Install backwater valve and replace old clay pipe with PVC
The Service Technician from Mr Rooter was very professional. He provided a very reasonable estimate at the end of his first visit and the installation began three days later. Their two-man crew worked very hard to install the backwater valve and left no trace by cleaning up thoroughly afterwards.
During the installation, they showed me how our underground clay pipe to the street had deteriorated over the past 70 years. They recommended we also replace it now while the hole was dug before they burst, which we did. They used a "pipe burst machine", which pulls the new PVC pipe through and breaks the old clay pipe out of the way. They were able to connect new PVC pipe five feet under our cement driveway without disturbing it.
