Initial Repairs

We bought our first house knowing it would need some work to be prepared for the upcoming winter.
We hired J. Roberts and Associates for the job after getting warm recommendations from another satisfied client.

The goal was to make the house safe and liveable:
- Grading work was done at the exterior of the house to keep water away and prevent leakages.
- Garage flat roof was replaced.
- Electrical problems, which were the result of prior neglecting, were resolved.
- Exhaust vents in bathrooms were installed to deal with humidity issues.
- Roofing jobs were done to prevent further water damages.

The service was beyond any expectation:
- Jeff came over every day at 8am sharp.
- He never tried to take advantage of our situation, and was honest enough both to differentiate between what needed to be fixed right away, what could be delayed for future projects and what we shouldn't be concerned about at all. He always chose the optimal solutions, not necessarily the most expensive ones.
- He stood in charge of his people, check their work often and made sure it was done on the best side.
- Jeff is very perfectionist, "patching" does not exist in his lexicon, and any job of his is perfectly accomplished.
- We never felt the need to check on the workers, could rely on Jeff and his staff with our eyes shut. They were very reliable and always took care to leave the house closed, clean, organized and locked at the end of each day.
- Everyone was friendly and warm, very nice people to come by. They were also always willing to give a hand in smaller repairs that we didn't know how to handle.
- Jeff gave us his professional opinion for future jobs we wanted to put into the house, together with recommendations and advices regarding the house work handling.

Without any doubt, J. Roberts and Associates is highly recommended!

Jeff and his team are outstanding! Our basement flooded this winter and needed a COMPLETE gut and with Jeff's help and suggestions we renovated and reconfigured the basement and are overjoyed with his expertise. Attention to detail, mindful of budgets, delightful and honest team. Came in on budget, came in on time and with exceptional quality beyond our expectations. Mindful of our neighbours and very, very clean work environment after each day. Would never hesitate to recommend Jeff Roberts and his company. Beyond a 10 rating!

Kitchen Renovation with Structural Work

Jeff (the "J" in J. Roberts) did my kitchen renovations including removing a structural wall. Jeff looked at our designs which we had in place before he became involved in the project. He immediately suggested that we do away with the pillar that was suggested to dawn the middle of our living room as it was, agreeably, not optimal. Because of Jeff's building experience he quickly nixed the pillar idea and, instead, put support beams in the ceiling so that we would have a wide open space. I have to admit that I was a little nervous about hiring a contractor I didn't know and that I found on the Internet but Jeff put me to ease quickly when we met. During our renovation he was always asking if we were happy with what he had done and he also asked many questions along the way often arriving early in the morning to have a quick chat before my husband and I left for work, to describe what was the task(s) of the day and to re-confirm our choices as well as to discuss any issues that had to be decided for the work to move forward. The real test of the integrity of Jeff's work resonated with me when it was discovered that we had a small problem a few months after the work was completed. One of our pipes wasn't tightened enough and it was dripping a little in our cabinet. When I called Jeff to tell him he was out the next day to fix it. I liked the fact that he doesn't have a tailgate policy (ie: see the back of my tailgate and the warranty is over!). I would not hesitate to recommend Jeff to anyone. He is professional and he cares that his clients like his work....and I love my new kitchen!!!!

Kitchen Reno in Old Victorian

Jeff did a full gut reno on our kitchen, which being 130 yrs old was no small task. Jeff and his team (Kris) were prompt and followed a strict schedule. Our kitchen was gutted and completed in the exact time frame Jeff proposed. Issues such as water damage, insulation and poor wiring were addressed with efficiency. The cost came in at the initial quote, so we weren't hit with any big bill surprises at the end.
Thanks to the professionalism of all involved, the whole experience was quite painless considering the scope of the work performed. Jeff was easy to contact on off hours. At the end of each day, the team left the job site immaculate, with no debris or tools laying around.
We look forward to enjoying our new kitchen!

