Interlocking

We signed up with Loc-Tite mid spring and had to wait all summer before the work was done. During that period, we were quite anxious and at times frustrated by the wait. Gregg and his crew finally showed up on Sept 22nd and within 3.5 days, they did a complete make over of our landscape. We could not be any happier with the work done. It was well worth the wait and the price.

There were a few reasons why we signed up with Loc-Tite. Scott was our salesrep and he was very easy going and very willing to budge on the price. Then knowing that they own all their equipment is reassuring. They've also done lots of work in our neighbourhood all have been impressive.

When we saw Gregg working, we knew he was a perfectionist and it seems nothing can get by him. He and his crew are extremely hard working – they show up at 7am and work pass sunset. While the work is in progress, it may seem overwhelming with all the machines and trucks around your home. But after the project is complete, they’ll clean up all the mess and leave you with something to be proud off. All our neighbours and passersby now complimented on our landscape and we're very delighted with the result.

Looking back, I guess we can't expect Gregg to be at 40 different places at the same time, right? So if you have the time and patience, I highly recommend using Loc-Tite. I also recommend signing up before spring (unlike us) so you’re ahead in the queue ;-)

I think my story is not unique. I've spoken to several people in our area whom used Loc-Tite and based on their feedback and the reviews on this site, Loc-Tite is not capable of completing the job in a timely manner. We signed our contract late April, 2010 and still the work is not done. After numerous of calls, the excavation finally took place 3 months after we signed. It's now Sep 12, 2.5 months living on mud and gravel driveway, the actual work has yet to start.

Granted, I will say that their prices are reasonable and Scott is normally willing to budge. We signed up with Loc-Tite not only because of the price, but knowing that they own all their equipment is reassuring and the work they've done in our neighbourhood has been impressive. We also like the personality of both brothers, Scott the Salesrep and Gregg the Owner and the Operator, as they are very easy going. Unfortunately, even with their own equipment and I was told 4 installation crews, they are still deeply behind schedule. Right now for us, the only thing that keep us sane is telling ourselves our landscape will look good once the project is complete. (It's a big project and they are essentially redoing the whole perimeter with interlocking and new sod.)

I hope to change my review rating after the work is done. We sure hope it’s worth the wait and the completed job is impressive enough to restore their image in our neighbourhood.

Update Sept 23: Gregg and his crew started work just yesterday (Sept 22) and within 2 days, I just cannot belief how much they've accomplished. I hope to show some pictures after the work is done, but trust me, it's a BIG job. Seeing how Gregg works, you know he's a perfectionist and it seems nothing can get by him. I will say now, for both my wife and I, we're extremely delighted with the result so far. I will reframe from giving much more praise for now because we did end up waiting for quite some time. The bottom line is if you are willing to wait, you won't be disappointed with the result. (Highly recommend signing up now for next year's project.) Looking back, I guess we can't expect Gregg to be at 40 different places at the same time, right? I will provide final judgement once the work is complete.

We signed our contract late April, 2010 and still the work is not done. After numerous of calls and hollow promises, the excavation finally took place 3 months after we signed. It's now Sep 12, 2.5 months living on mud and gravel driveway, the hollow promises continue. Scott, our salesrep, told us week after week we are next in line. (By the way, getting a hold of anyone at Loc-Tite is practically impossible. Messages are not returned and only by luck if Scott picks up the call, I'll be able to ask for a status update - which turns meaningless anyway.)

Granted, I will say that their prices are reasonable and Scott is normally willing to budge. We signed up for Loc-Tite not only because of the price, but knowing that they own all their equipment is reassuring and the work they've done in our neighbourhood has been impressive. I hope to change my review rating after the work is done. But at this point, it's the most disappointing contractor we've ever hired. We had our basement done and we know waiting is part of the game, but 5.5 months of waiting is simply not acceptable. We have the water irrigation company still waiting for Loc-tite to start work so they can complete their job. They too are irritated by the wait. Even our neighbours and passersby commented on our landscaping and always ask, “When will the work be done?” We sure hope it’s worth the wait and the completed job is impressive enough to restore their image in our neighbourhood.
