Contex Roofing Company Inc. No Longer In Business

This company came to me highly recommended by several acquaintances. I called them to replace my roof (which was not leaking but very worn). The owner showed up, checked the roof and gave me a quote emphasizing all the guarantees. They came and replaced my roof in the fall and by next spring the roof was leaking. I called and spoke to the owner who came and looked at the roof. He said everything was fine and the real problem was I needed new windows. I called numerous window companies and they all said the windows were fine and that it was the roof that was leaking. I called other roofers and they told me the 3 foot membrane around the perimeter of the roof was missing ie shingles were put right on top of the wood and the shingles used were not brand new they estimated about 3 years old !!!! The other roofers all agreed that the step flashing and counter flashings were all done incorrectly as well! I also paid for 2 home inspectors to come and do an inspection they both agreed it was the roof that was not done properly. I called the owner back and told him what I found out and he completely denied everything saying it was the windows. I had to call new roofers to try and fix the problem without putting on a whole new roof and they could not match the shingles Contex used because they had been discontinued many years ago.

Our back extension required new skylight installation for two velux skylights and a brand new fiberglass roof. Contex was fantastic and there for the emergencies we had endured when the old skylights began leaking in our back family room. and bubbling They were prompt and thoorugh, tarping the problem temporarily until our skylights arrived. The rain and water stayed outside thankfully and Phil at Contex checked in with me to make sure. The workers were loyal and helpful very pleasant. They were pleasure to work with, considering they were dealing with a 43 degree hmidex the day they came here! Not a complaint and stayed pleasant no matter how hot and humid it was! The trim inside was completed to our satisfaction by Miguel, and the skylights were installed beautifully and look so much nicer than the old ones. I would highly recommend Contex to anyone looking for an honest, reliable company. I would absolutely use them again for any job. Phil was there to answer all my questions and answered all e mails. His estimate of the work was thorough and done exactly as he said.. Arnold,was terrific to work with and has a wonderful way of dealing with people and the office staff I dealt with were wonderful and very helpful. An 'A' plus for this company!

Contex were efficient and professional in completing our eves trough job. There were quick to fix any problems after installation and their manner was professional. We were happy with the job.

I am totally amazed with the roofing crew of Contex Roofing Company. They gave me the best quote out of 5 contractors, the most friendliest and neatest crew I have ever had do work for me. And they accomplished everything they promised with in the timeline given. I would never have known they were there at all except for the change in shingle colour on my roof. Truly amazing, and soooo appreciated. Number 1 in my book.

When I watched these guys build my deck, I was really satisfied with their work. I noticed that they worked quickly and saftley. The men were really pleasent and friendly. They finished my deck in 4 days, and cleaned their work space up in about an hour, and they did not leave anything behind. After my friends saw my new deck they really enjoyed the work that was done so i recommended it to them.

Job was estimated by Peter for a reasonable price to tear off existing layers and replace with new 40yr shingles, redo the flashing and replace the vents.

Crew came in, worked quickly and were on their way. Very happy with the way my roof looks and I am guessing it will far outlast the rest of the house.

Communication was terrible. Work began 7 months later than originally promised. Calls to the company were not returned. Workers would randomly show up at my home,(without prior notice they were coming), and then leave when no one was home to receive them. Would never use this company again!

Our flat roof needed repairs as previous owners had done cheap work. The Contex guys removed 5 layers of old roof and repaired old damaged plywood. They also worked well with a company blowing insulation into the space between roof and ceiling. The work was done quickly and neatly and we now have a dry and well insulated roof. Peter was great at providing a detailed quote and outlining what was going to be involved. Highly recommend.

We hired Contex to remove old insulbrick siding from our home and replace it with vinyl siding. Peter from Contex gave us a reasonable quote, was reasonably easy to contact, and the work was done on time. The only snag was due to an error on the company's part in ordering supplies: the crew was given less insulation than we had asked for, and when they realized the error, they had to remove siding they'd already installed, pick up and install more insulation, and then put the siding back up. Despite this, the installers completed the work professionally and on time. Oscar and his crew were amazing -- friendly, diligent, and dealt with all this in stride. It seemed like they really took pride in their work.

Update: we hired Contex again this year to replace our shingles, and our attached neighbour hired them as well. We were again pleased that the work was done as specified, efficiently and on time, and when we had a problem with some mismatched shingles, our concerns were taken seriously, and the error was corrected within a week.
