Kerr Design Build

I purchased an apartment, and needed a "one-stop shop" where someone could help me through the whole renovation and design process. I renovated the entire apartment (entryway, kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, living room, dining room, and hallways). I researched a few construction & design companies, and ultimately decided to go with Kerr. I am happy I made that decision, and am now a repeat-customer of Kerr Design Build.

Pros:
- responsive to client messages
- professional attitude and communication
- invoices are clear, so you understand exactly what they are charging you for
- respectful of client demands, especially in terms of timing. I purchased my apartment in April of 2021, and needed it to be move-in ready by August of that year (4 months). COVID restrictions were very much still in place and there were disruptions in the distribution chain across almost all industries, yet Kerr was able to meet my timeline.
- honest when mistakes are made or when things were missed (no company is perfect), and made clear efforts to correct them.
- the construction and design teams are both skilled, experienced and well-connected in the industry.

Con:
We went over-budget by around $5,000 dollars. I didn't deduct a star on this review though, because I understand that it's very difficult to provide accurate quotes in the initial phase before any orders are placed. Also, based on my research and experience, I believe it's the norm here in Metro Vancouver that these projects always go a bit over-budget, no matter which construction & design company you hire. If you are extremely tight on budget and have absolutely no wiggle room in this regard, then I would suggest looking for an IKEA room planner or something similar to that.

We did a major renovation with Kerr last year. We chose them after parting ways with our first contractor.. The reason was for communication. My wife and I were very busy with work, and needed a contractor that understood that, and was able to reposnd to our concerns and needs in a timely manner. Kerr promised to do this, and kept that promise. Communication with them was stellar. We used their design team to help plan out our renos, and Nisha and her team were fantastic. we went through many iterations and ideas before landing on our dream design. And Nisha was amazing at intaking our design preferences and coming up with great options for all the major and minor desicions that we had to make.. and there are LOTS of decisions you ned to make.. She made it so easy for us. no clue how we could have done it without her.. Once we got to construction, we were very lucky to have Zack as our onsite contact. We coulndt have been luckier to have been gifted Zack for our project. He was honest, straight forward, super knowledgeable, and extremely personable.. An amazing member of the Kerr team (he was promoted to a higher position halfway through our project.. so Kerr knew his value.. but he stayed on our project luckily).. The project was a success, and we love our basically brand new home (built in 1906, and.. now 2022). Kerr has been very responsive for any adjustments/changes since project completion, and i would not hesitate at all to recommend them for your large reno projects.

After a 16 month delay to the building permit after heritage and planning approval the renovation of the original 1908 timber frame building proceeded from the ground up with all new foundations & substructure with all new mechanical and electrical services to provide for a 3 unit strata multiple unit conversion (MDC), retaining heritage frontage and stained glass windows. All work was done to the highest standards of workmanship by Kerr's tradesmen and select best quality subcontractors.
The results have garnered high praise from realtors, friends and family.

I had my main bathroom renovated by Kerr Construction and designed by Kerr Design. I had originally thought I wanted an all white bathroom, but ended up going with a much bolder design presented by Kerr. Our project manager, Brian , was excellent and was there when things did not go smoothly with the glass shower door. Kerr ensured that a proper glass door was eventually received and installed to their standards and fixed a condensation problem that was not originally identified. Though the project ended up taking longer then anticipated due to these issues, the renovation was still within budget and Kerr ensured that the quality of the renovation did not suffer. It is often when things go wrong that having a reputable contractor makes all the difference. I love my new bathroom and make sure to show everyone the drastic transformation.

We hired Kerr Construction/Design & Build to renovate the kitchen our townhome. We are very happy with our choice and outcome of the renovation. From our first meeting, it was clear we made the right choice. Their process from start to finish is very clear and transparent. The designer came up with an amazing design and layout, vastly improving the flow and function of our small space, including tripling (or more) the storage. From start to finish, each phase was very professional. Our project manager, and site manager stayed on top of everything. We always knew where we were in the process, and what would be
happening on site each day. Our custom built island and cabinets came
out beautifully as well. It's a pleasure to use our new extremely functional and beautiful kitchen. Thanks to the Kerr team for all their
hard work and high standards.

Their slogan talks about trust, and that was just what we needed to hear. We looked for a company to do a renovation after failing to come to terms with another group. From the first meeting, we felt like the people at Kerr were very attentive to customer service. They listened and really cared about us and the project. Every time during the renovation process, they answered questions and ensured we were happy. We had started the design process with the other company, but the designers at Kerr went over our decisions and helped us make changes where the ideas didnt match our vision. The project manager was very knowledgeable and could be relied upon to make sure that the work was done to their exacting standards. The warranty is better than anything weve seen. We are extremely pleased with the finished product, and we highly recommend Kerr.

The team at Kerr Construction helped us with our apartment renovations. They had great service and were able to finsih the project on time. They were with us every step of the way and made sure our vision was realized.

My townhome was completely redesigned and renovated by Kerr Construction and I could not be happier. Even with the supply chain issues, covid and Christmas break, the project was only 2 months behind. Staff was a pleasure to work with and Kerr created very detailed drawings of my renovations so I would know exactly what the finished product would look like. I was basically hands off once I agreed to the final details and did not walk back into my place until the renovations were complete. It turned out beautifully! Like all renovations there were little things that needed to be finished or fixed, but Kerr was always quick to coordinate the relevant trades to resolve any issues. I would highly recommend Kerr for any of your renovations projects as you will be in very good hands.

My 1995 home was looking shabby and needed plumbing updates throughout. The team at Kerr designed a new kitchen for me and helped me stay in budget at every point. It was a lot of work and the supply chain issues delayed completion, but Kerr made it easy to have them around and were no trouble to me at all. I totally recommend the team at Kerr!