KItchen Reno

We were so thrilled with the work J. Roberts did for us! This was a huge reno for my husband and I - and Jeffery made is painless!!!!! He had an answer and solution for all our questions and space issues. His team was very respectful and did everything possible to keep the noise/dirt/dust level down. The end result was nothing short of stunning - and has added so much value to our home. Jefferey and his team were a pleasure to have in our home - that aspect made a large and stressful reno like this much easier!!! I would HIGHLY recommend J. Roberts and Associates!

Ground floor renovation

Another renovation, another success!
After a couple of years of planning, we decided to fully renovate the ground floor of our 30 year old home. While no structural work was involved in this 4 month project, pretty much everything else was. Jeff's team took care of moving interior walls, electrical, plumbing, insulation, ventilation, flooring and tiling. Jeff was always available, and always made sure I was involved and knew what the next steps were. His team (Chris) and sub-contractors (Mark) are reliable, knowledgable and very professional. While the kitchen was designed by another firm, Jeff's team worked hand in hand with designers and installers to ensure that there were no last minute issues and that all the plan came together.
This was our second major renovation with Jeff and we had 100% confidence going into the project that we were in good hands and they did not let us down.

Renovate and repair to main entryway.

We had developed a water issue in our front entry hall. Jeff provided a quick repsonse with professional advice. He got to the project very quickly and provided excellent suggestions when issues arose. The project while not large was tricky given the age of the house. Jeff and his team were fast and always left a clean work area, with no mess in or around the house.

Foundation Repair, New Addition, New Stucco, Complete Kitchen

We first met Jeff in the Spring of 2010. My wife and I were just beginning a major whole-house renovation in Caledon when we discovered some serious cracks in the foundation. After a couple of contractors suggested repairs costing over $100K, or simply demolishing the house to start over, I asked Jeff to come by and take a look. He agreed that the problems were serious but not to panic until he had his engineer come by and see if they could come up with a cost-effective solution. We immediately liked his approach and he did deliver a solution that solved the problem and gave us a stable foundation with a completely dry basement. The work was done quickly and his team kept the site clean. I’m pretty comfortable with construction and renovation, and was pretty picky in terms of making sure the work was done correctly, and Jeff’s crew never disappointed me.

Needless to say we asked Jeff to return the following spring and put a new addition onto our house for a combination mud room and laundry. They also replaced all of the old windows and doors across the back of the house. We are renovating a house from the 50’s and the work done by the previous owners ranged from poor to comical to dangerous. As we opened up walls and found problems they were fixed to exceed local building codes. Never once was it suggested that the problem be covered up and they always reviewed the issue and what had to be done to correct it. We now have a very functional rear entrance to our house and an addition that looks like it was always there. The stucco exterior work is first class (thanks Lucas!) and friends and neighbours have commented on how much better our house looks.

Our next project was to complete the exterior and windows across the front as well as renovate half of the inside of our bungalow, including a new kitchen. We have some budget pressure this year and Jeff also was very busy in the city and was not sure how much attention he could give to the entire project out in Caledon. We agreed that I would manage the construction phase – Jeff told me that I would not have a problem serving as my own general contractor – and Jeff’s team would complete the exterior stucco and install the kitchen. The exterior has transformed the look of the house and Lucas did an amazing job blending it into his work from the previous summer. Jeff was very helpful throughout the construction and gave me plenty of advice when I faced various challenges along the way.

But Jeff was always bragging about the kitchens he has installed and that he was most proud of this work. He did not disappoint. My wife made the majority of decisions on the cabinets, counter-top and fixtures and Jeff gave us his experience on what would work and how to avoid problems. His estimate for delivery was only off by a few days and the final bill did not exceed his quote. The kitchen transformation was amazing and the cabinets that Jeff helped us select are high-end with features that we did not think we could afford. The quality is first rate as was the attention to detail and craftsmanship by his people. My wife has the kitchen of her dreams.

I highly recommend J. Roberts & Associates to anyone looking for a general contractor for small or major home renovations.
