Hickory Dickory Decks

We just recently had a second story deck completed by Hickory Dickory Deck. They did a fabulous job. The finishing on the deck is very professional and well done. The composite boards look great and I'm really looking forward to the lack of maintenance they require. Hickory Dickory Deck were very accommodating and allowed us to work in our design ideas into our privacy panel and even provided 3D renderings as an idea of what are deck would look like. Thanks for the great work. We are looking forward to the added space this deck offers our house.

Bob Robertson from Hickory Dickory Decks along with his crew - Richard and Evan brought professionalism and a tremendous work ethic to the job site everyday. The job involved a significant tear down of an existing deck. The project included a visit the the company's outdoor showroom which helped solidify decisions regarding both design and the materials used in the build. Bob's collaborative nature made mid-project design modifications easy and resulted ultimately in a better design. Our family now has an outdoor living space that we will enjoy for years to come. I would have no hesitation recommending Bob and his team for any outdoor deck work you may be considering.

We had the pleasure of dealing with Geoff Aucoin for our project. Geoff was punctual and knowledgeable. He explained different options for our deck and took the time to understand what our needs and wants were for our backyard. He designed a practical yet attractive layout and the pricing was up front and fair. Geoff stayed in touch throughout the project and was quick to reply every time we had a question or needed something sorted out. The work began and ended on schedule. Fred and Adam were our carpenters. Their workmanship is truly outstanding. From the sanding to the steps...the finished deck is beautiful. We have had a lot of work done in our backyard this year (complete pool renovation, irrigation and some interlock) and our experience with Hickory Dickory Decks (and Geoff, Fred and Adam) has been, by far, the most enjoyable, reliable "stress less" part of our renovations. We will be recommending them to family, friends and neighbors without hesitation.

We met Clark who is the owner of Hickory Dickory Decks in Markham back in May this year. He is young and passionate. First year in this business. Our project was basically his first ever big one. He is the owner but not the builder. But he guaranteed to us that his builder does beautiful jobs. At the beginning we were not sure if he was the right person. We felt like we were taking a risk. We basically just trust in our feeling about him as he seemed very genuine to us. It turned out that Clark was a super professional person and he worked very hard to make sure we were satisfied. He worked till 2am to revise his design blueprint so he could email it to us on Saturday morning. He texted us almost every single day to update the status. He also tried his best to get us a very deal on better quality lumbers when the ones we ordered was out of stock. Also his builder Rod was a gem in carpentry. He is very detailed oriented, cautious and careful. He did a fantastic job on framing and stairs, which are the most important two things in building decks! Still Clark came to our backyard every single day to check the work and make sure the materials delivered right in time for building. Our deck is huge. It fits a 8-ppl dining set, a swing with screen door plus a conversational patio set! And it was done in three weeks with every single detail being taken care of. At the end Clark came in to clean our deck and did a bunch of things that he didn't have to, such as fixing our hose, cleaning our fence and etc. He is really passionate about what he does. We took a risk to hire him but thanks to Lord it was probably the best choice we've ever made in our home. To anyone who wants to have a deck in your backyard. Please don't go cheap to build a pressure treated one and still spend thousands of dollars! Go with the composite and you'll never regret. Hickory Dickory Deck is definitely the best deck company if you're willing to invest in your backyard.

We had a terrible experience with Hickory Dickory Decks. Contractors would show up one day and then we would not see them for days or a week. Very poor communication. 2 week timeframe turned into a 3 month project. Poor quality workmanship. Would never Recommend them.

I wish I could include a before and after photo in this review, because you would see first hand the amazing transformation that took place in our backyard, thanks to Hickory Dickory Decks. Hopefully the 'after' photos shows you what a great job was done. Not only did the end product exceeded my expectations, the service and professionalism was top notch. I highly recommend Hickory DIckory Decks to anyone looking to put in a deck!

When we decided to replace our old cedar deck with composite, we looked at several options. HDD offered not only the widest choices, but also the best service. From the very first, all our questions were answered, all our options explained and all our concerns addressed. The build itself was seamless. We were so impressed, not only with the diligence of the team, but also with their attention to detail. Every cut and corner was done right and the finished product is beautiful. So excited to have a deck we know we can enjoy for decades to come. I'd highly recommend HDD to anyone considering composite; they're a great choice.

Steve Hall was knowledgeable and completely redesigned our deck. Easy to work with and gave us many options that would work within our budget. Workers were professional, efficient and punctual. Amazing experience and we're thrilled with the final product.

Update: 1 year later there are several stains on the composite which have been difficult to remove. Steve Hall tried to come out and clean them for a price, but the result was less than satisfactory. I felt like he should have warned me that a lower level composite will stain easily and permanently. I would have been happier with a wood deck.
