the new tile underneath. The inconvenience of not having a kitchen for over a month put aside, is the shoty workmanship that followed. We now have a new floor but the tile layer, decided to use a brokentile in hopes we wouldn't notice. Our cupboards being a dark wood have been pretty beaten up with many nicks and scratches some of the really bad ones they tried to fill and colour in with wood pencils. We had to call them back numerous times to get them to adjust cupboards that after they re-installed wouldn't open and close. The Counter top on our kitchen island was broken which they tried to silicone back together in hopes we wouldn't notice and supported the cracked area with two finishing nails while the silicone dried. After bringing the project manager in and having a "meeting" he promised that the counter top issue would be addressed that was in August. Since that day no one has come back after a badgering number of phone calls for our blinds that have been missing from the front of our house since February and our now newly broken counter top, the project manager came in with a counter specialist to assess the damage, they called us during their visit to say they were going to fill the crack, after we instructed them not to as this would give us an undetermined longevity of our counter top they did so anyways and we now come home to a house that absolutely stinks of solvents and epoxy's and only looks worse that when they started. They then proceeded to tell us it was already broken when they removed it! Luckily what New Trend Construction is not aware of is that this restoration journey has been carefully documented with pictures and videos as proof of faults along the way. We've contacted our insurance company but apparently they paid the contractors out before the work even began and believe it or not that is the industry standard. Its sad that companies such as these give bad names to the rest of the industry that does have good quality of work, communication, and punctuality. We are a young couple and expecting our first new addition to our family and instead of this being a happy time for us we have to deal with this. WHAT A DISASTER!!!

Basement back-up

Last summer I had basement backup and insurance company sent Nu-Trend. They cleaned up the drywall and put fans in to dry out the basement. After they took the fans out they never came back to put the basement back together. I had to get someone else in to finish the job. The new contractors who quoted on the job were appalled by the estimate that Nu-Trend provided to the insurance company. They measured the room wrong, missed several items one being the insulation and vapour barrier on the outside wall. It was also very difficult to get another contractor to finish the job because as soon as the realized it was an insurance claim they said you should be dealing with the company that started the job and didn't even want to quote. Because I didn't get the basement work done in a timely manner the insurance company drop me as a client. All because their contractor Nu-Trend had no interest in completing the job they started. I would never ever recommend this company.
