I called Derek for an estimate to prune my cedar hedges, and trim my birch and crabapple trees. His price was very reasonable. The next morning the crew showed up on time and completed the job in an hour! Derek was there to direct his crew and pitch in. I stared through the window, watching in wonder as the team worked its miracle at a furious pace. What was once wildly overgrown is now neat and attractive, and my lawn can get the sunlight it desperately needs. Would I recommend them? You bet I would! This is why I love Homestars- without it, I wouldn't have found this gem of a company.

Needed to have a neighbours tree trimmed back from my home. Bob stopped in when I was at work and left me his assessment. I called him after work and we discussed how I wanted the job done. He came by later on that evening when I was out to complete the job.
The tree was trimmed perfectly and he cleaned up after he left.

We called Derek because our tree was rotting from the inside out. Derek, was recommended from a neighbour. He was quick and professional with his estimate. When the day came for removal, he and his crew were ontime, worked diligently, and quickly cut down the tree and removed the stump AND cleaned up after themselves. It was a very pleasant experience and if I ever needed that kind of service again I would call him in a heartbeat. (and he's cute)

Speedy, courteous service - I called Derek on Thursday, he completed the job by Saturday morning! He brought 5 guys and the job took 30 mins - our silver maple looks like a fresh new tree!

I had a very large maple tree and a lilac tree that needed pruning. The Maple tree belonged to my neighbours; it was growing over my property by approx. 7 feet and needed to be cut. My irrational neighbours started a war with me when i informed them i needed the portion of the tree that was over my yard cut, they asked for me to leave the tree alone, that by pruning only one side it would become unhealthy and lop-sided. I informed them that the company would do a professional job, and that i never expected them to pay for it, i would incur the costs of course. They still insisted on leaving the tree alone, I went ahead and contacted Derek's Tree Service, and explained the situation to Jamie and Derek. Not only did they do an amazing job by cutting the tree as far back as i needed it, but Derek spoke to my neighbours and offered to trim his side of the tree AT NO COST!! Thank you Derek for going ABOVE AND BEYOND!!!!!!

Over the past several years, I have called on Derek to prune several large trees in my yard, including restoring a couple of them to good health, rather than cutting them down. The finished results have always been eye-appealing and Derek is very conscientious about responding to my concerns including the preserveration of a woodpecker nest. There is no damage to my neighbour's properties, and the clean-up is excellent. He has always responded in a very timely way, is very professional, and his tree services will continue to be a part of my property maintenance in the future.

This summer I called 4 of the highest ranked Homestar tree services and Derek's was the only one who responded in 24 hours. One company actually called 2 weeks later and the other two never responded to my call!

Derek's team came out early to our house and within less than an hour they had taken down and cut up our dying tree as well as grinding two leftover tree stumps. The wood logs from the tree were picked up later than afternoon and the only remnants of the tree/stumps were small mounds of wood shavings which we put into bags for collection.

After numerous attempts to have our cedars trimmed (actually someone registered with Homestars) in the last number of months, we were very frustrated and game up to have our cedars trimmed. Finally, I thought to make one more attempt and had read Derek's positive reviews.
I called him and shortly after, he came and gave my neighbours and I a very reasonable estimate to tame our mutual hedge. He gave us a firm date to come. Knowing my experience, I was a little doubtful it would happen, but sure enough the team showed up as scheduled and even early. They did a super job, safely and cleaned up very well. We are now enjoying our correctly shaped hedges. It sure made my day, and so glad to have had such professional treatment from beginning to completion. I would gladly recommend them for any additional work.
