Carson Dunlop & Associates Home Inspection

From the time Carla (Edmiston) meets the client she is reassuring, polite, engaging, looks one right in the eye, straight forward and gives clear details and always has time to answer any questions. She has a superb memory and writes a few notes on a very small piece of paper that she can refer to during the inspection and then goes through everything with the client and introduces them to the C&D binder and gives her full written report. She is a true professional and a warm reassuring personality. She puts all my clients at ease. I enjoy having Carla whenever I have a home inspection to do.

The booking process was easy and told me everything I needed to know to prepare for the audit, followed by an email and a confirmation call from Robert Baillie. I am going out of my way to tell friends that if they ever need a home inspection, have I got the guy for you. If I created an inspection wish list Jim Gibson met every point. He was careful, thorough, extremely knowledgeable and able to explain everything to me in a way I could understand, even though I am not the most knowledgable when it comes to home construction and maintenance. I came away feeling knowledgeable. Jim's professionalism cannot be surpassed. He was clearly comfortable with me tagging along during the inspection and asking questions. When my accompanying 3 year old boy started going snaky Jim Gibson handed him a flashlight to check the corners of the rooms with. I have had 2 previous home inspections in previous home purchases with different companies, one was a disaster and the other I thought very good at the time. Jim Gibson's inspection far surpassed the previous one I had thought to be good. It was a really good experience and I know that my real estate agent was equally impressed.

The inspector not only told us what we already knew, or suspected, he showed us improvements we were not aware of. As a real estate agent who attends all of her clients' home inspections, I believe I have a better than average understanding of houses, and what can be done, but he (Robert Baillie) brought to our attention conservation methods I had never heard of (i.e. ability to insulate a double brick house).

I was astounded to read negative reviews about Carson Dunlop. I have been a Real Estate Broker for almost 30 years and have attended 100's of Home Inspections performed by dozens of different inspectors and Carson Dunlop and a (very) few others are at the top of my preferred list.

They are thorough, show up on time always, explain things well and urge clients (and agents) to call if they run into a problem after closing.

The types of things that are difficult to inspect are snow covered roofs and finished basements that have mould behind the drywall. They can't tear things apart and they don't have x-ray vision. But if you discover a problem later (even years) call them and they will come and have a look and help put it right. This is why so many people go back to them again and again!

When I get an inspection for myself I use Carson Dunlop if they are available and if not there are 2 other guys I like who coincidentally were trained by them.

The bottom line is that they are very good and their after sales service is second to none!

The advisor was professional, knowledgeable, and willing to discuss the ecoENERGY audit, how it was conducted, and the cost-effectiveness of various improvements, in a courteous and patient manner. I will definately refer others

The inspector took time to explain what he was doing in every step of the process and why he was doing it. Additional to this, many things that I did not know about the house (plumbing, electrical systems, heating, cooling) he took the time to explain to me in an easy and understandable way; also gave me some tips to keep in mind for the well maintenance of the house.

This was my first home inspection - and to tell you the truth - I could have not asked for someone as good as Stuart. I rarely refer people - but in this case - I will be referring Stuart to anyone who needs an inspection done.

I found this site recently and was shocked to see the negative comments about a company that has really impressed me with their customer service.

I have had 3 inspections by Carson Dunlop over the years and have always been very happy with the service. Their engineers are knowledgeable, informative and able to speak in terms I can understand without making me feel like a dunce (which I am).

The inspections have saved me time, money and hassle by alerting me to potential problems and maintenance issues. Even years after the inspection I have called them with questions and can't believe they take the time to explain something to me for free.

Here is the best part. I save $400 - 500/year on insurance for my house and car through their home owner association. When I look at it this way the inspections haven't cost me a nickle!

Very helpful, they gave info on what might be needed and approx. cost, and we can call any time for advice! Great company, definately recommend to anybody buying a home.
