Fred and his crow moved my apartment furniture and everything else with outmost care and efficiency to my new place. Their price was very reasonable and they were very professional. They arrived on time and finished the work very quickly.

Moving from house to condo

After calling several local moving companies, I decided to go with Nortown. From my first call to the office, to the movers showing up on time - a pleasant experience. The movers took their time disassembling furniture, making sure things would not go amiss. They explained what they were doing at all times and reassured me the move would go smoothly - it did! No easy task moving from house to small condo, but all went well and within their estimated time. I would definitely call them again and recommend to others.

$300.00

Moving

We hired Nortown because they promised as a hassle free move. They were anything but. It took 3 men 8 hours to move not even a quarter of hour furniture from our condo. It got so bad We had to call another moving company last minute to get the rest of our things. The workers were so slow and banged up all my furniture. We got to the point where we told them just to unload in our garage and get the heck out we were so fed up. They were very rude and cost us double of what we were told it was going to cost and they still didnt move our things. When I called the manager Chris, to complain the next day, it took him 3 weeks to return my call. He said something would be done and now 2 months later i'm still waiting for a call.
THE MOST HORRIBLE COMPANY EVER DELT WITH. DON'T USE THESE GUYS!!!

Terrible Lies. We gave her an hourly rate over the phone for 3 men. It is impossible to give a firm price without visual inspection of the job involved. She was never given a price. She had a full 3 bedroom apartment and a 10x25 ft. storage unit (which normally accommodates a 3 bedroom home). This would require an additional truck and more men but she refused.

In addition the pick-up time was 12noon and in late November it is dark by 5:30p.m. I am aware that any move is a traumatic experience and a person's belongings are most precious but for her it was more than life itself. As a pregnant woman who was due any day, she was hyper plus and constantly harangued, abused and denigrated our men from the beginning. She also had them remove their shoes each time they brought anything in. Who can work effriciently and quickly under that ongoing attitude, nastiness and constant pressure? the days or slavery are over and our men did their best to remain civil.

Her husband apologized many times to our men for his wife's behaviour. I did call and spoke to Marlene, reasoned with her and offered to compensate her towards her move but she wasn't looking for monetary compensation. This is a bitter, rage-filled individual who does not see another person's point of view. We tried our best to be honest and straightforward in our dealings with her to no avail.

We all hope she is well and really bless her husband for his consideration and thoughtfulness.

Nortown Movers

I had hired Nortown Movers for a second move. The first move went ok and my items went into storage. From storage to my new home, I had arranged for a 3 man crew. 2 of the 3 came to work, the third man wandered around complaining that his shoulder was hurt and basically did not do much except get in the way and cause damage.

The 3rd man had the nerve to ask to be fed.

As the day wore on, my nerves were getting to me as well. I watched through a window as the 3rd man took my BBQ and in anger pushed it off the dolly onto the ground. When I confronted him about the incident he denied it and the other 2 men tried to fix the BBQ side panel which became twisted.

By 7pm that evening there were still pieces of furniture not reassembled that the movers had taken apart.

I finally did here back from the owner in regards to my move. He had promised that he himself was going to be at my move but something came up and he had no choice but to send this other fellow. He even admitted that he had complaints about this fellow before and his other 2 men didn't like to work with him either.

There was damage to a bookcase, (a hand went through the back of it) the BBQ (replaced the side panel top) and a hole in the armrest of a white leather sofa.

When I asked the owner about the damage he asked me if I'm willing to pay a $250 deductible for his insurance. I stated when I arranged the move and asked if he was insured I was told yes and nothing was mentioned about a deductible. He said I should have asked if there was a deductible.

So at the end of this the owner did send me a check in the amount of $150.

My argument was that I paid to have 3 men working and not what occurred, like the 3rd man who would have the nerve to pick up a box that my I had already moved into the house and than ask where do we want it!

If you decide to use this company get everything in writing, the owner's word is not worth anything.

He promised to come by and see the damage, never showed up.

