Drain Works Plumbing

We have used Drain Works for a number of plumbing issues in the past and were very satisfied. When we had a drain blockage we called them first. They were able to identify the problem and scheduled a date for the repair quickly. Our front garden had to be dug up. The problem was confirmed and the repair completed quickly. The drain system was checked with a camera and tested thoroughly to ensure the problem was resolved. The garden was restored to original condition and all debris removed. I called Drainworks to have my backed up drain checked. Lou was dispatched to check with a camera and showed up on time. He was very courteous and gave an estimate. I proceeded with the work and they were fast and clean. Very happy with their service and I would highly recommend them!

Chris is a master plumber and has been working with us for the past decade. He is prompt, honest, excellent at his trade, respectful, polite and puts 110% of himself into his work. Luke and Jim are also fantastic! All of the Drainworks gentlemen are clean and thorough, real pros! They are great with our dogs and our dogs just love them. Call Drainworks because our basement washroom toilet was leaking around the bottom. They came over and took a look at it and replaced the toilet and seal. They also put a camera through the pipes to confirm if there were any other problem. They were very professional and gave me a competitive price and did all the work quickly and neatly. I would recommend they to anyone.

I had some issues with plumbing : outside faucets leaking , & defective shut off valve for my humidifier. While driving home one day from work I saw a Drain Works truck & thought I would give then a call. Called an arranged an appt for evaluation & estimate. We have been helped by DrainWorks, on a few occasions, over the many years we have been in our North Toronto home. So when we had a backup problem with our Basement drain last week, one thing that helped us not panic, was we had no doubt about who to call. Sure enough, Drainworks sent Jim to help us within an hour. In short order, Jim had diagnosed the problem and given us the information we needed to feel comfortable giving the go ahead to replace the main pipe that connected up to our new backwater valve. While we could have just replaced a portion of the pipe to get a better join to the backwater valve, we decided to replace all of the main inside pipe that runs from the City drain to our drain. We also, replaced the drain.

The work was scheduled for the next Monday 8:00 am. Jim had advised that it may not be him overseeing the work but another team member and his crew would take great care of us. On the dot of 8:00 am that Monday, the door bell rang and it was Lou from DrainWorks. Lou and his team including Andrew, Misha and Roman were just fantastic. From the moment they arrived, we knew we were in good hands. We had just had some drywall and lighting upgrades in the Basement and great care was taken to prepare the site for minimum disruption and damage. Lou advised that once the first part of the excavation was done, he would be able to assess the condition of other branch pipes. Once more exploration was possible, Lou’s knowledgeable, thoughtful and patient approach helped us better understand what he was recommending and why. Once we had all the information we needed and gave the go ahead for further work, there was doubt in our mind that we had made the right decision. Everyone worked so hard and stayed later so the job could be done in once day!

We were invited to visit the Basement, a number of times during the day, for updates on progress and to answer any of our questions...WOW! When the crew were finished, Andrew invited us to take a look before they left. We couldn’t believe how they had cleaned up the work area. It was a big and messy job and it was hard to tell they had been there except for the newly cemented areas...WOW again.

I've relied on Drainworks service for all our plumbing needs for over 15 years. I have used them for interior plumbing as well as major drain issues. From the job coordinator, to the plumbers, they are very accomodating, thorough, and above all professional and reliable. Their project reports are very detailed with breakdown of all costs and any future quotes. You get what you paid for.

My recent service with Drainworks came to sour ending and it is no one’s fault but my own. In 2015 I used Drainworks to replace my catch basin in my driveway. After the catch basin was replaced, the technician ran a camera through the storm water pipe to find another problem about 17 feet down the line. Possible issues were verbally discussed but not thoroughly documented by either myself or the technician. This was my first mistake. As the replacement of the catch basin was already a substantial cost, I put off repairing this new problem until last week. Last week, I requested a service estimate to repair this pre-existing problem. Upon arrival the technician ran the camera through the line. The technician confirmed the problem still existed but was no worse or better than previously identified. The only option explained to me was to dig 9 feet down and replace the pipe. I agree to this solution. This was my next mistake. Normally I would delay any decision until I was able to get a second opinion/estimate. As I had previously worked with this company and technician, I trusted his opinion and informed them to proceed with the work. Upon the project being at the no going back stage, and also being informed by the technician the city would need to resolve the problem, another option came up in conversation. This option may have been quicker and much more reasonable in price. We will never know as the technician did not write up a cost on this solution. And of course, as reminded by the Drainworks Office it may not have worked. Again, we will never know. In the meantime, I contacted the city. They arrived the next day, sent a torpedo into the pipe and had the issue resolved in less than a minute. I contacted the Drainworks office to ask why this option had not been presented to me. The gentleman I spoke to had me on the defensive and attacked me throughout the whole conversation stating I was in full control of the situation and I got what I asked for. I have no problem in defending staff, but don’t tell me I have full control of the situation when I am not a drain expect and I do not know all the tools available to me. All options should have been explained to me. Going forward I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone looking for drain resolution to ensure you ask as many questions as needed and document all the answers and to ensure you have at least two estimates before deciding on your action. If the problem has to do with any lines connecting to the city lines, I would also recommend you contact the city first to find out which company the city uses for drain issues. I probably could have saved thousands of dollars if I had contacted the city first but that is only my situation. After having a very heated discussion with the Drainworks office personnel, any positive recommendations for this company took a drastic decline. All I can do at this point is share my experience and recommendations and let people decide for themselves.
