Firstly, Derek is very punctual which is extremely important. He came out to give me a quote in a timely fashion, returned calls promptly and showed up on time to do the job. Secondly, his price was pretty competitive, and especially because people are so happy with his work, you feel like you're getting good value. Thirdly, Derek is straight-forward, honest and very personable which makes dealing with him a pleasure. He gave me some advice about my trees and gave me some important information regarding potential pests - all with no sales pressure. Lastly, Derek and his crew are professional and efficient. His team pruned 4 trees for me (2 of them required climbers), removed all the debris, threw them into the chipper and was out of my hair all within an hour! Incredible! I would recommend Derek to anyone...No wonder he's ranked #1!

Derek is a great guy, on time on both occasions. A true professional. The quote was competitive, the work was quality work. He showed up with about 6 other guys and lots of machinery. They were done in about 45 minutes. My neighbour had two people struggle with removing a tree for a full day. You don't want to have people over at your house for a day with buzzing saws, do you? They cleaned up after themselves and cut and stacked the firewood.

We had several mature trees that had to be trimmed. One is about 75 years old so not an easy job. The crew arrived before their time and didn't waste time with getting set up! We were pleased at how efficient and friendly the "team"was. One of the trees that had to be pruned was actually our neighbours tree that was hanging over our house. They were very concerned with this pruning but Derek spoke with them and totally made them feel at ease with the entire job. They used rope to tie the branches so it wouldn't damage anything below. He took full control of the responsibility to please them as well as us. This is the second time we have used this company and don't hesitate using them in November for another tree. Although he could have cut it today, he was mindful of our beautiful garden so suggested we wait until November when things have finished growing. Appreciated that as well! They tidied up well too!

Derek and his crew arrived right on time Saturday morning. They worked quickly and efficiently removing deadwood and elevating a 45- year-old Catalpa, elevating a Hackberry tree and removing deadwood from a small maple tree. For no extra charge they also thinned my Hackberry. All debris was swept up and bagged. I am very pleased with how my trees look, and I'm sure they will be healthier as well. I would definitely recommend Derek's Tree Service!

Derek is a true professional. He and his team were punctual, extremely efficient and friendly. They worked a delicate job involving multiple hydro wires, over arching branches and narrow spaces with great ease. The cleanup was quickly and perfectly done, neat and left the area looking better than before the work was started.

Derek knows what he is doing. He quoted an excellent price without fuss and with great understanding of what needed to happen and the most efficient way to get it done. Securing of a large limb of one tree, removal of two tall trees (one completely dead) and a signficant pruning of a crabapple took slightly more than a hour with cleanup included. Derek was personally invovled in all aspects of the job, from quotation to clean up and his guidance and recommendations throughout showed his well honed 20 year experience was both trustworthy and insightful.

I can't recommend Derek and his team highly enough. His efforts and skill, along with that of his team, were very much appreciated. He and his team are an exceptional value for quality work involving any large pruning, cutting or tree maintenance needs. I will certainly use him again. He does exceptional and quality work. I found Derek's Tree Service here on Homestars. I could see that he had a lot of reviews and all of them perfect tens. I gave him a call and he came out to do an assessment the next day. I like that. He quoted me a price to take down both trees, grind the stumps and superficial roots and remove all the debris. It was not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be so I signed him up.

It was a very busy time for him and so he said it may take a week or even two before he could fit it in his schedule but he called me the next Tuesday and arranged to bring his team in on that Thursday.

Thursday morning, on time, he arrived with a team of six guys and took care of those two trees in about and hour and a bit. They cleaned up as promised and off they went.

This is the kind of experience you have when you are dealing with a professional that knows how to run a business.

I contacted Derek to look at removing a lot of large cedars and bushes from a backyard retaining wall. In addition, there was a large tree very close to the pool.

The whole process -- from initial phone call to final cleanup -- went very smoothly. Within an hour of my first call at the start of the week, Derek scheduled an appointment for later in the week to drop by my place for an estimate. He was very punctual and polite; the estimate was quite reasonable. After I requested that he proceed with the work, he returned two days later with a crew of five at the appointed time to undertake the project. They performed the pruning and shrub removal in a professional manner, removed the branches and plant from the property, and fed the cut material through an on-site shredder. As Derek had promised, the work was completed in an hour and our yard was debris-free.
