I noticed that no one has yet given Sapphire Surfaces Inc. a review on its countertop services. I am pleased to be the first to provide that review. I started a kitchen and dining room renovation project last October (2018) with a very tight timeline given that my contractor was going on vacation in the second week of December. I had already ordered the kitchen cabinets from a major home improvement store but didn’t feel comfortable doing the same for the quartz countertops. Given that the countertops would be one of the more critical pieces of the renovation project, I wanted a personal touch and didn’t feel too enthused about being treated like another faceless customer with an order number on an assembly line. I decided to send out a service request for a quartz countertop installation through Homestars and received a quick response from Kyle, the owner of Sapphire Surfaces Inc. From the beginning, I was quite impressed with Kyle’s enthusiasm and his promptness in returning messages. As with the other companies that responded to my service request, I sent Kyle the layout and design of my kitchen, the measurements for the kitchen cabinets that needed a countertop, and the type of quartz I was looking for. I then arranged a meeting with Kyle with my spouse. While Kyle did not have the exact same quartz I was interested in, he suggested a Calacatta Vicenza quartz which actually worked better than my original choice as it was white with subtle veins of grey and harmonized perfectly with the darker grey of my kitchen cabinets and the flooring which was a light/dark brown but had hints of grey. Kyle quoted me a fair price for the quartz countertop installation which actually beat the pricing of the bigger outfits. One other thing I should mention is that we were having problems picking a backsplash as my spouse was not happy with the backsplashes we had been seeing so far. Kyle sent us to a tile store and in less than 30 minutes, my spouse picked a backsplash that pretty much completed the kitchen. Kyle offered to get the backsplash for us and deliver it with the countertop if we decided to give him the job. My spouse and I were both impressed with Kyle’s enthusiasm, professionalism, and a desire to do his best, and we went ahead and gave him our stamp of approval. One of the things Kyle suggested was to put a deposit down on the quartz slab so that it would be ready as soon as the kitchen cabinets were installed. I put the deposit down and even though I had never dealt with Sapphire Surfaces Inc. before, I felt instinctively that I could trust Kyle. Anyone who has ever done a major home renovation project will tell you how stressful it can be and my stress level was pretty high by the first week of December because the delivery of my kitchen cabinets got delayed by two weeks and I needed a functioning kitchen for my Christmas dinner plus a return to normalcy in the house. I mentioned the delay to Kyle when he checked up on the installation of the kitchen cabinets and he promised he would make it easy for me. As soon as the cabinets were installed, Kyle was at my house to measure the next day and three days later, the work for the quartz countertops was completed. I have to say that the countertop installation was the least stressful aspect of this renovation. Given the delay with the kitchen cabinets, there are still a few things to be completed by my contractor, but we now have a beautiful kitchen with eye catching countertops and an island that has become the central point in the house. Everything worked out with the quartz countertop installation and I am really happy I went with Sapphire Surfaces Inc. to do the job. Kyle was a delight to work with and his professionalism can be summed up in his own words during one of our exchanges: “I want my customer to feel valued”. I highly recommend Sapphire Surfaces Inc. and I hope this business will be around for a long time.

This is a bit late but I wanted to get this review in to express my appreciation for a job well done. Last year, I was losing the power in my kitchen outlets one by one and needed an electrician to fix the problem. I called and emailed several other electricians but nobody returned my call or responded except Peter of Sigma Electric. Peter answered my call on my first attempt and we set up a date and time for him to show up at my house. Peter arrived promptly, figured out the problem quickly, and fixed my outlets in no time. The problem was due to incorrectly installed outlets and burnt out fuses I didn't know existed in my antiquated fuse box. Peter also took some time checking other outlets that I thought were busted but actually just needed new fuses, and gave me a quote on how much it would cost to install a circuit breaker. Overall, I was happy with the work and I highly recommend Peter and Sigma Electric to anyone needing electrical work done in their house.

I was having the patio stones in the backayrd re-set and the basement window well raised and took this as an opportunity to move the air conditioner to another location in the backyard. My property manager gave me Paul Rodrigues' name and number when I asked her to recommend some people/companies who could move the air conditioner. Paul answered my call immediately and he even went to my backyard and talked to me on my office phone while we discussed what needed to be done. I found that the price Paul quoted me was reasonable and within my budget. The work was done in two stages: detach the air conditioner from its original location, and then after the backyard was finished, to relocate the air conditioner. Paul arrived on time and did the work quickly and efficiently. He answered all my questions and I found him to be very pleasant and knowledgeable. In addition, my other project at that time was to re-locate the dryer vent to its original location in the backyard after realizing that the previous owners were venting the dryer exhaust through the garage (a fire hazard according to my property manager). While I had not originally intended for Paul to install a new dryer duct, after consulting him about what needed to be done, I decided that it would be worthwhile to have solid aluminum ducts running from the dryer to the dryer vent instead of a hose. As with the air conditioner project, the price was reasonable and within my budget. Overall, I found that Paul's work was excellent and I would recommend him to anyone needing HVAC work.

I was reconnecting my dryer duct to the original vent and realized that the old duct was heavily linted and decided to have the duct professionally cleaned. I had already decided to call Dial One for a quote after reading its reviews on Homestars. However, the fellow I hired to reconnect the dryer duct, also recommended Dial One when I asked for the name of some companies who did duct cleaning. Joe was very prompt in returning my call and after discussing what I needed done, I decided to go ahead and have all of my ducts cleaned as I had moved into my house only a couple of years back and I knew that the previous owner had never really taken care of the house. The price Joe quoted was very reasonable and the dryer duct was included with the job. The person who came over to clean the ducts was Wil and he actually came a little early which was great. Wil was friendly and at the same time very professional. He explained very patiently what he was going to do and it became obvious to me quickly that he knew what he was doing. Wil managed to keep a conversation going while he was doing the work and I was observing and he showed me with the camera how much dust and debris was being cleaned out of my ducts. He cleaned up after himself as much as possible and apologized when a mess was made especially when he got all the lint out of my dryer vent (totally understandable). Wil also fixed a couple of shoddy workmanship from previous duct cleanings or projects and recommended that I install a drain instead of keeping the drainage pipe for my air conditioning system. Overall, I was impressed with the work and I was certainly happy that Wil treated my house like it was his own and he was very careful moving around. Lastly, though some companies try to get your business again as soon as possible, Wil, who left a reminder sticker on my furnace, said that I might want to look at having my ducts cleaned again in 3 to 5 years taking into consideration things like allergies and smokers in the house. While it may be a few years before I have my ducts cleaned again, I certainly look forward to doing business again with Dial One and its professional workforce when the time comes.

Raphael came to give me an estimate on the cost of removing and replacing our (very) old laundry tub and faucet along with the time it would take to complete the job. I found him to be very friendly and lively at our first meeting. After discussing the cost estimate (which I found reasonable and competitive with other companies) with my spouse, we decided to go with Handyman Connection. Raphael returned to do the job and he managed to keep a friendly and lively conversation going on throughout the work and even though the old laundry tub and faucet were a little hard to remove at first. Additionally, the job got a little complicated (at least to me but probably not to him) because Raphael had to shorten the pipes leading to the new faucet and redirect the drain pipe under the tub. However, he never lost his cool. Overall, Raphael did a great job, he was within the time estimate he gave to complete the job, and I would definitely recommend Raphael to anyone who needs a plumbing job done. As for Handyman Connection, I have a few non-plumbing projects around the house, and I hope the other people they send over are just as nice as Raphael.