On June 11th, Mr Rozen called and arranged for his move into storage for July 4th with a move-out sometime in Sept. After the July move, he phoned, bitterly complaining that we had stored a box of important documents belonging to his customer. We move what is there and don't know what should stay unless we are told to do so. It is up to him to take every precaution and put things away if not to be moved. Needless to say, this obviously got us off on the wrong foot and he never aknowledged it was his fault. Since our storage area was full. We stored his goods in Bloomington storage and subsequently the next day, met him there and spent half the day moving a quarter of his goods in order to find the box. During that time he kept complaining over and over like a spoiled child. He should have been thankful since we were not getting paid for this time due to his negligence. I finally had enough and offered him the key but he refused to look for another moving company. Instead I promised to do his move out myself. Unfortunately when his Sept. 4th date out of storage arrived, I was not available, having been advised with 3 days notice of a long awaited surgery. I made sure my brother looked after this move and after 5 days of bed rest I called Mr. Rozen the following week. Once more, now he went on and on complaining about the third man on the job, wanting $250 compensation or he would "destroy" our reputation. I knew the man had hurt his shoulder a few days previously but was assured of his ability to work, so felt it would be fair to charge Mr. Rozen for only 2 men and refund him $150. Regarding this barbeque, apparently one screw was not properly tightened and came off. In order to fix it, we would have had to remove a few others to get at it and my brother offered to fix this after the job was completed but was told it was okay. When I spoke to Mr. Rozen there was no mention of the chair. All were wrapped in shrink wrap very well, also nobody noticed any damage to the back of his $30 bookcase. Regarding the insurance, all customers are advised at the time of booking of the $250 deductible, so claims of not being aware are untrue. Note to Mr. Rozen: Since last year, we have expanded our storage facilities and purchased more trucks as business is booming. Regarding insurance the $250 deductible is still our policy. the price he paid included storage and taxes.

Moving from house to house

This is our 2nd time using Nortown in nearly 6 months and we decided to use them again because of our first experience. The 2nd experience was not as good. The promise of using mats and padding on the floors in the new house was never followed. Considering we have wood floors everywhere, we were really concerned about scratches. Also, this moving team was not as good as the first ones and as they were moving our furniture into the new house, I saw them hold shelving units/drawers upside down over their heads to move items over railings. When I finally started to unpack, I had a mess to deal with since all the items were thrown about inside. Overall, there was a decent amount of positives and same number of negatives. They were very prompt, quick, and priced very reasonably but they were not keeping their promises, had a lack of attention to detail, and it felt a bit careless.

Moving

With the recommendations from this website, we used Norstars movers and we were impressed with their efficiency, speed, and overall care for our items. We moved from a Mississauga condo to Brampton and there wasn't a single issue. The 2 movers were professional and informed us of all their decisions as they went along. The only little mention I would have is the lack of the plastic walking liners they could of used to prevent their shoes from going onto the floors. Their shoes didn't leave a single mark but it would have been a nice to have. Overall, they were a great value considering other movers were attempting to charge nearly 20% more for the same service and we would recommend them to our friends.

Flawless Move !

Chis is the guy you want on your next move ! They were on time, efficient and very easy to deal with. The guys went out of their way to get some items to fit into the new house. To top it off they were $650 cheaper than the last moving company we used that also quoted on the job !

We are so glad we went with Nortown and find Homestars a powerful tool to find qualified trades.

Moving

Nortown estimated our move at a reasonable price, but when move actually occurred certain items were broken and the quote came in over 50% higher. I would NOT recommend.

Kindly be advised that it is difficult to guarantee a move time when the items have not been properly packed for moving. I'm very sorry if we failed to explain this element of the move. We wish you and your family Christian the best.

Moving

We had Norwood move our apartment to a house- the guys were on time and very efficient moving our stuff. I was never concerned about damage or breakage. Despite 2 hours travel time to downtown from Maple, cost was similar to other movers.
