Had a large area vinyl floor put in. a kitchen and addition. It required a5/8" subfloor put on top of an esponite sub floor. In 30 years of business they never had an issue with putting good quality sub floor on top of esponite. (thats their story). They used a few screws and lots staples. TInitially the floor looked fantastic, but after 2 weeks, the staples used to fasten the two subfloors together began to work there way through the vinyl floor. Because I had esponite sub floor it was my fault that the staples would not hold into the esponitea I was told that I had some ownership in this so I had to pay. for the repair. Initially I agreed but then relized very quickly , when the repair was made, I was a low priority. and they did not order enough material to make one room repair job.. In order to match the whole room.. They pieced two pieces of the vinyl together to finish the project. Not what I had paid for initially, and not what was told to me prior to the repair. In addition my family and I had to endure another 6 days of disruption, and dust in my home. They had to rip out the newly installed subfloor and screw and reglue it, as they should have done in the first place.
I was told it was partially my fault even though they were fully aware that they put good sheets of subfloor on the esponite. The only poor judgemnt on my part was using this company.. Never recieved a satisfactory explanation. Contractors I have spoken to always glue and screw subfloors together. Beware deleaing with Carpet Warehouse (Oakville).
